I filed a claim on 2/29/24 for a hotel reservation on 3/15/24. I got a denial for not submitting my claim within 15 days of the reservation. I am sure this requirement was stated somewhere in the paperwork I signed, but where I could not point out. If this had been clearly stated, I would have waited the 6 or so hours so I would be inside that 15-day window. I would avoid this company at all costs.Review from Jordan S

If you want to book a trip with confidence, don't use them. I feel their at a glance promotion and advertisement was deceptive and misleading. I wish I could post a photo of how they are advertised stating "trip cancellation and interruption up to 100% of trip costs". You would have to click into their hyperlink "view benefit details" to discover there are a lot of restrictions as to what they deem coverable for cancellation. I booked the flight solely because I thought if I had to cancel, I'd be reimbursed. It is my fault for not clicking the link and reading thoroughly, however, maybe they should clearly state that restrictions apply on the advertisement that everyone sees when they purchase the flight and insurance instead of advertising "trip cancellation and interruption up to 100% of trip costs". I will never use them again and recommend not using them to anyone who asks.Review from Ana M

My son was playing baseball this spring and because of a family emergency I had to cancel. I purchased insurance to get my money back in case of anything. Well I filed a claim and they denied it so I lost 175 dollars. I tried filing a dispute by calling costumer service and they could not help me. They also promised a call back in 3 to 5 days its been 2 weeks and I have not gotten a call from them.Review from Cindy W

Takes two weeks to get response from claims. Then they ask for additional information even though you already sent. Dont get to talk to claims adjusters only email I had to resubmit information again with letter of explanation. Another way to prolong payments. Very flustered with not being able to talk to adjuster. You only talk to a real person when you call in to ask for adjuster. They cant trans the call. I made the mistake of purchasing their travel insurance for a 12 day vacation to ****************** once and we were ********* by immigration there because my friend is from ***** and they refused to pay out even though we were deported and had zero vacation. NEVER BUY THISReview from Peter T

ONE STAR is too much for this company- BUYER BEWARE! Do not buy travel insurance from this company. I lost my premium of $4200. My cruise was cancelled by the cruise line, not me, because of the conflict in ***************. Deemed too dangerous to go. Therefore, TravelGuard was never exposed to any losses during the cruise. ( By the way normal property and casualty companies offer at a minimum pro rata refunds). On February 10 I filed a with the claims department, a full two weeks before the cruise. On March 4 the claims department informed me that I should have filed a premium refund request and not a claim for loss. I filed the same day. My request was denied because when I asked for the premium refund it was after the cruise date! Apparently the claims department and premium refund department do not communicate with each other. Therefore, because of a technically, TravelGuard chose not to refund my premium. They decided not to recognize my initial contact with the company. I can't imagine all the TRICKS they would try to deny YOUR claim or if, heaven forbid you needed medical evacuation. Do yourself a favor, look to another company to purchase travel insurance!Review from sherri c

AIG/Travel Guard is unethical! After filing a claim that was denied even though the upcoming trip was cancelled due to War/Act of Terror, they also refused to issue a travel voucher for a future trip with ******* *****. This company is unethical and should not be able to sell travel insurance since they do not stand behind what they are selling. I will tell others to avoid buying travel insurance from Travel Guard/AIG and I would never use them for any other travel plans!!Review from Dikesh P

AIG travel insurance I fill cheated because my trips cencels by airline & I have to transfer other airlines with $ 300 more I have to pay when I come back instead of ********* they send me ******* & they lost my 1 luggage & I have to take private taxi it’s cost me $279 I got my luggage after 3 days with broken bags & 3 items missing after submitting all proof which I have they only give me 150 $ out of 5000$ what a joke so save your money and use **** cards they give you free travel insurance & solve your problem with in 7 daysReview from sue r

These guys a crooks, I never purchased their insurance. The first I heard of them was when I saw a $483 bill on my credit card. I contacted them and they said because I was past the 15 day mark, I cannot cancel. Well, by the time my credit card bill arrived, the 15 day mark had past. But I never purchased from them, if it comes to it, I will take the thieves to court.Review from Will E

Travel Guard has been unresponsive and deliberately difficult to work with. I booked a trip and purchased trip insurance through Travel Guard. I had to cancel the trip because of terrorist attacks in the city I was visiting and updated travel restrictions. I filed a claim on January 12, 2024. The information they requested was uploaded on the Travel Guard Portal on January 12, 2024. They told me it would take 10 to 15 business days to review the claim and the insurance adjuster would contact me. I checked the online portal and on February 16th it said my status was closed. There was no communication about it. Just closed. I called and was told an email was sent to a random string of gibberish letters. They then emailed me saying my policy was denied, but the reason they gave didn't make any sense quoting a portion of the Trip Cancellation Benefit (which I have never seen or received a copy of) that specifically highlights their responsibility to pay for the trip cancellation. I responded immediately via email on 2/16 and still have not received a response on 2/22. I've called and have been told it's another 10-15 business days just to get a response to my email. I called again today and after 20 minutes, I was told I could be connected to a manager. The "manager" was a voicemail box. In reading the other comments it sounds like this is consistent with how this company operates and that it is actually a scam.Travel Guard Group, Inc. Response
