My spouse and I contacted a local H&R office in late March to solicit service filing our personal income taxes. The office set an appointment date of April ***, but had no record of it when we arrived. They subsequently fit us in and we provided them with all of our tax slips (organized and complete) with instructions on a few items. The office said they were very busy but would be in touch in the next couple weeks.The returns wern't completed until May **** - some ** days after our initial meeting. We had to chase the office for updates and received no reply more than once, before I called head office to report the issue. When we finally sat down to complete it, I noted a number of errors on both of our returns. They included repayments to the wrong CRA programs (home buyers' vs lifelong learning), incorrect repayments amounts as per our written requests, and an incorrect address used on a rental property we own. I had to walk the agent through to correct each of the mistakes and my wife's return was never completely fixed as she was not present to provide consent for the corrections (even though our written requests were available to the agent, detailed and specific).The agent proceeded to charge us what I thought was an exorbitant amount for the returns - almost $*** - by double billing us for the rental property income portion. This was a 1pg addendum to a regular return, which she counted as two extra services. We filed this in * prior years and were never charged extra by a CPA, let alone $*** x **** was clear this wouldn't be resolved at the local branch so I opted to call in a few weeks later to file an inquiry about the poor service time, quality of the work and high costs. I made calls to H&$ in June, August, September and October where agents took notes, said they would escalate the file and yet we never heard back. Early 2024, I used H&R Block remote tax expert service to file my 2024 tax return. As part of the transaction, I purchased the Peace of Mind package in order to obtain support in case of questions from the *** and potential errors in my tax returns. The tax expert who filed my taxes was ******* ******** from H&R Block Canada - *** ** ************** in ******** *** ***. The process and interactions with Soumaya were already extremely complicated (email unanswered, phone call unanswered and no call back, taxes filed at the last minute despite the complexity of my tax situation, Online H&R Block profile still showing that my taxes have not bee submitted to this day even if they have been, etc.)On Oct *, 2025, I received a message from the *** asking for additional information and asking questions about my tax return, with a ** day deadline. Given I bought the peace of mind package, I was expecting to receive support from H&R Block. The process to obtain support has been appalling. I contacted the ****************** on Oct *, as requested in the peace of mind contract. Since then, I have desperately tried to obtain support from them. As Soumaya is not working in the office during that period, my main interlocutor has been ***** ******. Despite multiple phone conversations (Oct *, Oct ** and Oct **) and emails sent (Oct * and Oct **), no support has been provided, and ***** and the local office have no intention of providing any help: emails remain unanswered, when I organized a virtual meeting with *****, whe was not available and the call delayed by * hour. I'm being told that my request is being transferred to a specific department in *******, then that my request is being transferred to HQ. ***** contacted me back. I've been told by ***** she would send an email with me in CC so that I would have a trace of the people involved, she never did it. ***** has been extremely unprofessionnal and rude during our conversations, dismissing my requests and my concerns.Business Response

I am writing because I paid for Audit protection and Expert help for my income taxes done with H&R Block and I am not receiving any help related to my situation. I sent an email to them and am waiting for a response. I submitted my income taxes for 2024, and *** sent a letter requesting some documents that don't apply to me. I will start to incur interest on the alleged overpayment. I have been trying to resolve the issue for * weeks already with H&R Block. I have asked for help to submit a tax adjustment form, and have been trying to get help since Oct.**, I have called * different times and each time I call I am told they will escalate my request to speak with someone but nobody calls back. I was told to do everything via email through the Connect (Canada Post) site. I was contacted by someone named ****** *** who was not helpful at all but instead told me to submit the documents requested rather than actually look at what happened or call me or help.I have asked her numerous times to speak to someone but she refuses and states email only. I need to speak to someone as I am confused and not a tax expert. The physical H&R location states I need to speak to the people online as they cannot help. I am stuck in a loop of bureaucracy and the issue remains unresolved. I was charged for service that H&R block is not providing. I would like to speak on the phone with a tax expert to help me fill out the forms I need to fill out and this has been denied by H&R block. So I am submitting a complaint with the BBB and request my money back for all the times I have paid for the services I am not getting. I called the main line ************** but they refuse to put me through a manager or supervisor instead tell me they cannot do that, they also refuse to give me an email address to contact someone to rectify this situation.I have since found out someone by the name of **** ******* is the customer support manager and I am hoping he will get my email.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: it does not deal with the lack of customer service, the lying and misleading statements made by H&R Block, the "escalation" that never took place, the inability to speak with a supervisor/manager despite numerous requests, forcing communication to be done by email only and responses not addressing the issues at hand, the change in services that suddenly stated "expert help" was not purchased when it was, the misleading information that a "tax expert is with you every step of the way" as we file our return and if we get audited. Neither service occurred.There was absolutely no way to contact an actual tax expert when filing or refiling the return, Canada ************** stating that H&R Block had to deal with this situation and H&R Block ignoring my requests for assistance. I called this morning and received the usual "we'll escalate this to the management team" response, meaning nobody was going to deal with the issue. The lack of transparency and misleading statements to customers is not acceptable. I am not confused with the purchases made, and the claims that were made online. It even stated we could speak with a tax expert at any time, which H&R Block failed to provide.
I continue to request a refund for services not provided and the time this matter has consumed not the least of which was the 9-10 different phone calls and requests to have a customer service tax expert help me or one that I could speak with to help.

