On 24 Jun 2025, 6:30pm, my vehicle with license plate number ****** was towed by ********************************************* Services ** from a private parking lot located at ******************************************************************There were no visible warning signs posted on or near the property stating that unauthorized vehicles would be towed, as required by British Columbia provincial regulations. I believe that the absence of appropriate signage in front of the parking spaces and throughout the property may be due to the ongoing construction on the adjacent lot. The construction fence separating the properties does not allow for the placement of informational stickers or signs. There is absolutely no information posted regarding the parking rules or towing policies for this area. I believe this tow was unlawful, and I am requesting a full refund of the fee I was forced to pay in order to recover my vehicle: $188.64, I also incurred taxi expenses of $20.Later that same day, around 11:00 PM, I returned to the towing companys office and requested a refund, presenting the video showing the complete absence of parking information. The senior manager, a man approximately 5560 years old, watched the video and stated that it was private property and that the lack of signage was irrelevant. He then asked me to leave the office in a rather rude manner and pointed toward the door. This action is in clear violation of BCs Towing and Storage Safety Regulation under the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act, which states that appropriate signage is required for legal towing from private property.Desired Outcome:I respectfully request a full refund of $188.64, taxi$20, and that the company be held accountable for this practice. I also request that this complaint be included in the businesss BBB file to help inform other consumers.Attachments:Photos of the parking area showing no signage Copy of towing receipt Thank you for your attention to this matter.Sincerely,Oleksii Tyrtychnyi ******************

    Business Response

Thank you for taking the time to contact our office, we were not aware that a complaint had been filed with BBB. Drake Towing ************* does not tow vehicles unless specifically requested to do so. We only tow from private lots owned by and managed by property owners or third party patrollers. The lot located at ************************************** is a private property. The building manager instructed Drake to remove this unauthorized vehicle from the parking lot. Clearly the owner of the 2013 ************* is aware that he is parking in an unauthorized parking space, as he specifically searched for signs. He would be better served to file a complaint with the property owner.
