Our 2016 Audi with ****** miles needs a new engine. We purchased this car in 2019 from Audi Beverly Hills. It was a used car with ****** miles. We have had this car serviced regularly at *************** Sport in *************. We took the car there for servicing because this a local mechanic with outstanding reviews (5.0 rating on yelp) and is close to where we live.Recently, we had some problems with the engine and were told by both ********* in ************* and Audi Beverly Hills that we needed a new engine. This surprised **, and my research showed that Audi engines are usually good for ******* miles. So, it seems that this is a defect of some sort and not a result of poor or irregular servicing. We have only driven this car about ****** miles in almost 4 years. We have also owned two other Audi's as well and have always been pleased. We were quoted a price of $20,000 to put in a new engine by Audi Beverly Hills. We have also spent over $1000 so far on rental car fees as well as towing charges and we were charged $295 just have a diagnosis of the problem and price quote by the dealership. So, overall, we will be paying a great sum of money to have the car run correctly due to what seems like a defect in the engine and not caused by anything we did wrong. Of course, it will take two weeks to fix this car, and we will have to rent a car during that time. (Also, we quoted a significantly lower price of $11,000 by ********* in *************. This Audi mechanic has 5.0 rating on yelp, so is very credible). We have spoken to both Beverly Hills Audi as well as Audi Of *******, but there seems to be no willingness to take some responsibility for the engine failure. I think Audi should take responsibility for their engine which went way too early. As it turns out, a used 2016 Audi with about ****** miles is worth about the price of this repair.

On Sunday July 18th, 2021 while visiting the Valencia Audi dealer they were unable to provide a 2021 Etron Prestige. The Valencia dealership contacted Audi Beverly Hills in an attempt to transfer the vehicle to Valencia. Beverly Hills Audi was not willing to transfer the vehicle.

Valencia Audi confirmed that the vehicle was showing available and the MSRP was $85,065 in the Audi inventory system. I also looked on the Beverly Hills Audi website to see the features, color etc., the public website also confirmed the price as $85,065.

The sales representative in Valencia suggested we contact Audi of Beverly Hills to insure the vehicle had not been sold and that if that was the car we wanted to go to Beverly Hills. I called Audi Beverly Hills and spoke to Aaron. Aaron confirmed the Audi Etron Prestige was available. I scheduled an appointment for 5:00 pm on the same afternoon with Aaron.

Upon arriving at Audi Beverly Hills we were told Aaron was not available and they would have another sale representative assist us.

We were handed off to a very nice sales representative. When we asked why the vehicle is showing the price as $15,000 (20%) more than the MSRP. We also asked why there is a difference in the advertised price and the price in the dealership. The salesman mentioned that it was a buyers premium due to the lack of inventory nationwide. We said we are not interested and the reason why was because we felt this was a "shady" practice advertising and then adding 20% more to the price.

The sales representative politely asked us to please give him the opportunity to speak with his manager about the price discrepancy.

We were then introduced to Farhad Douroudian. We explained to Farhad our frustration over the discrepancy in advertised pricing on the Audi internal website and Audi Beverly Hills (among many others AutoTrader, Cargurus etc.). Farhad's response was "They only marked it up $15,000"? as he laughed. Farhad's next comment was, "I guess you didn't like my joke".

I found it in terrible form to advertise, confirm and bait people into the dealership only to find out the price is not as advertised. Then to have the manager Farhad make a joke at our expense. He told us that Audi controls the price of the vehicle on the websites and they cannot advertise them with the additional 20% premium.

We took time out of our day only to be met with a smart mouthed, dismissive manager who shockingly tried to make us feel ignorant.

You would think with the longevity in the marketplace Fletcher Jones would have the courtesy and experience not to treat a ready, willing and able buyer with such disregard.

Audi Beverly Hills /Fletcher Jones Company Response

    07/22/2021

Respectfully the customer either misunderstood or has failed to acknowledge in his complaint that the web site that the customer referred to was a web site from Audi America that list available vehicles at various dealerships. Audi Beverly Hills does not control the content on that web site as it is controlled by the manufacturer which was explained to the customer that day. Audi America lists vehicle prices based on MSRP. As a result of the COVID pandemic there is a nationwide shortage of vehicles and in varying parts of the country vehicles are being sold for more than MSRP based on simple supply and demand principles. The customer has also failed to include in his complaint that he spoke with the general manager and the vehicle he described was in fact offered to him at the MSRP and at no markup price. However, there was no agreement reached regarding the lease of the vehicle as the customer wanted a monthly lease payment that could not be arranged.

    Customer Response

    07/22/2021

I did not mention the offer from the general manager *** because the review was written prior to him contacting me.

The responders reply is simply not true. I was offered a lease on the vehicle in question at a price over the MSRP. The lease rate was also inflated to add additional cost to the MSRP increasing the price again. The general manager quoted $1,444.00 plus tax for the vehicle on a 36 month lease 12k a year with 4k down. I was able to order at 2022 Audi Etron Prestige ($89k) model with the same terms and the payment will be $1,218.00 plus tax when delivered. You tell me who is misrepresenting the facts.

I also see that they feel to mention the flippant attitude Farhad the manager on duty had when he was dismissive and disrespectful after wasting my time on a Sunday afternoon.

I was treated with respect and felt like my business was appreciated as I negotiated with the dealership that I ultimately ordered the vehicle.

Bottom line, stay away! The attitude, gouging and misrepresentation of the truth is appalling.
