Was towed on December 9th 2024 at 3:30am near ********************************** as a guest for a resident at ********************************************, *********************************, for the reason of "parked on grass". There is no curb at all, the terrain is wavy up and down the street between the pavement and grass that blends together over the years because this street is more like a big ally between apartment builds on one side and the backyards of the next street over houses that's fenced off on the other. I'm on the pavement, just a little of mostly dirt and some grass but it's not grass because it's on top of the pavement. Right? Also, there's no signs to not park on grass. There was a memo put up about parking on the grass because people where parking vertically to the horizontal pavement grass blended line by the ********************************* in the building. Another thing, *********************************, says they don't own that street, they are going off the rules of what the tow company says. So, that memo doesn't count, right? There for there must be signs up stating to not park on grass. This is a slim company that is praying on people living and visiting there in my opinion.

      Business Response

      Dear ****** *****,

We appreciate the opportunity to address this matter and provide clarity regarding the incident.

On 12/9/24, a vehicle owned by the complainant was towed after it was found parked on the grass. This action was taken in accordance with parking rules which clearly prohibits parking on grassy areas to preserve the property and maintain safety.

While we understand the complainants assertion that a memo was distributed rather than a physical sign being posted, the policy was clearly communicated to all relevant parties. A memo, whether physical or digital, serves as an official notice, and it is the responsibility of recipients to comply with stated property rules.

Furthermore, signage at the property clearly indicates that unauthorized or improperly parked vehicles are subject to towing. This includes vehicles parked in non-designated areas, such as grassy spaces.

Our actions in this case were consistent with our agreement with the property management and in compliance with local regulations. As such, the tow was justified, and the associated charges are valid.

We strive to ensure clear communication and fair enforcement of property rules and are willing to address any concerns within reason. However, we stand by our position that the complainants vehicle was in violation of parking policies.

Thank you for your understanding and for allowing us the opportunity to clarify this matter.

      Sincerely,
      Contract Tow

I was at the laundromat washing clothes and the driver of tow truck was towing my vehicle when I ask him why is he taking my truck if I can park right here he continues to say I can't park there I'm blocking the handicap when I was not and told him I can park here and even the ladies who work in the laundromat try to tell the driver it's fine I can park there the male who tow my truck didn't care to listen so I told him he not taking my truck til a police officer comes to the lot and I had my doors open and my sister and sister in law were on the sides telling him he can't take my truck cuz there no sign I couldn't park there the driver proceeded to start his truck and drive while we were on the doors and drove more faster when he seen we weren't letting him take my truck driving down kedzie with us holding the doors not caring if we were to get hurt or dragged under his tires. Police arrived after he left and even told me that they didn't see why I couldn't be park there and call the company and driver and ask them why would they take my truck if there no visible sign I couldn't be park where I was at and that he could've hurt ones of us driving and that if we told him we was calling the cops that they said he wasn't supposed to proceed to drive with us holding the door that he had to wait til they arrived. I feel like the company has employees that are very disrespectful and disgusting to have that happen and I know I'm not wrong if the cops said themselves I was allow to park where I was at. And the sign that I sent out clearly states that you'll be towed if you're park and not doing business in the lot and clearly I was washing clothes so again why am I paying for my vehicle from being towed when I'm a customer washing at the same location I've been coming to for the past 15 years it's ridiculous that's something like this can happen.

      Dear ******* ********,

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We take all complaints seriously and strive to ensure fair and lawful handling of all incidents. Below is our response to the concerns raised:

According to our records and local regulations, vehicles blocking designated handicapped spaces are subject to immediate towing to ensure accessibility compliance. Our team followed the procedure as mandated by Illinois to address the parking violation.

We are deeply concerned by any claims of physical altercation and do not condone such behavior under any circumstances. However, based on your statement that the police declined to proceed with filing charges, it appears there may have been insufficient evidence to substantiate the claim.

