Description

I received an unsolicited text message from a number claiming to be a new salon in Oregon offering a “free facial treatment.” The message addressed me by name and offered a free service at a place called “Young Life Facial Treatment,” supposedly located inside a business named “Hands Face Body Place” at 4508 NE Sandy Blvd, Portland, OR 97213. The initial message came from +1 (503) 919-7741, and follow-up communication was continued by someone who identified herself as Brigid, an “esthetician,” texting from +1 (415) 200-8494. She offered me an appointment for a free microcurrent facial and sent a calendar invitation via email to make it appear legitimate. When I asked how they obtained my number, she replied that their “founder got it from a professional lead service for women.” I looked up their website: https://www.younglifenow.org, and found it to be extremely unprofessional and suspicious. There was: - No verifiable business registration - No photos or licenses of estheticians - No reviews or presence on social media - The name “Young Life” is misleading, as it’s also the name of a well-known youth Christian organization This raised serious red flags, especially because: - They were collecting personal contact info (email, phone) - I couldn’t verify their existence through trusted platforms - The location seemed vague and may have been rented temporarily Concern: This may be a scam operation meant to collect personal data, aggressively upsell, or — in worst cases — lure women into an unsafe situation. While I did not attend the appointment, I am concerned for others who might. Actions Taken: - I canceled the appointment without explanation - Blocked both numbers - Did not share further personal info beyond my email - Reporting this in case others are at risk