The experience was with the commercial drive branch, located at ****************************************. We submitted all documents in March 2025, paid for the preparation fee and the tax owed in April through our bank. We later found out in October that our Canadian tax was never filed in April and now have to pay penalty and couldn't locate the money we paid in April using the voucher printed out thru this H&R block office. We also hired this branch to file US tax return in March and was informed seven months later in October that the person who has been working on it since March was not qualified even though we specified our special situation at the initial meeting. As a result, we have to pay the penalty for the US tax return. The total penalty we have to pay for both Canada and US tax return and the preparation fee for the Canada tax return, which was never filed, is close to **** CAD. We have emails from H&R block personnel stating the company will pay for any penalty due to the delayed tax filing. I filed my taxes in 2023 and was advised to carry over my moving expenses until 2024. when I filed in 2024 my moving expenses were claimed. When I got my documents I noticed the agent had put that I moved in 2024. When I contacted the owner they said it was in reference to the year of filing but that was incorrect the question specifically asked what year did you move the owner then altered my document when I asked them not to. In June I received a call from the agent that they had received a letter saying that the moving expense for was not submitted and as a result I was audited. I asked them why THEY had not filed the form as it was part of my income tax filing they said they did not have to submit the form. I called to speak to the regional manager and he was argumentative and when I said I was going to make an official complaint he smugly said go ahead they will just direct you back to me. I was assured that that would not be the case . when I did not hear back from H and R block I was again called by the regional manager who again was argumentative, I asked for my filing fees to be returned as it promised by H and r Block in their marketing He told me that was not going to happen. The original letter was not addressed to me it was addressed and sent to the agent at the office I did not receive a copy from the ***. The issue is that they did not send ALLog my tax package to CRA which resulted in an audit and I want to be refunded my premium paid to have them completed. H and R block advertising states the guarantee that there are no mistakes and that small audits we offered without payment. I spoke to the ** and they ALL documents must be submitted and the moving expenses form was not submitted with my filing. As well my return was altered by the owner when I pointed out that they had told *** that I moved 2024. When I brought this to their attention they tried to tell it was the year of filing but the question asked when did you move I moved in 2023. I asked the owner NOT to alter my return but they did with out permission

In spite of repeated reminders I sent to H&R block regarding a serious issue with my ****** tax return filed through H&R Block. I am surprised and disappointed that I have yet to receive a meaningful response, aside from one message stating that I did not purchase the Peace of Mind plan and would need to pay additional fees to rectify the return.The agent who filed my taxes made a significant error, resulting in a reassessment from the ***. I am now required to pay $********* CAD by August *, 202*, as outlined in the attached CRA letter. This error stems from incorrectly reporting $****** CAD under line ***** ("Interest & **************** Income")a mistake confirmed by a CRA specialist in CanadaIndia tax relations. I have since filed a Change of Return, but the *** continues to send follow-ups, and interest is accruing while the correction is pending.I have spent countless hours speaking with *** agents to diagnose and resolve this issuetime and stress that I should never have had to endure had the filing been handled correctly. The reason I approached H&R Block was to receive professional, knowledgeable service. Please let me know if you were able to contact H&R block for reimbursement for the penalty which I am supposed to pay to CRA, in addition to that I also attached the fee amount paid to H&R block for tax filing. In total the amount for CRA payment and the H&R block is close to ****** (forty three thousand Canadian dollars approximate) approximate amount.