Our goal is to address your concerns transparently and fairly. If you believe there has been an error or misconduct, please provide further details or documentation, and we will investigate the matter thoroughly.

We value the opportunity to resolve this issue and ensure your concerns are addressed promptly.

My vehicle was illegally towed from my residence, vehicle had a clearly displayed residential parking pass. "Contract towing" was stating that, that portion of parking is for guest only. There is a guest pass which only allows you to park in guest parking lot, but my vehicle had residential pass which allows me to park in the guest parking or residential.

      Dear **** **********,

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. At Contract Towing, we are committed to upholding our policies and ensuring a fair and organized environment for all residents and guests.

This complaint pertains to the towing of a vehicle parked in a space designated for *********************************** policies clearly outline that guest parking is reserved exclusively for non-residents. These rules are communicated to all residents.

In this case, the vehicle was identified as belonging to a resident and was parked in a guest-only area, in violation of the policy. The towing was conducted in accordance with the community rules and regulations, which are enforced to ensure availability for guests and to maintain order within the parking areas.

We understand that towing can be frustrating, and we strive to avoid such situations whenever possible. However, adherence to parking rules is essential for the benefit of the entire community.

Thank you for your understanding and for allowing us to clarify this matter.

Contract towing towed my car (properly parked in the community but failed to display the parking permit in the correct location, irrelevant to this case). Upon retrieving the car and inspecting the vehicle, I spotted and pointed out some damages to a back wheel by their towing (pictures included in the attachment) to the staff. I was instructed to send the complaint to the company email. The company acknowledged the email a few days later. But they stated over the phone that they would not contact me for a solution within at least the next 3 months. It seems that they would rather prolong the process than reach a solution.

Thank you for reaching out regarding the recent complaint made by *** ***. We appreciate the opportunity to provide clarification on this matter.

      1. Damage Claim Review
The customer has claimed that their vehicle sustained damage as a result of our services. However, upon thorough review and inspection, it was determined that the reported damage was pre-existing. This assessment was based on the following:

Photographic Evidence: Our standard procedure includes taking photographs of vehicles before any action is taken, such as towing. In the photographs taken prior to service, the alleged damage was already visible, indicating that it was present before our involvement.
Given this evidence, we concluded that the damage reported by the customer could not have occurred during our handling of the vehicle.

      2. Communication and Transparency
We communicated our findings to the customer and explained why the claim was denied. However, as of now, the customer has not provided any additional evidence that disputes our assessment or suggests new damage occurred as a result of our actions.

      3. Our Commitment to Fairness
We take claims of damage very seriously and have a thorough review process in place to ensure that all customer concerns are evaluated fairly. While we stand by our initial decision to deny this particular claim based on the evidence, we remain open to further discussions if the customer can provide new information or documentation supporting their case.

We appreciate your assistance in mediating this situation and are committed to resolving any legitimate concerns raised by our customers.

      Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because: The business doesn't support its statement that the damage was produced before the towing and falsely used a picture taken by me at the time when I retrieved the vehicle. Please find the picture evidence in the attachment, where it clearly shows that the picture was provided by me, after the towing, not before. If their claim was true that they have proof the damage was present before their job, please include evidence instead of taking a partial screenshot of the email chain to misclaim the source of the picture.

In addition, as shown in the email chain from the attachment, I have replied to them on Nov. 5, to which they never followed up.

      Dear *** ***,

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to address this concern. At Contract Towing, we take customer satisfaction and transparency very seriously, and we appreciate the opportunity to clarify the situation regarding this damage claim.

Upon reviewing the complaint and conducting a thorough investigation, we found that the damage in question was pre-existing and occurred prior to our service. This conclusion was supported by photos taken before tow.

Our company policy is to document the condition of the vehicle before and after every service to ensure clarity and accountability. Based on this documentation, the damage noted in the claim matches pre-existing conditions recorded before our involvement.

