On 31 August, I attempted to open 2 additional personal checking accounts as an existing customer. I did it over the phone because the online method did not work for me, as a ***************** officer on temporary exchange in the ** for the next 3 years. In the initial call, I needed to upload a few documents. As the following Monday was a federal holiday, I was told to call on Tuesday (Sep 3) to follow up to see what other documents were required. I called on Tuesday and cannot reach the original person who assisted me with opening my account. I left a message was was replied by email that the "back office" is verifying my documents. As I am not a new customer but an existing customer, I did not expect nor was I told the wait time. I followed up every day from Sep 3 to Sep 6, with only either an email to tell me to continue to wait . I elevated this issue to customer relations but they can't open accounts, as this was only done by the sales team. To understand how I can help expedite the process, I called again and again to ask of the original person or a manager, bit no one has replied . I still cannot have any additional checking accounts open. I finally got to the original agent today but the call was dropped and he did not call me back, and my subsequent calls back to the agent was directed to an answer machine. It has taken me more that 2 hours on the phone over the last 2 weeks to open 2 accounts...I opened my original one in ****** over the phone in 2 hours. This has costed me more in time than the 2 hours drive to the nearest branch to do so in person. To this day this still has not resolved and I want to speak with someone in management to ensure they resolve the issue and to document the difficulty in dealing with account opening over the phone, when it wouldn't allow me to do so online.
