On 12/2/2023 I had Shamrock Chimney come to give me an estimate to get my fireplace in working order. (It hadn't been used in 30 yrs). Upon inspecting it I was told I would need a stainless steel liner, new damper and flashing repair and that it would cost $5,100. I agreed and they proceeded to do the work that day and finished the job on the Monday 12/4/2023. I was told i was all set and everthing was guaranteed. On 12/10/2023 my son came over to help me try the fireplace. After about 45 minutes the smoke alarm went off and the house started to smell of smoke. We figured maybe it was because it was the first time using it. The smell of smoke stayed on the house for over a week. On New Years eve I figured I would have a nice fire. Once again after about 45 minutes the smoke alarm went off (once again sending my dog to the back door petrified) and the house began to get smokey. I had to open windows to sleep that night it was so bad. I called Shamrock Chimney on 1/2/2024 and was told that someone would call me. On 1/3/2024 I texted my contact person to tell him no one had responded to my call and the issue I was having. I was scheduled for 1/6/2024. They never showed and I had to call them to find out they couldn't make it. They rescheduled 1/13/2024 and once again they couldn't make. On 1/20/2024 they finally showed up only to tell me now I needed to pay another $3,300 for a fireplace liner. Not ever mentioned before. We had words and I had to remind him that I was the customer!!! Later that day I spoke with their supervisor and he defended them, never apologizing for their actions and told me the best they could do was charge me $2,700 for the additional work.My son checked with a camera in the chimney and it was never cleaned before putting in the liner. I have since then notified RI Consumers. They have apparently received a check for $2,650. I have never spoke with or agreed to anything from Shamrock Chimney.I still have firehazard chimney.Business Response

We called Shamrock chimney, and they came out the same day on 11/8/23. They did the work the same day too. They installed an incorrect size liner, didnt connect water heater to the correct flue, the sealing on the chimney that they did washed away, and closet is still leaking due to this. The water heater not connected safely which is a safety issue but we are not within code in many areas. We now need to spend money to fix everything to become within code as if nothing was done in the beginning. We had a chimney inspection on 11/27/23 by Ultimate Chimney Sweep who formed us of these issues, and didnt pass. We have reached out to Shamrock chimney many times and have been told we are on the schedule and someone will come out to fix these issues, they never showed up. At this point we need a refund as I dont trust Shamrocks service and have spent more money fixing the issues they created. I have photos that the chimney sweeping company took as well if those are needed to show items were not installed correctly.Business Response

On December 16th, 2023, I hired Shamrock Chimney to repair a water leak that was in my fireplace. The work was completed in two days which involved re-pointing of the Chimney, installing a new dampener and a new liner on the gas side of the Chimney. The leak has not been fixed, they have been back a few times but the issue has not been corrected. Today they called me and said that I should not call them again and the hung up on me. I would like to get my money back so I can hire another contractor to fix the issue.Customer Answer

On 12-28-2023 two representatives from Shamrock C & C came to clean the chimney of one wood burning fireplace. They claimed that the creosote buildup necessitated a new flue, which they claimed to install. I have no evidence that they cleaned or installed anything. For this they charged me $6,013.00, which I put on a credit card. A few hours later realize.that I have been duped.Business Response

