  American Military University markets itself as a leader in academia when it comes to helping military service members achieve their education goals. As an active duty service member with over 17 years of service that includes combat experience, I have had mixed and substandard support from professors, the advising team, and financial services at this institution. In some cases, these people didn't know their own processes or honor their own standards of quality and timeliness. Although I was able to use 100% of military tuition assistance, I used 100% of military tuition assistance and feel like I am walking away without a network and without a sense that I earned something valuable. Instead, I am just walking away with the knowledge, knowing that I wasted so much time being away from my family and friends for both work and school. On some occasions, I have been browbeaten academically and completely disrespected by the faculty and this institution. If you are an active-duty service member, I would exercise caution in spending your extremely hard-earned education benefits at this institution, as there appears to be an element of a "bait-and-switch" in the marketing. What you pay (monetarily) is accurate as advertised, but what you receive is not what is advertised. Standards and accreditation matter; I don't know why I let myself get sucked into thinking I could earn a valuable degree through a university that is all online. If I could get my money and time back, I would. I am giving this two stars, one because I spent very little out of pocket, and the other because I already paid for the degree, so I might as well keep the thing. Hopefully, the genuinely good staff and faculty at *** keep its name as honorable and respectable as it can; there is a lot of potential there, and so many military members rely on it. Nevertheless, your experiences WILL vary at this institution. Financially and academically, it looks great, but when you are in it, the view changes.

  APUS is a wonderful university with easy to understand material and passionate instructors. I am glad I attended. I reccomend that new students be prepared to study hard and really apply themselves graduating today I can say, it will pay off.

  I have been the Chair of the **** here for a few years and I recommend anyone going to this school getting involved with the schools organizations and clubs. There are over 70 and there are plenty of opportunities for leadership positions that are not available at traditional schools.

  At *** I had the flexibility to earn my degree while working full time managing a business and raising a family. The course structure was accommodating, the professors were knowledgeable and helpful. 5/5 I would recommend.

  My experience at *** has been incredible! The professors were knowledgeable and supportive, and the curriculum challenged me to grow both academically and personally. I am grateful for the flexibility and resources provided, especially during tough personal times. Im proud to be graduate and highly recommend this school to others pursuing their education.
