I moved in to the Renaissance Terrace apartments (Azalea Dr) on January 2015, I lived there until January 2024, almost a decade! They never once paint or renovate the apartment. The water heater once flooded the apartment, all they did, was to put in a fan for over a week! It feels like all they care about is money, not the well being of the humans that live there. Before moving out, I spent over a week, cleaning the place, I covered all nail holes, I rented a carpet cleaner and cleaned the whole place. I moved stove and freezer and thoroughly cleaned underneath and behind them, I then took detailed photos and a video walk-through. Still... They took all my security deposit and only returned $120 and kept $2,213. I played by the rules and even paid my last months rent. How can you charge me $1,263 for a stain in the wall when I have lived in the apartment for 9+ years? This is extremely unfair, and to add insult to injury, on 01/01/2024, their dumpster shed caught fire and burned my van that was legally parked in a designated parking spot and their insurance denied my claim. The very least you could have done, was to refund my deposit in full. This just shows that there's no human touch in this process. FYI: Please...Please install security cameras, it will protect you and your tenants properties. On 01/01/2024 I was informed that a whole family was lighting up fireworks by the dumpster shed, Police tried to locate them but no success because there were no security cameras.

Middlesex management, has stolen **** from our credit, we had on our account. ***** attempted to use the funds, to pay for an outstanding water bill. I learned this happened, when I checked our Middlesex management account, and noticed there was nearly 3 grand missing from the credit. ***** told me, he is unable to use the funds for the water bill. We asked when would the money be returned, and he has yet to do so. This conversation, took place back in July of 2023

All NJDCA money is applied to rent only.   Any monies that the tenant has paid will be moved to cover any fees applied to the account - example - water and sewer fees, late fees and any other fees.

I had received a cease letter stating that management had seen I had a pitbull and need to immediately remove her from the property because it is breaking my lease and I will be evicted. It is not breaking my lease because when I moved in, I provided an ESA Letter from my therapist stating I have a service animal. Everyone at ******** ******* is aware I have a dog because they refuse to do any work orders if I'm not home. I was very transparent and honest when I first moved into this complex. Now they are trying to tell me I'm breaking the lease and to remove my dog or I will be getting evicted. I have proof of my therapist emailing and contacting Middlesex Management regarding my service animal, so I do not understand why this is happening. They are now making my mental disability worse because of this threat. This is a violation of the disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Housing Act, and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

I am a federal employee specifically an 1811/criminal investigator with the ********** of ******** Security. My employment requires me to sign a mobility agreement. I am currently going through a PCS move and have been trying to get in contact with someone in the lease buyout department for months now. I am looking for assistance in getting in contact with them to discuss their lease buyout option.

Middlesex Management guarantees that work orders and maintenance requests are fulfilled within 72 business hours of submission. I live in the ******************************. I had submitted a maintenance request for a broken washing machine on Monday 1/1/2024. The office was closed for New Years and I took this into account when submitting my request. I called the office on Tuesday 1/2/2024 to confirm that the work order had been received. They confirmed that the work order had been received and that the normal processes would be followed. I waited the full 72 hours. No one arrived to repair the broken appliance and called them back on Friday 1/5/2024. I called them in the morning. They said they would send a reminder out. No one came out for the rest of the day. I called them again at 11:43pm on 1/5/2024. I explained the situation to whoever answered the phone. They told me someone would come out in the morning to resolve the situation. Today (Saturday 1/6/2024) no one arrived to fix it. I called them again at 2:33pm on 1/6/2024. They then told me that they do not come out to fix appliances during the weekend, which is contradictory to the information I was given the night prior. And he had no way to guarantee that the appliance I am paying for will get fixed in a timely manner or if they ever even received a work order in the first place. To add to this incredibly unprofessional and downright disgusting treatment of tenant issues, everyone I spoke to was incredibly rude and lacked understanding or compassion for the situation. I was continually treated as an issue to get rid of and not as a paying tenant who is attempting to utilize the services that they claim to provide. Frankly I am filing a complaint here because of my inability to come to a solution with Middlesex Management due to their inability to communicate effectively with their staff and tenants.

