On or around 09/04/2024 I attempted to deposit a check for $50 that received from a state agency using the mobile app. The mobile app didn't work. I then entered the Heartland Credit Union branch located on *************************** in *******, **. I was informed that there would be a ten day hold placed on the $50 check, which I reluctantly agreed to. I was advised today that the check has cleared, but no funds have been added to my account, pending the full ten days. I am irate because I have been a member of the Credit Union for 20 years, and yet I am being discriminated against by my credit union. About a year ago I was the victim of identity theft and my credit and credibility have been destroyed. The entity that I expect to support and assist me most is now offering to release my funds if I cancel my membership. This action is hurtful and humiliating, to say the least. I will leave the credit union, but I want an apology, compensation, and punitive damages.Initial Complaint

I am writing to express my serious concern regarding the disclosure of my personal information to credit bureaus, resulting in inaccuracies on my credit report. This issue has caused significant financial and emotional distress. As outlined in 15 USC 1681 Section 602, I affirm my entitlement to financial privacy and expect my information to be handled confidentially.Furthermore, 15 USC 1681 Section 604(a)(2) emphasizes that a consumer reporting agency cannot share account information without my explicit consent, which I have not provided.I have identified discrepancies on my credit report associated with HEARTLNDCU, negatively affecting my financial situation. I urgently request the correction of these errors.Additionally, I want to highlight 15 USC 1666(b), which prohibits creditors from treating credit card payments as late under specific circumstances. For your reference, my account information is as follows:Account Number: ************I request a thorough review of my account, immediate rectification of credit report inaccuracies, and strict adherence to federal regulations governing my information.Failure to address these issues promptly may result in legal action. I had a dormant checking account in which someone deposited a small check a year after I had moved to a different state. No one from heartland called me and i had no idea there as a check processed with insufficient funds. After I noticed a personal loan write off from Heartland on my credit card, I paid immediately the $87 fees and requested they remove the erroneous record from the credit bureaus. They did not. I called and emailed several times and Heartland has illegally updated my credit profile since I never had a personal loan with Heartland. What gives them the right to file false information.I opened disputes on all three credit bureaus to no avail. They are damaging my ability to secure auto financing, credit cards and personal loans by leaving a fraudulent and erroneous record on my credit profile.Initial Complaint

I made two separate car payments in March. One for the month of March, one for the month of April. I then did not make a payment in April (I had already made the separate one March 12th), and then made my payment for *** on June 2, 2023. The next day I received a notice on my credit report that my account was 30 or more days past due. I called Heartland and explained the situation, and that my account was NOT past due. If it was past due, they ALWAYS call or send a letter or email. I received NOTHING. No email, no phone call, no letter. They couldn't answer me WHY that was the case, but told me I could pay another $285 to get my account current. They refused to take my second payment and apply it to get me current and instead just reported it to the Credit Bureau. My credit score dropped almost 30 points because they didn't apply the payment correctly. There is NO option on their website to choose how my payment is applied and I was told I should have called to make sure it was applied correctly, but I wasn't even aware it was misapplied until my credit monitoring app notified me of my score change. I have been working hard to get my credit on track, but it's impossible with them not even being willing to help! I have had this account for almost six years and never had an extra payment not be applied to my next month, the problems only started when Heartland took over!Initial Complaint

I had an account with the ********************** that had at least $100 in it. I did not use it all that often so it met the requirements for an inactive account according to them and they started charging a fee for the account until the closed it. The last fee was in February of 2023. The first fee would have been january of 2022. Due to a move I did not receive any documentation from them regarding this and did not realize it was even happening as they only sent physical communication which went to the wrong address and I did not even realize they had the wrong address. I had an email with them with which I had received other communication but I did not receive an email communication that my account was being closed down. I would like my money back due to lack of communication from the back regarding this.Initial Complaint

I used to have a secured credit card with them starting in 2020 I believe, I went to the ******** location in person to close it one day and they never did, they ended up using the deposit to pay it off after I stopped using it and then proceeded to charge me a late fee for it that has been sitting in my collections for probably a year and a half now. I have disputed multiple times with bureaus with no help at all. Early Sep this year I went, again, in person to their main branch on high crossing. I paid it myself for 60 some dollars using their atm cash as well. I never got a receipt or a confirmation or anything for it. I was told it would be reported at the end of Sep. It clearly never was because it still shows a balance on my account and I still have the account with a balance sitting in my collections two months later. I emailed ***** on Nov 1st asking for a receipt or some kind of confirmation, no response from him. I emailed again today saying I got no response, no receipt, and the account is still in my collections. I also informed him I'd be filing with BBB today for the terrible service. This whole issue over 13$ collection would have been avoided if they just had closed my account in the first place when I asked two years ago. I want the account removed entirely from all my reports due to inaccurate reporting. I've attached the recent attempts I've made to settle this account, most of them with no response from the business.
