I took my daughter's car here after it was at another shop where it was for an overheating engine. They believed the heater core needed to be replaced but they could not complete this job. Silver Lake indicated that they had the capabilities to perform this job should it be required. The service manager was aware the car had gone through several tests prior to this by the other shop and said he could contact them as well should he want more details, but it was made known to Silver Lake that the other shop went as far as they could, noticed a coolant leak, were quite sure the heater core needed replacement and could not do this so regardless of what else may be/could be wrong they could not replace the heater core so it was obvious the car should be brought elsewhere. The Silver Lake service manager indicated that they can do any work the car may need. Of note, my mom, who is not the customer or owner of the car, had called prior to me talking with them, to inquire about their capabilities. The service mgr quoted me for the heatercore after having the car for at least a full day and apparently performing their own diagnostics. I picked up the car a few days later, pleased that they were able to salvage some old parts to save some money for me. I was not shown the old heater core. I was just told it was fixed and good to go. When my daughter drove the car to work, within 5-7 min the car overheated. The coolant gauge: empty, the passenger floor was damp & the car was disabled. It was not smoking. It was returned to Silver Lake who told me that there were blown head gaskets and indicated at least another $4500 in repairs would be required of this 2006 vehicle. They claim that they "never knew" there was an engine overheating issue, that I only asked for a heatercore (as if I know), that w/o the heater core replaced (ie: what I paid for) they would not have been able to test for blown head gaskets (not true) which they claim is the real issue.

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns and give us insight into your experience. We understand your frustration, and we know that any issue involving an overheating vehicle can be extremely stressful. Based on the initial heater core concern shared with our team, there was no clear indication at the time that the head gaskets needed to be inspected. Our Location Manager had been trying to reach you prior to this review and was finally able to connect with you afterward. Our Chief Operations Officer also left you a message this afternoon. Wed like to continue the conversation please call him back directly so we can provide clarity and work toward resolving the situation.

Tyler ******** was very helpful when I thought my key fob wasn't working but it turned out that the hybrid car, in the garage for over a month, needed the battery to be charged.

Part 1 - I would like to express my concerns regarding the service provided by Silver Lake Automotive. As the owner of the vehicle in question, I was initially hesitant to proceed with their service when my father received the initial quote. In October 2024, my father contacted me during a phone call with Silver Lake Automotive, where they quoted $6,000 for engine repairs. I did not agree with the cost and was considering cutting my losses and parting with the vehicle. However, one of Silver Lake's employees assured me over the phone that the proposed repairs would essentially result in a new engine, a statement that was echoed by the staff, despite the fact that we had previously received a similar quote from Tires Plus, which had been communicated to Silver Lake at the time. The employee insisted that this repair would address all issues, and the vehicle would run like new, thus negating the need for a new engine, which would have cost the same amount. Reluctantly, I agreed, deciding it might be more prudent than searching for another used vehicle that could potentially have its own set of issues.
However, just two days after I received the vehicle back, the check engine light illuminated. Additionally, the fuel pump needed to be replaced, even though it had been replaced by ***** **** in July 2024. Silver Lake Automotive collected the vehicle and replaced the pump. For about a month and a half, the vehicle ran without major issues.
In December 2024, exactly a month and a half after the work was completed, the vehicle began to experience significant issues, including severe rocking and low oil levels. Silver Lake conducted an oil change and charged us $50, explaining that the engine was burning oil quickly and recommending oil checks every 500 miles.

Part 2 - If the repairs had indeed resulted in a "new engine" as claimed, this should not have been necessary. I continued to drive the vehicle for two more months, until my father posted the review mentioned below. Subsequently, Silver Lake requested that we bring the vehicle back for them to investigate further. After a day, we were informed that the vehicle now required a completely new engine, as multiple components needed replacement a scenario that had been mentioned at the outset when we initially brought the vehicle in. This contradicts their earlier statement that the $6,000 in repairs would essentially restore the engine to like-new condition. In summary, not only has Silver Lake Automotive charged an excessive amount for their work, but they have also overlooked several underlying issues with the vehicle, which were clearly identified by the other shop. Furthermore, they claim to specialize in engine repairs, yet failed to resolve the core issues effectively. Based on my experience, I would strongly advise against using this shop. For the same amount of money, I could have replaced the engine entirely. Now, Silver Lake is requesting additional funds to address the issues that should have been fixed in the first place.

We had work done to my sons car last fall I believe October but not certain, my son has all the receipts paying over $6,000 for repairs and since then we took it back in December of 2024 because was running the way it was before they worked on it they said it needed oil and he should check it about every 500 miles, they took the motor out and we could of gotten a new motor put in for less I believe stuff should of been done so the problem went away, I am writing this because I am the one that had to pay the bill, they had us bring it back in after the first time the repairs we thought were fixed but now here it is February and he is having to keep oil in back seat floor, it does not smoke but where is oil going? For over $6000 this should of been fixed, took car there because close to my home Would not recommend this company to anyone for repairs $6000 for same problem we reported when taken in

Hello ******! Thank you for sharing your concerns. In September 2024, we addressed an oil leak and restored your sons vehicle engine to running normally. Since then, weve performed additional diagnostics and replaced the high-pressure fuel pump at no charge, even though it was unrelated to the original repairs. Unfortunately, this 12-year-old engine is known for oil consumption, and our records show it has repeatedly run low on oil, which can cause further damage. One of our team members will reach out to help address your concerns.Thank you,Silver Lake Auto & Tire Centers