My nightmare with H&R Block began in May 2025, when I reached out to have my personal and corporate taxes prepared there. I have a plethora of emails saved where I reach out to a representative, but I don't hear back. In my emails, I literally beg for a reply. I can't go into the office (Yonge and ********) as they're only open two days and on limited hours. When they are open, no one can help me out because they're busy. My biggest complaint is with the head person there, ******** *******. I paid him over $***** to get my corporate taxes done - taxes that were SO EASY to do as my income was less than $*** and I have ZERO receipts or expenses to include. My corporate taxes also included having my HST return completed, which ******** didn't do. I sent him emails on Septembe* ** *** *** ** *** *** these emails being AFTER I had chatted with him and when he told me "Your HST return should be done within the following day or two. That was the last time I heard from him. He doesn't return my voicemails. He doesn't reply to my emails. He doesn't care about my standing with the **** as it's not his account. I WANT MY HST COMPLETED ALREADY. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE MAY - * MONTHS. WHAT AM I PAYING FOR? Here's the kicker: he owns his own tax business, which he operates from his home address. I am rejecting this response because:Since contacting H&R Block on Sept **, 20** @ ******* and filing a complaint (*******) with the help of their **** ***, I have not heard from H&R Block.
I did, however, hear back from the representative who did my corporate taxes only after I reached out to him demanding late charges and interest to be reversed. If I didnt reach out, no one from H&R Block would have contacted me about this matter.
Reimbursing me for penalties and interest for the constant delay and neglect of my taxes is not compensation. I do not think my return was worth $*****+, much less the amount time it has eaten out of my life - and continues to do so
I think its fair for my fees to be reconsidered and adjusted (refunded) accordingly.

Hr blocks tax professional screwed up numerous times. Their mistakes has resulted in undue hardship and injustice to my family. I have had numerous conversation with district managers up until yesterday. They have fully acknowledged their incompetence for tax years 20** and 2024 (the return was done so badly twice by one professional that the district manager had to redo it) and there were still errors that the *** flagged up to but not limited to claiming of illegible expenses, uploading of incomplete supporting documents).
The issue was projected to take * year from the date (already waited *0 months and waiting an additional year = ** months) that I would of had to wait for a return cause they filed it in accurately 3 times.
Last week, I called the cra myself cause hr block and their legal team ghosted me and explained that I lost my job and am in hardship and need this expedited. Its already handled and been reassessed and I have a majority of my return being issued from cra on Oct **.
My return was originally roughly *0k, then they called me back in and the professional said "I dont know this new system - sorry but your return is roughly ****.
my *** came in at ****. **** shy of what they said.
Time after time, I give them an opportunity to fix it and there is zero accountability that they have put my family through this.
I spoke with the district manager ***- ****** yesterday and she is putting in a PoM claim for the difference but it doesnt excuse the hardship that this has caused.
I am on the verge of getting legal representation and escalating if they don't get their acts together and do the right thing

I am rejecting this response because HR Block did not offer a satisfactory settlement.They offered to pay the discreptancy as per their Piece of Mind Policy that I paid a premium for and refund their fees.
However, in their settlement release, it states it covers losses and damages. They have demonstrated an utter lack of awareness of the administrative burden and countless hours I spent fixing the problem with the *** cause HR Block team did not fullfill their obligations and services that should have been rendered.
In addition to the administrative issues, their incompetence resulted in my return being delayed for almost ** months - I lost my job and was under so much stress and emotional turmoil trying to find ways to take care of my family. If My $10,000 return was done properly the first time around, I would have had that money during my financial hardship which caused resounding emotional distress to the extent of having to apply for Ontario Works and crying myself to sleep feeling like a failure.
i have stated my terms and told them they have ** days to respond before I escalate via mediation and litigation.
I want accountability that they dont seem to understand.

I did my taxes 2023.I paid to get my taxes done and was issued a refund but just a couple months ago I received a letter in the mail stating I owe for the refund I have received. When talking to ***** Block on ******** they claimed the issue is because on the system it says I owed money to FRO. I called FRO and Revenue Canada who both confirmed I do not have any outstanding balance and advised me to reach out to ***** Block again and advise them to contact them so they can reissue another check to them if one was not received due to error. Unfortunately there seems to be a language barrier with ***** Block on ******** because I spoke to someone who was the manager and was refusing to call because that what It said on her system and was going by that. I repeatedly advised her to contact Revenue Canada for the reissued cheque and she finally said she will look into it but apparently didn't as I received a letter from Collectors now for the amount of $******. Canada Revenue they need to call them as I cannot provide certain details for them to reissue the cheque and also stated they are my authorized representatives to do so on my behalf.Business Response

This issue have been resolved but I would like to clarify H&R Block was no help whatsoever and also did not include the option of payment plan. They sent it directly to collections as per the attachment
