1 starAfter purchasing my new home 2017. My broker set up my home insurance through Intact Insurance, 2019 there was a request to cancel policy as I was getting better price elsewhere but they never cancelled and continued to take monthly payments from my account to the tune $17,300 ?? now refusing to give it back?? This all came to my attention when I had a leak in my roof!! I phoned them and they sent all these companies over to assess leak and damages caused by roof leak. There conclusion, was poor roof maintenance which caused nails to rust, there for you are not covered!! How do you look for rusty nails up on a steep slippery roof with no attic space in this particular area?.
I had to hire professional roofing company to replace my roof $20,000 turns out the leak had nothing to do with RUSTY NAILS I have 4 sky lights in this roof area. when ever we would have a heavy snow or atmospheric rain falls the water would build up at top of skylights and seep in through the breather space on all the windows and these windows and breather spaces are factory spec.. All this was documented and photo's taken and they still refused to cover me!! * REMOVED REMOVED. * REMOVEDIntact Insurance

We have attempted to connect with the client to discuss
his concerns, however we have not yet been able to do so.
Our investigation has determined that we were
never advised of the secondary policy. Further, the client contacted us twice
(in 2020 as a general inquiry and in 2025 to submit a claim). As the insured
was aware of our policy, and opened claim with us, our policy should be
considered the active policy. We would advise the insured to seek a refund from
their secondary policy.
Regarding the client’s claim concerns, the insured
reported interior water damage from a roof leak. We inspected the interior and
there was water leaking from the skylights, along the beam and in the bedroom
and there was mold present. Our roofing vendor inspected the 20-year-old
roof. Shingles were in poor condition, heavy moss growth allowing water
to enter along the nail lines and exposed nails allowing water entry. We paid
the roofing vendor to tarp the roof, however the attic inspection revealed mold
growth as well. The roof claim was denied as it was not damaged by an insured
peril but rather by wear and tear. The interior damages were also denied as the
damage was caused by repeated leakage.Review fromL. C.

1 starAfter decades of paying insurance premiums we had a problem with a leaking roof. Intact's efforts went into making excuses for denying the claim instead of being helpful. REMOVED Intact it certainly doesn't provide peace of mind. When there's a problem, you're on your own. What we got from Intact was expenses and stress.Intact Insurance

The insured was provided with a denial letter for this
claim on January 30, 2026, as unfortunately the loss did not meet the criteria
for coverage on the Homeowners Comprehensive Form policy. This was further
explained to the insured on February 3, 2026. We remain committed to
adjusting claims in accordance with applicable policy conditions and have
invited the insured to submit an expert report regarding causation of the loss
from any vendor of their choice for our review, if they disagree with our
current findings. This has been communicated by the Customer Complaints
Resolution Office to the insured on March 9, 2026, and we have not received any
further documentation to date. At this time, based on our inspections and
all information available, the loss unfortunately is barred from coverage due
to exclusions applicable on the policy relating to ongoing and repeated seepage
of water through leaks in the roof over an extended period.L. C.

We are having someone provide an expert report.
When the leak was first reported to Intact Insurance the company sent someone out to look at the roof. This "expert" told us the leak was caused by ice build up but there was nothing wrong with the roof and it was a "one time thing." This was incorrect information REMOVEDthought it was right because the company's "expert" told her this. If she had been given correct information at that time, repair work would have been done and this would not be a problem today.Review fromtim g

On January 16, 2026, the Unit Claims Manager confirmed that you booked to take your vehicle to the shop to finish the remainder of the repairs. You also confirmed you spoke to the shop, and everything is resolved with the rental now. You were advised that your shop is required to send proof of delays to review for further rental extensions. The Unit Claims Manager called the shop on January 16,19 and 21 and left messages, no response received.Review fromr. k.

1 starREMOVEDWe have been with them for over 18 years, and they failed us during the 2024 hailstorm. They refuse to replace the metal cladding, even though we have pictures. We spoke to their Mgr REMOVED, who stands by her rep. We have photos to prove, but they refuse to accept the claim. We are now changing insurance companies because of this. REMOVEDIntact Insurance
Date: 30/12/2025
The cladding damage was determined to be inconsistent with hail damage based on multiple inspections and a review of photos. The customer has been advised that he is welcome to have a different vendor inspect and provide their opinion for review.r. k.

