I went online to look for providers of vehicle reports to help a church friend who is looking to purchase an used car. I used my car as a test to see what type of report is generated by Vinclarity. When I got to the place right before the report can be generated, I saw that the price is $1 and I provided the credit card and received the report. I was charged $1 on 8/10/2025.After that, $24.99 was also charged by Vinclarity without my authorization on 8/11/25. I have nothing to prove that I didn't I concent to this charge and unsure how to dispute it, so I left it *********** (9/11/2025), I got a fraud alert from **** saying that they charged my card again with aother $24.99 and asked if I authorized it. During my phone call with the **** agent, I was told that I am not the only one that has fallen victim for this company's scams. This had happened many times with their other memebers. They use $1 to lure customers to provide credit card info and will continue to charge it till you either cancel your card or try to dispute it. The **** agent said that they'll try to dispute it on my behalf but cannot guarantee if it'll be successful. After reading about all of the people who got scammed, I am not sure of my chance of getting my money back. It's disappointing that businesses like this are out there.Customer Answer

Vinclarity sent 2 emails to me today reading the "cancellation" of a subscription that I never signed up for and issued a refund - it's currently pending on my credit card account.
Same as other people I read online, I never subscribed to their membership. They use $1 as a bait to get your credit card number and charge you $25 every month till you dispute it.

On 8/20/2025 I was searching for a VIN report for a car I was interested in. VINClarity made me put in all my info and after that was done they asked for a dollar to show me the report. I said okay because their services aren't free and paid the dollar. 24 hours later on 8/21/2025, with no prompting and without my consent, I was charged 24.99 by VINClarity and Chase's fraud center immediately caught it and blocked it. I have had to get a new credit card because of the fraudulent charge and am writing up this complaint to make others aware. On the off chance VINclarity has a legitimate reason to want to charge 24.99 they need to be honest and upfront and have the cardholder agree to $24.99, not $1. The fact they're doing this and the fact that multiple people have called their customer service center over the past few months about it tells me it's not a system glitch or an accident and that VINClarity is fully aware this is happening and is intentionally perpetrating fraud against the cardholders they interact with. I will not be negotiating with VINClarity or accepting any kind of resolution to take this report down as they are very clearly well beyond that point in time given the history of these fraud reports.Business Response

I went to this website to check the vin on a car I was looking to buy. The website said they would charge $1.00 for that one vin check. After that they started charging me a monthly charge of $24.99 a "membership" that I never agreed to.Customer Answer

I have been charged a fee twice now and this is not something I have ever signed up for. My bank has cancelled my card and sent me a new one just a week ago. I was sent another fraud alert just this morning that my new card was used by them again. I have called the customer service number and was told my account was refunded and closed but would love to know how they keep getting my card number. Even if I had used them after getting a new card and number how could they get the new info.I have had two attempted charges of ***** use.Business Response

So this is one of those companies that you enter your vin of a vehicle to check the service history and title status of a vehicle and initially it said it was a free but after filling all the required fields it wanted 1$ to get your report which is is fine I understand they need to charge for their services to which I agreed and after paying the 1$ I got my report which was exactly as advertised. But the following day I got charged with a 25$ fee. This fee was not as shown in anything I agreed to and even when I logged into my account(that I had no idea I had) to see if I accidentally signed up for a subscription the website said I had not signed up for one to even be Charged for when I tried to cancel it. I tried to write a review to warn others of the potential scam and theres not even a way to leave a review and the only information I found about this company being a scam was through Reddit that they were charging after the fact a ridiculous fee. At the end of the day I would love a refund but more importantly than that I would like their customers be aware of this fee before agreeing to terms . I have emailed them with no luck and calling them has gotten me no where and hopefully something can be done to prevent this.Business Response

I was looking to see if there was a recall on my Chrysler van and I went through all the prompts on this site to get my report. It said to wait 45 seconds up to 90 seconds to get my report, but after a few minutes, I didn't receive anything. I entered all my debit card information and my address.I am worried that it was a scam. I only paid $1 for the report, but they never charged it yet as of 10:43 EST on August 10, 2024.
