About the Foundation for Better Business
Investing in Texas Entrepreneurs and Strengthening Economic Potential
Organizational Overview
As part of the Better Business Bureau®’s family of organizations, the Foundation for Better Business is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit equipping Texas entrepreneurs with the education, resources, and networks they need to thrive. Headquartered in Austin and operating from Ignite sparked by BBB®, our small business accelerator, we deliver high-impact programs from foundational business curriculum co-developed with Accenture to leadership development for women entrepreneurs, support for trades-based businesses, peer coaching, and more.
We serve both BBB Accredited Businesses and non-members alike, ensuring broad and inclusive access to opportunity. Backed by a growing network of corporate, individual, and philanthropic partners, and supported by a strategic partnership with the U.S. Small Business Administration, our work strengthens small businesses, fuels economic resilience, and drives shared success across Texas.
We launched a major expansion, rebrand, and strategic redevelopment in 2024. In 2025, we established our small business accelerator Ignite sparked by BBB, introduced bold new programs, forged new partnerships, and redefined our mission to dramatically extend our reach across Texas.
While our initiatives are new, we are backed by the strength, stability, values, and resources of the Better Business Bureau Heart of Texas 501(c)(6)—the third largest BBB chapter internationally—serving over 15,000 Accredited Businesses across 105 counties in Texas.
Funding Model
Our immediate goal is to shift the Foundation’s financial model from relying solely on support from the Better Business Bureau's 501(c)(6) membership organization to becoming independently sustained by forward-thinking corporations, philanthropic partners, grant makers, and individual donors who recognize that investing in small businesses strengthens the entire Texas economy. Revenue sources include grants, annual partnerships, event and program sponsorships, and event ticket sales.
Mission Delivery Model
Our mission is fueled by corporate engagement. We rely on companies and business leaders that not only invest in our programs but also contribute their people and expertise to ignite education, mentorship, and opportunity for Texas entrepreneurs.
Theory of Change
If the Foundation for Better Business delivers impactful educational programs and creates space for entrepreneurial innovation, then more small businesses will thrive, leading to higher survival rates, stronger local economies, and a more resilient business ecosystem across Texas.