While we regret any inconvenience or frustration this situation may have caused, we are confident that the evidence supports our findings. That said, we remain committed to maintaining open communication and resolving issues whenever possible. If the customer has any additional information or evidence to provide, we are more than willing to review it.

Thank you for your understanding and for facilitating this process. Please feel free to reach out if any further clarification is needed.

I am rejecting this response because:

Contract towing, the business, still insists that the damage occurred prior to the towing and claims to have documented the damage without providing any evidence to support their claim. A full email communication between us was included in the previous communication, which clearly shows I sent them the pictures.

I urge the business to start communication and negotiation in good faith. Taking responsibility is the first step to avoid an incident like this to happen in the future.

This company is a predatory towing company. They towed our service truck while our technician was inside the home getting a parking pass from the resident. They then charge an astronomical fee to get your vehicle out of their impound lot. They should be shut down for the way they operate.

      Business Response

      Date: 10/26/2024

      Dear ***** P,

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We understand your frustration regarding the towing of your service truck, and we appreciate the opportunity to clarify our policies and address your concerns.

At Contract Towing, we are committed to complying with all local ordinances and regulations in providing our services. Our goal is to maintain parking compliance and ensure safe, accessible spaces for all residents and visitors. In this instance, our driver followed the established protocol for vehicles parked without visible authorization.

However, we regret any inconvenience you experienced while obtaining a parking pass from the resident. We are committed to fair practices, and we continuously review our fees to ensure they are reasonable and in line with industry standards.

Thank you again for your feedback. Your satisfaction is important to us, and we are always looking for ways to improve our services and communication with our customers.

      Sincerely,

Incident Description:On the morning of September 15th, at 8:07 AM, I parked my car in the Target parking lot and briefly stepped away, about 10 meters from ******, to deliver some items to a friend and ask if they needed anything from ******. By 8:15 AM, when I returned to go inside the store, I found my vehicle had already been towed. The towing company justified their actions by claiming that I had parked in an event zone during event hours. However, upon further investigation, I confirmed that the event was scheduled for 7:30 PM, not in the morning. The towing company towed my vehicle in less than 10 minutes, without regard for the fact that I was about to shop at ******. They hastily made the decision to tow my vehicle without any legitimate justification, seemingly motivated solely by the desire to collect towing fees. How could they have determined within 6 minutes that I was not going to shop at ******? This demonstrates a clear intent to exploit customers and generate profits from unjustified towing. Vehicle Damage: On the following day, September 17th, I discovered significant damage to the splash shield of my car. Given that I had the part just last year, I can confidently state that the damage occurred as a result of the towing process. After consulting with my dealership, the estimated cost to repair the damage is as follows: Parts: $273.43 Labor: $75.00 Total Repair Cost: $348.43 Claim: The towing company[CONTRACT TOWING] and ******[************************************] wrongfully towed my vehicle outside of event hours, in a span of just 6 minutes during which I had full intention to shop at ******. Additionally, their actions resulted in damage to my vehicle. I am seeking the following compensation: Repair costs for the damage caused by the towing: $348.43 Refund of the unjust towing fee: $240.70 Total Claim Amount: $589.13

      Dear Fanglue Ju,

Thank you for reaching out to us through the Better Business Bureau. We appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns regarding the towing of your vehicle and the damage claim.

Your vehicle was towed from ****** customer parking on September 15, 2024. This property is for customer parking only, and is marked with signage reflecting this. These signs indicate that vehicles not adhering to the propertys parking policy are subject to being towed. Our records indicate that your vehicle was in violation of these parking policies, which led to the tow.

We understand how frustrating this experience can be, especially when attending an event like a concert/pre-concert sales. However, our goal is to help maintain orderly parking conditions.

      2. Alleged Damage to the Vehicle: You have mentioned damage to your vehicle as a result of the tow. However, we have not received any prior correspondence or proof, such as photos, to substantiate this claim. Our towing operators follow strict procedures to ensure that vehicles are handled with care, and any existing damage is documented at the time of the tow.

