About F.L.A.M.E.
This interactive program is designed to help students connect the life they envision with the financial decisions required to achieve it.
Before the program begins, each student researches the future they want.
Students explore their:
Desired career and expected salary
Education or training requirements
Potential student loan debt
Housing choices
Vehicle purchase
Insurance
Utilities and household expenses
Food, entertainment, and everyday spending
Savings and other financial responsibilities
Then the real experience begins.
Using the information they researched, students work through the financial realities of adulthood. They must make decisions, adjust priorities, respond to unexpected expenses, and discover firsthand how today's financial choices can affect tomorrow's opportunities.
F.L.A.M.E. isn't about giving every student the same imaginary salary, house, car, and expenses.
It's their life on paper.
Students begin with their own goals and discover whether the career they chose can support the lifestyle they envision. Along the way, they learn about budgeting, credit, debt, saving, responsible borrowing, financial trade-offs, and the difference between wanting something and being able to afford it.
Most importantly, students learn that financial responsibility involves more than numbers. It requires becoming ethical, informed, and financially responsible consumers.
F.L.A.M.E. is designed as a three-day experience that can be adapted for traditional or block scheduling. The program can be delivered in as little as one class period per day and expanded to as many as three class periods per day, depending on the school's schedule and desired level of engagement.
The goal isn't simply to teach students how to create a budget.
It's to help them understand the financial decisions behind the life they want to build.
That's Protection Through Education—giving tomorrow's consumers an opportunity to practice today's financial decisions before those decisions become real.
