I was the victim of a violent crime in downtown ******* on Thanksgiving Day in 2021. The ambulance crew was very professional and kind. I have no complaints about the actual service provided that day. My complaint is in regard to the company and their billing service. All costs for my care that day were supposed to have been paid by the crime victims fund of ****************. Despite multiple calls from me to AMR billing (outsourced overseas. you do not speak to anyone locally) and multiple payments made by the crime victims fund, AMR turned me in to collections this year 2024. Being victimized again by the ambulance company is abhorrent. When I have called AMR to get any sort of response to the bills they continued send me, I was always assured that the crime victims fund account was listed and that I had nothing to worry about. Clearly, that was not the case as I have been turned into collections as of September 2024. I have never in my life paid one bill late. I have never been turned into collections and my credit score has always been excellent. This is absolutely disgusting behavior on the part of AMR and they should be ashamed of themselves. I am also a nurse with over 20 years of experience and have worked with paramedics and **** throughout my career. I respect the emergency response system workers and the difficult job they do. However, I have zero respect for the business practices of ******************* sure my review means little to AMR executives and leaders. But, I am hoping that if enough people voice enough complaints, it will result in change to their business practices if not voluntarily, then by change in billing regulations on the federal and state levels.