We strive to conduct our business with the highest level of professionalism and transparency. We are committed to resolving this situation in a fair and timely manner. If you have any questions or wish to discuss the matter further, please do not hesitate to reach out to us directly.

      Sincerely,
      Contract Towing

      Complaint: 22362477

I am rejecting this response because:

And I also would like to Reject Business Response and continue to dispute because:
On the morning of September 15th, at approximately 8:07 AM, I parked my vehicle in the Target customer parking area. After parking, I briefly walked 5-10 meters away from the Target entrance to meet a friend and ask about a ********* order we were planning to purchase inside ******. Within a mere 6-7 minutes of discussing what to buy, I discovered my vehicle had already been towed, despite not having left the vicinity of Target and while still intending to make a purchase.
This rapid and unreasonable action, conducted in less than 10 minutes, is completely unjust. There was no attempt to verify whether I was a legitimate Target customer before ******************** my car. As I had parked with the intention of shopping at ****** and had not exceeded a reasonable timeframe for parking, I find the decision to tow my vehicle without any verification to be unwarranted.
Additionally, in response to the alleged damage to my vehicle, I have already provided all necessary documentation and photographs to support my claim. It is evident that the towing company has not properly reviewed this evidence. Specifically, I replaced my vehicle's splash shield recently, and the damages caused were a direct result of mishandling during the tow. I am prepared to provide further proof if necessary, but this information has already been made available.
My formal requests are as follows:
Full reimbursement of the unjust towing fees.
Compensation for the damages caused to my vehicle, including repair costs
(detailed in the attached documents: page1 - event time, page2 - my parking and communication with my friend, page3 - the towing time, page4 - repair costs, page5 - photos of vehicle damage, page6 - proof of recent splash shield replacement).

      Sincerely,

      Business Response

      Date: 11/09/2024

Thank you for the opportunity to provide a further response to the recent complaint submitted by Fanglue Ju. We understand that the customer has reiterated their concerns, and we would like to clarify our stance on the matter once again.

The customer's vehicle was towed from our premises because it was left unattended while the individual attended pre-concert merchandise sale. As clearly indicated by the signage on our property, unauthorized parking is not permitted, and vehicles left unattended without prior approval are subject to towing. The tow was conducted in accordance with local regulations and our policy, which is implemented to ensure that parking spaces are available for authorized visitors.

The customer has alleged that their vehicle sustained damage during the towing process. However, we have not been contacted directly by the customer regarding this claim prior to their complaint to the BBB. In cases of alleged damage, our standard procedure requires the customer to reach out to us immediately so that we can investigate the claim and work with our towing service to review the incident.

We take all customer concerns seriously and aim to resolve them promptly and fairly.

We appreciate your assistance in mediating this complaint and remain committed to resolving any legitimate issues presented by our customers.

      Complaint: 22362477

I am rejecting this response because:

I strongly object to Contract Towing's one-sided description of the incident and their attempt to deflect responsibility. Let me clarify the facts:

I was present at the location as a legitimate Target customer. I had briefly stepped out to meet my friends who were in line, asking what items they wanted me to purchase from ****** for them. And all of us were in ******* premises region during that time. I also have a purchase record from ****** to prove my status as a legitimate customer. This in no way constitutes "unauthorized" or "unattended" parking.

Most unacceptably, the towing company towed my vehicle within just 6 minutes, without conducting any verification. This action clearly wasn't driven by management needs but rather by the desire to collect excessive towing fees. This predatory business practice is appalling.

Regarding the vehicle damage, the company's suggestion to contact them directly is merely an attempt to divert attention. Based on their already demonstrated unreasonable attitude, I can fully anticipate that such communication would be futile, wasting my time listening to excuses and justifications.