1 starMy fire claim with Intact was handled extremely poorly from start to finish. The issue was never how I filed the claim—the issue was Intact’s internal process and lack of follow-through.
They repeatedly told me someone would call within 24 hours, yet no one ever called back. Every update required me calling them, only to be told my file was under review by management with no actual action taken.
They changed the person handling my case mid-process without explanation, and this caused even further delays. I was left without the funds I needed because Intact sent an e-transfer incorrectly and then failed to provide the simple access code required to release the money. Nothing was done to fix it, despite multiple complaints.
REMOVED deflect, delay, and avoid responsibility. Intact’s system does not support customers during a crisis; it creates more stress and uncertainty. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Intact for fire claims or any situation requiring timely, reliable communication.Intact Insurance

On December 19, 2025, the
Unit Claims Manager (UCM) contacted you to address your concerns. They assured
you that they are looking into your payment concerns, as it appears to be a
system error. They also addressed your concerns regarding the length of time
your claim has been taking. On December 22, 2025, the payment concern was
resolved, and the payment was reissued.Review fromPredrag S

1 starREMOVEDMy vehicle was vandalized on Sept 9 2025.
Vehicle had damaged windshield hood emblem grill side of the car back of the car. Pretty much basicly all around. I was told buy two body shop vehicle has to be painted and damage is exceeded more then 10 000$ intact insurance came up with only fix nothing replaced and somehow got an esstimate of 4600$. The vehicle had no oil leakage before the incident as I was told the manifold is leaking and was damaged due to vandalism he said that is to fix 3800$ extra. This is a 2012 REMOVEDdiesel with 215000 km. Never seen winter. Now its November 21st after 1.5 month took intact to have their estimator go esstimate the damage. Coming up with some 4100$ original esstimate after I was told buy their body shop manager vehicle has lots of damaged and should be a right off. Now after 3.5 months intact is offering me a cash out of 3100$ this is beyond rediculess. But mean while I am paying insurance still 320$ a month and my car still at shop not getting fixed and I payed now 4th month so its beyond rediculness. due to Intact sending appraisal 1.5 months after the accident. REMOVEDI need someone to help me because REMOVED they make you feel like you gave to beg them to do their job.Intact Insurance

1 starI recently switched vehicle and home insurance companys from Intact Insurance to REMOVEDwhich requires verification of coverage in the form of a letter from Intact. As I was insured with Intact for more than 11 years I was entitled to a significant discount from REMOVED. The problem is its been several weeks and Intact is ignoring my requests for that verification.Intact Insurance

1 starREMOVEDHave an issue with our drain, plumbers came and saw 3 cracks and and corrosion in the pipes outside and a bit of corrosian inside. Intact claims (after reviewing the vieo of the pipes) that it is impossible to have 3 cracks in the pipes outside and that there is no issue inside. They sent their own plumber to disprove what the other plumbers saw. Their plumbers ended up seeing the same issues outside, as the intact had already deamed that inside was fine they didnt bother have their plumbers check. Once they review and saw that outside would cost more they came back and said my issue is 1 feet away from the toilet even though we had several plumbers pointing at the shift outside and the rocks coming into the pipes. It is a mess REMOVEDIntact Insurance

We have informed the client via email about the reason for the non-renewal and advised her to contact her brokerage to provide the necessary information for a comprehensive risk assessment. The broker left a message on August 20th and indicated on August 21st that they would make another attempt to reach her that day.Intact Insurance

Customer concerns are important to us.
In that regard, the client dissatisfaction had already been addressed in accordance with our Complaint Handling Protocol and the client received the final decision of the insurer.
However, a Unit Claims Manager (UCM) contacted again the client to discuss the matter and explained the decision concerning the cause of the peril.
We understand that the client is still unsatisfied with the decision concerning the cause of the peril, unfortunately the insurer already reviewed the matter.
As the claim adjuster presented the settlement to the client and was waiting for the client’s response, the UCM invited the client to contact the claim adjuster to do the payment and complete the claim.Review fromCatherine M