    Business Response

The washing machine was repaired today, January 8, 2024.  Though our goal is to complete maintenance requests within 72 hours, it is not something we can guarantee.
When a work order is created, the email confirmation begins with the following language: Our goal is to have someone address your request within 72 hours, but please note that we do prioritize based on the urgency of the request.

Hello my name is *********************************** I just recently applied for a 2 bedroom apartment at ***************** in ********** ** Apt 404. I need an explanation of why my application was denied. I spoke with *********************** the rental office manager at ***************** and I was very transparent with him about me having bad credit. He then told me to find a co signer to cover the credit end because my income is covered by section 8. I then got my mother who has great credit to co sign for the apartment. I submitted my application yesterday and it was denied this morning when I checked. I wanna know how I was denied off of just my information and my mother information was not ever ran.I also wanted to let you know also that originally I wanted to apply to ****************** Apt **** because it was under my voucher amount. I went and viewed the apartment and told *********************** I was very interested. Then proceeded to take his advice and get a co signer. When I was submitting the application he then gave me a call and told me someone else applied for it. At that point he removed the apartment and told me that someone offered to pay 12 months in advance. That I should apply for ***************** and if the person does not sign the contract to pay the rent for the year he would switch my ***************** application to ****************** Apt ****. I also need my application fees back because they never ran my co signers information and I was denied. I say fees because my credit is and bad and I wouldve never submitted my application if my co signer was not attached. I am looking for a explanation on my rental application regarding to the co signer and my rental fees. I have a recording of *********************** which he is very well aware of saying he doesnt know why the application was not approved and that it is weird.

    Business Response

The information given to the tenant by the ************* was a mistake. When a Tenant is a Section 8 tenant they can not have a guarantor on the lease.   We apologize for the confusion.

    Complaint: 20788694

I am rejecting this response because:

the response is not a solution for days I went back and forth to ***************** looking at numerous apartments because of *********************** wasting gas and my time telling me that everything will be fine. This company has took my money and made me feel less of a person by doing business this way. He got my mother involved even telling her things would be fine and it will all work out for her being a co signer. Up until yesterday *** attached a recording of him still admitting to the fact that the company shouldve approved my application with my co signer. Also the response is not accurate they dont accept co signer with a person who has section 8. You can have someone go there or even call a BestRentNJ property and ask anyone of those leasing managers do they accept co signer with section 8 they all will say yes but only for income not credit. *********************** was the only leasing manager saying thats not right Ive moved people in with section 8 with a co signer for people with bad credit. Also their response they sent back is very disregarding and is not even mentioning anything towards explaining themselves about my complaint nor even mentioning anything about those application fees since I was supposedly told incorrect information. This company I feel is fraud honestly and who knows how many people they have done this too I would like to seek legal action. Because this process was mentally draining and they will not fire him this company will keep him working there to do this to the next person. I would like to seek legal action for pain and suffering and discrimination. They didnt touch base on the fact of *********************** saying someone filled out a application and offered him 12 months rent to move in the apartment hasnt been back on the site since. So thats what is the application process really for they pick and choose who they want to allow to move in because Ive never filled about a application for an apartment and on the application you can put down I have 12 months worth of rent.

    Regards,

    ***********************************

I submitted all the documents to remove myself as an occupant on the lease, which includes a written document and the form required by the management. Both documents were notarized and mailed. The management office still refuses to remove my name from the lease agreement despite all the submitted document and that I'm not longer living in the unit. The previous lease ended on July 31, 2023 and I have submitted the document before the lease end date. Given the instruction was not clear, I only notarized the written document and not the form. As a follow-up, I have notarized the form afterwards and mailed it. I have called the leasing management office and they claimed that the letter was received late and refused the request. It takes time for the mail to get delivered, processed, notarized, and send back. I'm requesting to remove my name from the lease agreement because I am no longer living in the place. This should not be a difficult thing to update the agreement and I have all the proper documents.

