I placed an order for a book with Save with Sam, a dealer in Miami. Shortly after they asked for an added sum for shipping via Abebooks website, that I agreed to. I then received this formula generated email from the dealer, twice: "Hi, I am very sorry for the problem. Due to everything that is going on in the world, there may be a delay in receiving this. I am very sorry for this inconvenience. If you do not wish to wait and prefer to purchase the item with another seller, please let me know by directly responding to this email and I will issue a refund right away. Otherwise, this order will remain open but the order may be delayed. Thanks for your understanding! Samantha."  This is suspect and concerning. I have asked via Abebooks for a refund, but the dealer never should have had access to my email to contact me directly. I will not be using Abebooks again.

I have been buying books from Abebooks for years and have only had two negative experiences which Abebooks made right. I cannot speak highly enough about the quality I get for such low prices. When I place an order, I accept that it may take a while to get to me. I would not purchase a book that I needed in a hurry. That being said, I will continue to buy books from them and recommend them to my friends.

I ordered three books through the site. The first two came late (took over a week), but with no issues, the third I wasn’t so lucky. I ordered from someone I could see is in the same city. After 6 days with no shipping information, I made contact. They gave me the runaround for days. I mean over 10 days! Then they said it was shipped 6 days ago. They continued to lie for days, then they put in a report that I cancelled the sale. This way the seller could keep their high reviews on the site. When I contacted Abebooks about the situation they gave me the run around with automated email responses. In the end I ended up without the college textbook that I ordered, and a 15% coupon off of my next order. I will absolutely NOT be ordering from Abebooks again.

Received the wrong book from Ami Ventures via abebooks. Haven’t had any responses to emails or through the website. Apparently, this is not something new with this seller.

I had bad experiences with two orders from this website and never recommend it.

1. I didn't receive the order and when I contacted the seller, they said it was delivered and refunded my money. I don't know what the issue was, and the refund wasn't a fair solution as I waited over 21 days.

2. I ordered the same item (ordered previously) and received an alert two days ago saying the address was insufficient and the post office agent was unable to deliver the package. I checked my address in the order and it was complete. Now the seller is lying and claiming that the "receiver refused to receive the package" and refund was issued.

The situation now is completely unacceptable as I used a gift card to make the purchase and now I am unable to use it. I provided a solution to the seller. The solution is to provide a new address for my item to be shipped but no one listened.

I attempted to contact the seller of my book when I realized that I had paid for express shipping and the estimated delivery date was not what it was supposed to be. I did not get a response; the website said if they don't answer after 48 hours then to contact customer service. Customer service responded that they were sorry that the delivery date was later than expected and that the 2-to-6-day express shipping was business days. This was fine, however even if it took 6 business days then the estimated delivery date was still wrong. I am waiting to hear back after I emailed back about this issue. The seller has never responded, and customer service has yet to take accountability or even fix the seller's mistake. All I received was a sorry that my expectations were wrong? The shipping process is overly complicated with too much fine print. Even if you understand the policy, they still try to tell you that the delivery date is correct and your expectations were wrong. I expected my book to get here on time and I expected the company to help me in resolving this issue in a timely manner. Unless you are willing to pay extra for something you will not receive and awful customer service, please save yourself the trouble and read through all these terrible reviews before purchasing books from Abebooks.com.

Extremely slow shipping, and inconsistent quality in the books when they finally show up. I found that it was not worth the possible savings to use Abebooks. They're definitely on my naughty list due to their inconsistency and poor delivery service.

While Abebooks.com has a lot of older, hard to find books, if you ever have an issue with a seller they do not reply to messages that you send them. I notified Abebooks through their web form that the seller never sent the book, issued a tracking number that went to a different address than what was on the purchase receipt. I requested a refund and Abebooks they never replied back or issued a refund. For myself it seems like there is no repercussions for dishonest sellers at Abebooks and such an environment would be wonderful place for dishonest sellers. I hope that Abebooks improves upon their customer service as it would be nice to have an alternative to Barnes and Noble.

AbeBooks allows sellers book sellers to markup book prices by over 2000%. A book that can be found on Amazon, eBay, or Etsy, can also be found at AbeBooks for an outrageously high price, it is quite absurd. In allowing sellers to mark up prices too high, they are, in sense, scamming hundreds of book readers in-land and across borders. AbeBooks' business practices should be thoroughly examined, audited, and be forced to sell at reasonable, compatible prices. Before considering buying from AbeBooks site, look elsewhere, be aware of scammers and greed. Say no to AbeBooks!
