In August 2022, I chose CJE services (owned by ***************************) to complete a somewhat complex driveway that was already half removed from a prior contractor who did lousy work and left the job.Once it dried, I noticed the following issues:-There are bug holes in the cement. ******* admitted that he didn't work the concrete, a critical step called consolidation, which removes the excess air in the concrete mix. -The edge where the frame was had deep voids (due to lack of consolidation) and areas where the concrete is only 2 inches thick.-The sealer yellowed the concrete and is applied inconsistently and quite heavy in some areas. -The edges of the surface aren't sealed and this is obvious when you see where the sealer is applied when the concrete is wet and yellowed when it's dry.--There is an area along an edge that isn't properly finished.-There are numerous very rough areas in the concrete finish.-His saw cuts were not well planned and resulted in a smaller area of the cement breaking out as it shrunk during curing. When I showed the saw cuts to two concrete professionals, one being with a major contracting firm in the area, they both said that area would break out soon. It did the next day.Other issues:-He refuses to show me the tickets or authorize the redi-mix company to release them to me. I have still not seen it despite multiple requests.-Stones, left in my yard, on the sidewalk, in the street. I had to clean them up and I'm still finding more a month later.-He didn't repair the grass around the cement despite it being in the contract and him knowing the condition of those areas when he took the job. This cost me about $100 additional dollars as well as quite a bit of time to repair as I had to buy 20 bags of top soil, sod, and seed.-He got cement on my landscape bricks (which I had to replace and spend time resealing and placing) and on the driveway apron and street curb in front of my house. He refused to address any of the issues.

Hi ****, thanks for your feedback. This is very ironic, seeing as your initial review (which you have since deleted) was five stars ??. I'm disappointed that multiple conversations and visits, spanning over several weeks in attempt to resolve your concerns landed us here. It's fair to note, I took your job after two contractors walked off or were ran off because of the unmanageable nature of your own personal demands. In addition, multiple other complaints from you were left for the concrete supplier, both other contractors, as well as the sealant company (which I completed on your job for free). I take pride in my business, workmanship and care for my clients like family. I more than happy to share your address for any prospective clients to view our finished product. No design flaws to note, elevations are per code and nothing was damaged, or unfinished. I also checked with the neighbor, who paid the second portion of the contract for the shared driveway work and they are happy with their driveway. As always, we thank you for the feedback. CJE wishes you the best.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

There was no resolution offered by CJE to address the numerous issues with the project, even though I offered ideas for fixing the issues. He overcharged for materials, refused to confirm the concrete mix was what I purchased (which I doubt because of his refusal to show me and issues present with the cement). I plan to get a sample examined to determine the mix. I also incurred other costs that should be refunded, including overcharging for drain materials, backfill material and labor, replacing damaged landscape blocks, and cleaning up hundreds of stones he left in my grass.

    Regards,
