    We had left our dog Tico in the care of Central Bark of Kenosha doggie daycare. We were verbally reassured staff could care for him and his special needs. The owner also assured us they had staff trained and equipped to deal with dogs that suffered from seizures. This was very important to us because our beloved dog Tico would suffer from seizures almost monthly. Unfortunately, we were going away for a weekend in August of 2021 and knew there was a possibility he may have one. The owner assured us Tico would be well taken care of, and I left typed instructions on what to do if he should have one. On Monday, August 23rd, 2021, he had a seizure before staff arrived in the morning. They did not recognize the signs that he had one and that he was suffering from heatstroke. They also failed to communicate accurately his symptoms to us in a timely manner that matched the urgency of his situation. Instead of focusing on him, the staff placed him in a kennel for "his safety" so they could tend to the other dogs arriving for the day. Tico needed to be allowed to cool himself off and placing him in a kennel did not allow him to do so. Tico’s body temperature rose so high, it could not be detected by a thermometer, he went into a status epilepticus seizure. He would never recover from this last seizure. On Tuesday, August 24th, 2021, there was nothing more we could do for him. Tico suffered irreparable damage to his body that could have been avoided if the staff provided proper care for Tico. It was then we said goodbye. Our family was devastated. The owner of this business did not contact us after what happened to Tico. WE had to reach out to him. After asking several times for an incident report we were told there was not one written on the day of the event and had not received one to this day.

    I remember **** very fondly and again want to take this moment and express my deepest condolences to you and your family about the loss of your family pet Tico. At Central Bark we LOVE Dogs. Our Brand Purpose is to nurture, enrich and inspire lives by bringing whole health, happiness, and unconditional love to each dog, family, and community we serve. That is why most of us get into the business. I named my business after the untimely passing of my best friend, our family pup. His favorite interest in life was to wait by the front door for me when I came home from work so we could go on a neighborhood walk. So, I understand the grief you are going through. I have a Passion and a belief for the services we provide.I have Compassion for all of the pups' lives and families that we provide services for throughout Southeast *********, and I have deep compassion for your loss.I have Respect for you taking the time and effort to state your opinion on the entire situation. But most importantly, I have Respect for my staff that did everything in their power in trying to save ****'s life and the decision by the Court that stated we were NOT Negligent. Again, My Deepest Sympathies to you and your family.

    The loss of Tico was felt by us and Im sure by your staff that was there that day. Our review is for the dog owner that needs a facility that will go above and beyond what the signed agreement states your staff will do. THAT is what he needed that day. The judge did rule your staff held up your end of the contract we signed. Unfortunately, Tico needed your staff to go above and beyond this.