      My demands are clear:
1.Full refund of the unreasonable towing fees
2.Compensation for vehicle damage caused by their aggressive towing
3.Acknowledgment and correction of these predatory business practices

      Sincerely,

      Fanglue Ju

I parked in Target lot (************************************) next to ****************** office. I was planning to go to Target to buy a shirt as I spilled coffee all over mine as well as buying tickets to to go to an even in October. I decided to go to the ********** first so I parked near there. I was in the ********** for a total of 6 minutes. When I came out my car was towed. There were no signs about the towing where I was parked so I had to go into Target to get the number of the Towing place. I did see a sign in front of Target at that point saying not to park in their lot to go to an event. I was NOT going to an event. I was going to Target. I understand it is hard to prove that I was going to go to Target but you would think they could wait longer than 6 minutes to tow the car and then charge me ******. As there were no signs I thought my car was stolen. I am suprised and appalled that they would tow the car when I was a Target customer. I would like to be reinbursed for this fee and let people know before more people are scammed as I was. The towing company told me it was because I left the premises first. However, there is no sign that says you can not leave the premises. Thank you!

On Friday 7/12/2024 I called Contract Towing at approximately 2:34 pm I wanted to add a new vehicle to my account, remove my old vehicle that I no longer own and pay for parking. The woman that I spoke with took my information and my debit card payment but I was told that I needed to call back because I didn't have the last four digits of the new vehicles Vin number. I gathered the information and promptly called back at approximately 2:59pm at which time I had informed the woman I spoke to that I was calling back because I didn't have the Vin number the second woman took my information and told me that I was all set to park in the lot as of 07/12/2024 . Well the next morning I come outside to find the vehicle had been towed 2016 Buick ******* plate 455DGE. When I called Contract towing at approximately 4:30 am I was told to call back and speak to a supervisor at 9am. When I called back at 9am the supervisor said that I had paid $50 for parking and I removed my old vehicle dodge charger, but that I never registered a new vehicle and that I was responsible for paying $240 to get the Buick out of the pound. I asked why would I call to remove my old vehicle and pay $50 for parking and not add a new vehicle? At that time the women on the phone became annoyed with my request and said goodbye ***. I paid the $240 fee to get the Buick out of the pound. When I called back to inquire about my $50 parking fee the woman on the phone told me that she just emailed me the link to register a new vehicle. This company is very unprofessional and the employee lack training and communication skills they are rude.

On Friday, July 12th my vehicle was towed by Contract Towing from ******************************. My pass with the complex is active but I had expired tags. When I called Contract Towing, they said my vehicle was inoperable due to tags. I told them my tags was a poor indicator that my vehicle was inoperable as I had been entering the exiting the lot regularly every day. The operator then responds that typically when tags are expired people do not operate their vehicle. I told her that wasn't the case for me and I'm rarely in the same parking spot for multiple days in a row. She then responds that the towers patrol my area 24/7 and determined I hadn't operated my vehicle in seven days. This was a blatant lie!1. Contract Towing DOES NOT patrol our lot 24/7. At the most they make 2 visits in a 24 hours' time frame. 2. There are cameras outside my building proving I've been operating my vehicle and leaving almost every morning.4. There is no shortage of parking spaces in my complexes lot and abandoned vehicles have never been a concern. 3. I was not given an opportunity to prove my vehicle was operating prior to the tow 4. ******************* only emphasized active parking passes, nothing else. And the Contract Towing portal suspiciously disallows auto-renewal for parking passes. 5. I have a record of all my trips for work and errands. 6. Expired tags should be the concern of the city and police - not Contract Towing I have had expired tags before at ******************* with no issue because my pass was current, and my vehicle was operating. I don't believe ********************************************** should be allowed to enforce parking/city laws. That is the responsibility of the City of *******. Contract Towing is now removing vehicles in the loading zone as well. The loading zone does not have signage or a time limit. CT is operating on rules that are more stringent than before without communicating new rules to residents.