    Business Response

    Date: 10/09/2023

We received the tenant's request to remove their name from the Lease on 7/31/2023 (a month after it was due).   We were going to honor their request but first we needed the Occupant update form to be notarized.   On 8/1/2023 the tenant was mailed an incomplete letter requesting the form be notarized and returned to us by 8/10/2023.  The letter was not received until 9/15/2023 (45 days later).   A denial letter was mailed to the tenant.  The tenant can submit  another request  30 days before (60/30/2024) the lease renews.

    Complaint: 20690414

I am rejecting this response because: all the require document have been submitted. Due to the paper mailing process and other problems, the form was delayed. Anyway, the leasing management needs to honor the occupant removal as the occupant has already moved out from the unit. The occupant should not be liable for an entire year. If there is additional fee needed to get the agreement, the leasing management should advise to do so. The policy is already ridiculous enough that the occupant can only be removed at the time of renewal. In addition, the form have been submitted with the tedious process of notarizing. If this can be done in email, the process can be much more efficient and quicker.

Tenants lease renewed 8/1/2023, which is the same day we received their request, and we were still going to allow it even though it was a month late, but we had to mail him an incomplete letter asking for the request/change form to be notarized, and signed by all lease holders, and he was given a deadline to August 15th to resubmit everything.  We didnt hear back from him for almost a month and a half, on 9/15, and by that time, it was extremely late and we had no choice but to deny the request.  The Tenant  must resubmit the request when his lease is up for renewal again in **** by 6/30/****.

So I received 3 NTC "Notice To Cease" Letters from Middlesex Management within a week for refusing to let maintenance into the apartment we stay at and after reading it. It’s very unprofessional and threatening to me and my Family about eviction coming from Middlesex Management. And another NTC Letter is coming to my mailbox today 9/8/23 I received a notification from the USPS when mail is coming to my mailbox. I am very upset about this knowing that maintenance simply lied and said that I refused to let them into the apartment. As I mention in previous email with Middlesex Management that my son was home and my son said that maintenance asked was his parents home and when my son told them we weren’t home maintenance said ok and just left. My son is well of age and they could’ve just stated to my son that they were there to clean the dryer vents. Now they are suppose to come out to the apartment 9/12/23 let's see if they come. Maintenance and Middlesex Management needs new management period. The building my family and I stay at needs the front and back door fixed it's going on 2 month maintenance or any of them came out to fix that. There are families that live in this building do management care about the safety of the families that stay here? I don't think so the cameras probably don't even work. I don't like to be threatening and definitely not my family to be threatening either. How can you threaten families with eviction because maintenance refused to do their job. They have Lied and caused me and my family pain. My blood pressure has risen which caused me to take my blood pressure pills again.

    Date: 09/11/2023

Issues with Middlesex Management in Woodbridge, NJ. I live in one there apartment complex and am having issues with my downstairs neighbor who seems to have a problem with another tenant besides my self and previous ones. You email and call Middlesex Management and no one get back to you. I need justice for my situation which is beyond my control, get evicited due to small children making noise, really. Visitators that don't live here, and a dog in which I don't have. I need help trying to get to the bottom of this.

The Tenant came to our our Tenant Room on 8/15/23 and spoke to one of our Legal Representatives.   She was advised on what she needed to comply.  The Tenant was satisfied.

    Business Response

    Date: 09/06/2023

The Tenant's request to add 2 occupants - a child and an adult male - are being reviewed.  There still is a question about the adult female - the Landlord has monitored that the adult female is living in the apartment.  We have requested a copy of the lease showing where she lives but the tenant refuses to supply that information.   The tenant will have to go to court and produce the evidence that the adult female does not live in the apartment.   As for the noise the tenant was made aware that the Landlord remains a neutral party and that she needs to dispute in court with the complaining tenant.

I am rejecting this response because:

I asked to show pieces of mail as well as the IDs I already submitted which I have done in the past so why all of a sudden I have to show someone else’s lease that is ridiculous. She said she was going to see if it was acceptable but never got back to me in regards to that. Like I mentioned I have done so in the past, and provided time and time again that the one unauthorized tenants does not live with me