On 10/21/2023 after cancelling 2 previous times and being late this day, a technician named ****** and his assistant showed up in the pouring rain to clean my chimney. While I am convinced they did not clean the chimney, I have not hired anyone else to prove this. What I can prove is that by the time they were done, it was dark and unbeknownst to me, they were heaving bricks and concrete debris from a previous job into the shrubs along my driveway. I did not notice this until the leaves fell off. I tried to call all of the phone numbers i could find, both on the invoice and on the website. All the numbers seemed to loop back to a gentleman in Ringe ** who was incredible rude and completely discourteous named ******. I was never connected with the owner of the company. I spoke with a man named ********************* who sighed loudly when i explained his workers had dumped trash. But his only resolution was to forward me on the angry **************************. To this date no one has contacted me. They are an incredibly dishonest company and this was a criminal act. I did reach out to Concord PD who has also not been able to get in contact with them. I sent a message to Shamrocks FB page. When i commented on a photo of a chimney they had taken down the same day they came to my house and asked if that was the chimney they dumped on my property they took the post down!Business Response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:I reached out directly to the owner and the worker who came to my home. They have my contact information. No one has responded to me. No one from the company has called to schedule a time to come remove the debris (from a different job site) that they threw in my woods. They threw concrete and bricks on my property and absolutely rudely did not respond. Their response to BBB is not a proper response. I have since had my chimney inspected and was told it look like my chimney hadn’t been cleaned. This company should not be allowed to do this work in NH when the consequences mean a home burns down or worse. They are disrespectful to customers and have absolutely not resolved my problem.

I hired Shamrock C&C for a routine chimney sweep/inspect. They cleaned my chimney, told me my ****** damper was warped beyond repair, then quoted me $600 to install a new damper at the top of the chimney. In the process of all this, they also broke the operating handle for my ****** damper. I didn't pursue that issue immediately, because they had informed me my damper needed replacement anyway.About a month later while I was examining competitor's quotes and generally researching the topic, I "fixed" the damper myself by shifting it one inch to the left on its hinge. It was never damaged.I contacted Shamrock C&C to ask them to replace the damper handle they broke. In short, they were dismissive on the phone, and repeatedly failed to call me back after promising they would investigate.Customer Answer

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:
I gain neither satisfaction nor value from Shamrock’s platitudes. This sounds like hollow and formulaic PR-speak to me. I also find it vexing that they insist I reach out to them for resolution. Despite their reply, I have long assumed that Shamrock has no real interest in resolving this. If they want to prove me wrong, they have my contact information. I don’t intend to expend any more of my own valuable time in order to give Shamrock the opportunity to snub me anew.Shamrock, the *minimum* appropriate resolution for breaking something is to pay for its replacement. If you actually care to, permission granted to go ahead and do that, or else propose an alternative.

July I hired Shamrock chimney to fix chimney. The company kept cancelling & rescheduling but finally came out. The technician was ************* They said the chimney needed to be relined, a cap replaced on the top, They returned the next Saturday (late) & supposedly put in a liner & fixed the basement connection by switching to a new hole. Slathered that with concrete, wall and supposedly replaced the cap on top of the chimney which they glued to the roof & ruined the new roof job, shingles off, concrete everywhere. Not only that but it seems that they only put a top piece in liner in and skipped putting a whole liner in which is a common grift according to the chimney people that came & inspected everything. However it was nothing you could see or know as a regular person so I called them back to do my wood stove. They dodge calls & cancelled appts for two weeks until the finally showed up at 5:30pm on drugs. High, so bad that their blue eyes glowed because of the red ring around the Iris. told me they had a hard day due to van breaking down promised ok to work. called my neighbors over cause dont trust them. ******** looked at their work and stated there was no liner in the chimney. ***** gets defensive. My neighbor points out liner they are using for ********* wont last. Come to find out it was a cheap dryer tubing. Crunchable. They squished the tubes into each other. Affixed to wall. Can longer use chimney. covered with concrete so you cant tell. Big hole in back per fire chief. They were in my house till 3am. ***** left his phone. when I opened the door to give it to him he had only Boxers on. His wife was asleep in car. I ended up having to work & lift the wood stove myself 7 times (cancer patient with a heart issue) dropped his wifes phone that he used for a flashlight down chimney. Destroyed wood pile. Left trash. Wife left dirty tampon in yard. Concrete destroyed floors, tables, door yard. No cover. Wood stove doesnt work. Rain coming down chimney.Customer Answer

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:i cant imagine having them being able to repair the damage they have done. They even concreted it in so I couldnt tell they did it until the fire chief and another company checked it out. I certainly wouldnt want druggies or guys that get naked in my front yard at 1am near my home. They can pay back what they owe me for having to have others come repair it. But their damage is done.

