Description

I reached out to this individual for help repairing my gaming PC after it stopped booting. On the phone, he came off as professional and confident, and he offered to pick up the computer personally and return it fixed within 24–48 hours. That sounded better than waiting several days at a retail repair shop, so I agreed. After he picked it up, I politely followed up once to check on the status. Instead of a simple update, he became hostile — claiming I was being “disrespectful” just for checking in. Then he told me I would need to pay a $50 diagnostic fee that was never mentioned beforehand. When I questioned it, he refused to return my PC unless I paid it, basically holding it hostage. He even tried to make the situation about race, which had nothing to do with what was going on. I explained that I simply didn’t feel comfortable leaving a $2,000+ gaming PC with someone I didn’t know without any updates or receipts, and instead of being professional, he doubled down and made things personal. At that point, I just paid the $50 to get my computer back — not because the fee was justified, but because I was being manipulated and stonewalled. It honestly felt like extortion. After getting my PC back, I did more research and saw he uses stock images online, and most of his positive reviews seem to come from elderly customers who likely don’t know how to verify credentials. That makes me even more concerned that he’s exploiting people who don’t understand how tech repairs should work. This isn’t about the $50. It’s about the way he operates — unprofessional, manipulative, and dishonest. I’m filing this complaint so others don’t go through the same thing I did.
