On July 15, 2024, my husband and I hired ******* ***** “Mike the Mover Co.” aka “Mike the Mover LLC” to move our household belongings from ******* WV to *****, WV.

His written estimate was $6,000–$6,800; we understood $6,800 to be the maximum. We provided detailed video walkthroughs and, on moving day, walked him through the house, giving clear instructions for what was going.

    Problems:
    • Overcharge: Final bill was $10,420.52 without prior notice. Later, he billed $4,300 for storage; we disputed and settled at $1,000. Total paid was $11,420.52 — $4,620.52 over the high end of the quote.
    • Damaged Items: Multiple pieces of furniture arrived with deep scratches, broken parts, or structural damage; some items show signs of moisture exposure and warped wood. Several items that had been in perfect condition before the move are now unusable.
    • No Receipts: Charged for packing materials but refused to provide receipts despite repeated requests.
    • Unauthorized Storage Form: Never signed the storage agreement he later produced; first saw it via text after the fact.
    • Improper Handling: Items placed in storage were not wrapped or covered properly, contributing to damage.

We are still unpacking and continue to discover additional broken or compromised property. This has caused significant financial loss, stress, and inconvenience. The poor communication, refusal to provide documentation, and surprise billing created unnecessary conflict and delayed our ability to settle into our new home. We believe this reflects misrepresentation of costs, negligent handling of goods, and unethical business practices. We seek BBB assistance for reimbursement and to help prevent others from experiencing similar harm.

I spoke with the owner about moving from one apartment to another less than 10 miles apart. He quoted me prices over the phone. Two workers would be $125. Per hour and four-man would be $175 per hour. I told him there were stairs involved and he said that didn’t make a difference. The man showed up an hour and a half light. The men themselves were courteous and respectful of my belongings. However it took them seven hours to move a two bedroom apartment, The contents were already packed. When I receive the invoice I was charged $190 an hour. I tried to contact Mike about the difference, but got no reply. I even mention that I thought only three men should be $150. per hour. I feel good I have been overcharged and taken advantage of. Friends there at the time noticed when they quoted me the price that I turned pale and couldn’t speak for about a minute.
I literally went to move my dining room table, and the lead fell off. It had been broken completely and then put back on with a screw.