On October 2, 2020 Shamrock Chimney came to clean our chimneys and stated that we needed a liner installed for one of our chimneys (the one used for our boiler/oil). He was able to install same day and we proceeded with the work given the need and potential fire hazard. In 2022, smoke began coming out of our woodburning stove and I called them back and they gave me a proposal for the other chimney stating we needed a liner in that one now. I had asked why that wouldn't have proposed at the time of the last inspection and we had barely used the stove within that year so it seemed strange to me and potentially unneccessary. On February 28, 2022 we had another chimney company come out for a second opinion who confirmed we didn't need the other liner at that time but did pose that there had been some issues with prior work. The chimney they insisted needed a liner did not appear to be cleaned well and the cap was cemented onto the top of the chimney when it should be removable for cleaning purposes. This required them to replace it. On October 4, 2023 the other company came back again and in looking at our chimney/boiler noted that the chimeny liner used was too small for the boiler size. We had to have a **** company come out and adjust the BTUs on our boiler by half because the liner size is too small for the size of the boiler. We now need to rip out the old liner and have a full replacement that will cost over $5000. It also has caused our oil burning to be less effectient and a potential health hazard the past few years and cost more money in oil costs. I called Shamrock as soon as both the **** and other chimney company gave me their findings. I called multiple times with no call backs. Talked to a operations technician who was extremely rude and said they would setup a time to come look at it and never called back. After my calling 3 more times they made an appt for 10/24/23 and no call no showed even after I confirmed the **** time slot & called when no one cameCustomer Answer

DO NOT USE SHAMROCK C&C **** Chimney!!December 18, 2022 Shamrock C&C, **** out of ********* ** came out to replace the liner that connects to our furnace **** after discovering that the existing furnace **** had disintegrated (clean-out was full of debris)So the liner was replaced and they also told us we needed a new crown at the top and needed to extend it 6" with a ************** clay **** and put a new cap on top of that. which they then proceeded to do.We paid them $2750 with a check and they were done after maybe 1.5 hours of work.Fast forward to this fall (October 2023) and we go to use the woodstove on a chilly night and couldn't seem to get it started and when it finally did start - water and steam started sputtering out into the room thru the vents at the top of the woodstove insert. Turns out the top of the stove has a lip around the edge and it was full of water! **** inspecting the clean-out in the basement, we found it was wet too and had been leaking into the furnace room! Granted it has been a very wet and rainy Fall - but that should not matter. We had lived here 27 years and NEVER had a problem with even moisture, let alone water getting in.These people are supposed to be Chimney experts and professionals...they will not even call back. They did a shoddy job and now apparently will not stand behind their work. I guess they only want new customers who they can do sub-par work for...and count on no one taking them to small claims. Cannot get photos of work since we don't have a ladder tall enough to take photos.***** us for not checking the BBB site BEFORE hiring! At this point, not sure we want them back out here...I guess were out almost 3K :(Customer Answer

Shamrock C&C **** installed 2 chimney liners in 2 separate chimneys at my house on 9/3/21. My energy supplier performed an inspection of my furnace on 8/21/23. They discovered that one of the liners leading to the propane supply was installed correctly. The second liner in the chimney leading to the furnace could not be seen as it was left dangling in the chimney out of sight. Most importantly, it is this chimney leading to the furnace that needed the new liner to cover the build-up of creosote, etc. Photos taken at the time of the inspection on 8/21/23 clearly show the build up in the chimney with no sign of the liner.A lady at the Shamrock office said on the phone that the company would set up an appointment for an inspection, but I have never received a call and they keep giving me excuses. The owner, ***************************** (Mobile ************) who actually did the work, will not answer my texts or phone calls. They just keep putting me off. And I will need to light my furnace soon. At the moment I believe the hanging liner is creating more of a problem than it ever solved.Business Response
