I don't see how Wausau Homes can have an A+ rating with so many bad reviews and the fact that they take no responsibility with their canned response is horrendous. In their own marketing, they call them "Their builders" and how can they take no responsibility when you have to work with "their builders" in order to have a Wausau home. That gives you pretty much no choice since it also depends on which county you live in. Firm Price, Firm date my ****! My builder didn't even tell me the price changed after I signed and left things off after I signed. Then come to find out they forgot that the basement was even in my plans, I had to spend over $60,000 more than the contract and they still haven't finished 22 months after breaking ground! So so very sad!

***, Wausau Homes **** is a panelized custom home manufacturer that provides materials to independently owned and operated custom home builders (builder). Some of the Wausau Homes authorized builders do business under the Wausau Home brand name, but no builder is employed by or directed by Wausau Homes **** The builder simply secures panelized materials from Wausau Homes **** and then builds out the home per the customers specifications based on the signed contract between them and their builder. The builders have no access or connection to this BBB account.

This was the second Wausau Home we built. We built our first Wausau Home in Northern ********* about 6 years ag with Northern Advantage Builders, LLC, the Wausau Home builder in ********, **. IT had its bumps, but overall, it was a smooth process and we were very pleased with the quality of the finished product. The builder for our current build was Stone Ridge Homes ********. from ********, **. Our satisfaction with Stone Ridge Homes process and the quality of the finished product is nowhere near our experience with Northern Advantage Builders, LLC. We would be hard pressed to find one thing that did not have an issue when it was completed. In fact, we have spent over $18,000 to fix or modify an improper installation by one of Stone Ridge Homes sub-contractors; we still have a couple of issues to address, so that amount will increase. There is not one of the sub-contractors that we would ever use again. In more than one instance, we had to settle for what was done. An example is that the interior trim does not match the doors because they came from different manufacturers. Our GCs comment was that they do not need to match, they just need to coordinate. This was not a satisfactory response to our concern. In our opinion, this is an example of a lack of customer satisfaction and caring about the quality of the end result. We will never build another Wausau Home. In our opinion, their concern about a quality-built home and customer satisfaction has declined since our first build 6 years ago. We sent the **************** of Wausau Homes a letter addressing our concerns. Based on the **** Tracking they received our letter and documentation almost 2 months ago, but we have not heard anything from the ****************s. They did not even have the courtesy to acknowledge the receipt of our letter. We still have not received the survey from Wausau Homes **************** to rate our experience.

I would not recommend using Wausau Homes – New Richmond. As a general contractor, Skylar rarely found time to come through behind his sub-contractors to inspect their work. There were times where weeks went by without him showing up on site. Most of the time I had to point things out to Skylar that were not done as planned or left incomplete. Be prepared to protect your building materials. When the cabinets, doors, and trim were delivered, they were all left in our garage. Now that wouldn’t be a problem if the garage floor was poured and garage door was installed, but they weren’t. When the snow melted in the spring and we received rain, the garage started to flood. Instead of Skylar moving or protecting the materials, my dad and myself built a dam to prevent further flooding and carried most of the cabinets and trim inside to our basement. Had we not done so, most certainly probably half of the materials in the garage would have been ruined. Honesty is another issue. Skyler lied to me about the stairs delivered being wrong and said he had to take it up with Wausau corporate. He said he contacted Wausau corporate to let them know the stairs had an issue. After a long delay in getting an answer about what was wrong with the stairs, I called Wausau corporate directly and they didn’t show any record of Skylar contacting them to report an issue with the manufacturing of the stairs. Turns out the stairs were just fine, and Skylar just didn’t know how to install them. To give you a little timeline. Building Agreement was signed 6/1/21. Ground was broken 9/3/21. Building Agreement indicates builder will complete within 150 working days of commencement (ground breaking). 150 working days is about 7 months if you figure 20 working days a month. That equates to an agreed upon completion date in March 2022. We moved into an unfinished home 6/4/22. After waiting 3 more months for punch list items still not be completed, we decided to cut our ties and finish items ourselves.
