      My husband, son, and I were recent passengers that flew with Sunwing on Friday, January 13th, 2023. (flight number: *****).
      At 6:00 pm on Thursday January 12th, 2023 we received an email, followed by a phone call, from Sunwing stating that our flight (*****) had been delayed until 2:00 pm on Friday January 13th, 2023. The representative on the phone told us that the reason for the delay was due to weather. I explained to her that every other company was still leaving at 6:00 am so the weather can’t be that bad as *** ****** flights, **** *** flights, and ***** airlines flights were still scheduled to leave at 6:00 am on Friday January 13th, 2023 (which they did). Our friend who traveled on the same flight contacted Sunwing and explained to the representative that every other company was still leaving YOW at 6:00 am as scheduled, but we were still waiting. The representative told our friend that the reason for the delay was due to staffing shortages, not only has the flight been delayed 9.5 hours total, we are now receiving conflicting and concerning information from Sunwing directly.
      On January 13th, 2023 at 2:15 pm, the airport staff made an announcement stating the flight would now be delay to 2:55 pm. No plane was at our gate, but one leaving for Punta Cana had been sitting at the next gate since our arrival at the airport at 10:00 am. Eventually, a plane did arrive, however, this was NOT a Sunwing Plane, we put our trust in Sunwing and not in *****. After speaking with one of the flight attendants on the ***** plane, she explained to us that ***** is a ********** airline that charters flights for companies that don’t have enough staff, confirming that Sunwing did not have the staff in place for our flight. Once boarded, we did not leave the tarmac until 4:30 pm to arrived in Santa Clara at 9:30 pm. In addition to the gruelling wait time, we arrived in Santa Clara with NO LUGGAGE, we did not received our luggage until January 15th, 2023 at 10:00 pm.

      First and foremost we apologize for the delay it is taking for our Post Travel Team to respond to your ticket received on or about January 25, 2023. An email has been sent to the agent assigned to your ticket to contact you.
      We understand how frustrating flight delays can be for our customers. There are many reasons why an airline such as Sunwing Airlines would need to sub-chartered an aircraft from another carrier. At times these decisions are made to minimize any disruption to their schedules and their passengers.
      The Post Travel agent will provide you with an explanation and the recourse to submit any out of pocket expenses that you may have incurred due to the delay. Sunwing Airlines' Baggage Team will also be in contact with you in regards to your delayed luggage.

      I recently travelled with Sunwing and returned this past Saturday Jan 14 2023. With all the bad reviews recently we we’re skeptical but hoping for the best on the way there we had very minor delays so thought we were in the clear, big mistake! We were confirmed with our Sunwing rep in Mexico for our pick up to head back to the airport, we were supposed to be picked up at 11 am so we rushed our last morning on the beach to then never be picked up all they told us to get a taxi and pay the bill and contest it with Sunwing ********** **** * ***** ******** ********* * **** **** *** **** ********* if it wasn’t for our flight bring delayed 2 hours we would have missed our flight. On top of that mid flight we asked for water snd thry said they had none left so we said ok we’ll have a **** then and they charged us 3$ for us to only see them serving water 20 minutes later.
      I’ll think twice before booking Sunwing for my next family vacation

      I booked a two weeks vacation to *** ****** Punta Cana, from November 28, 2022, to December 12,2022. The return flight * ***** was supposed to leave 3:55 to arrive Toronto 7:35 pm. We started boarding @23:05 pm , arriving 2:45 am December 13,2022 . About 8 hours delay. That’s way too much of a delay. I tried to file for compensation on line, was prevented to finish my claim. I received a message telling me I have no write to the claim because the inbound flight was delayed. That is not my problem, Sunwing should have a back up plan, instead of leaving passengers waiting for 8 hours. If I don’t hear from Sunwing, I will never fly with them again. I was always a loyal customer.

      Thank you for contacting Sunwing Vacations through the BBB. Please note that any compensation relating to a flight delay is made through the airline. We can see that the cause of the flight delay on December 12, 2022 was deemed "within carrier control for safety" as such it is not eligible for compensation under the APPR however if you have any receipts for out-of-pocket expenses the airline did request that you send them in on January 30, 2023. Please continue to communicate through the ticket which was created for you.

      My wife booked our Vacation with Sunwing to Varadera Cuba, paid in full. We were supposed to fly out Dec 17 2022, Sunday afternoon and it was delayed without advanced notice, there was complete chaos at Pearson Checkin. Most Sunwing employees stated it wasn't their issue and walked away, Somehow, we managed to get a flight out the next day, 14 hours later. We missed almost one day (afternoon and next morning) of our vacation.
      The return flight was also delayed 6 hours the following Monday.
      Our bungalow at Resort was on the ground floor, and all you can hear are the people walking very loudly in the unit above, our a/c unit had only one temperature so we froze at night because it blew right on our faces and it was so loud, I barely had much sleep on first night. The room was full of mosquitoes and there was a Gekko in the curtain scared my kids.
      I will definitely not consider Sunwing for next family vacation.

      No communication from them. Stranded in Cancun. Trying to make claim on their app. Says our flight return wasn’t delayed more than three hours so won’t let me make claim. Flight was delayed 3 days. Other airlines were communicating and getting people home so weather while causing some issues was not the only reason.

      I never received my $200 for the price drop guarantee. When I attempted to email *******@*********** since this is where the email came from, it said "the recipient's mailbox is full and can't accept messages now. Please try resending your message later, or contact the recipient directly." I then filled out a form online AND did a survey. I have yet to hear back 2 months later..... This is VERY frustrating as I feel I am being robbed! Awful customer service.

      The refund was issued to the credit card on file ending in the last 4 digits of **** in the amunt of $600. This was for 3 persons. The refund was issued to the **** on file which shows you as the card holder. This was processed on January 17, 2023. Please check with your credit card company.

      Was in Dominican Republic and return flight was December 23, the weather in Canada affected flights. This I understand, however communication was terrible and was total chaos being shuttled back and forth to airport for flights that were cancelled. Live chat representative left me stranded, representative at hotel didn't respond and they put me back on a transfer bus to hotel, drove half way to airport and then back to hotel. We were on bus for multiple hours not knowing, app didn't display flight changes. I ended up taking my own taxi to airport because you can't trust this company to communicate with you..never again

      Flight was delayed got the run around from reps for 8+ hours, called sunwing directly they told me to deal with reps, they can't help me, * **** **** *** * ******* no room booked for us, **** ****** ** ** *** **** **** *******, noone cared to help us. Worst experience ever. Never deal with Sunwing ever again.

      This airline has no heart. My husband and I have been booking travel with Sunwing for many years and have initiated trips that brought family and friends with us as well. Sunwing has changed our flights and vacation dates with little notice and we have accommodated. However, our loyalty means nothing to them. My 57 year old husband was just diagnosed with an ********** ******** and we cannot travel this year while he endures aggressive treatment to save his life. Sunwing will not return our deposit on compassionate grounds, ** ** ******** **** *********** ******* ** *** *****, nor will they even give us a credit to use next year.
      Profit definitely matters more than customers.

      We truly are sorry to hear of your upset and especially the news of the diagnose of your husband.
      The cancellation of your booking in December 2022 was subject to cancellation penalties of the deposit on file. These penalties will remain as there was no insurance on file. I'm not sure if you can claim through your personal insurance or your credit card company as a significant time has passed but we would encourage you to speak with your travel agent.
