We suffered a garage loss during the winter and contacted Northland Builders to replace it as weve had a longstanding prior business relationship with no issues. We paid the money down and signed a contract on April 18, 2023, for a 26 x 27 x **************************************************** the early summer and the building materials were delivered the beginning of July along with the placement of advertising signs marking the route to our house. As of September 20, 2023, the materials are still sitting in the driveway in the elements and all of our attempts to get Northland to actually show up and begin construction on this building have failed. They have made repeated promises to show up and never do, providing flimsy excuses about why they are so delayed. We have contacted the owner and he frankly didnt care about our prior business relationship (which was hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of business), nor did he care we have a boat and other materials that will need immediate storage soon. We need this garage built immediately and our pleas to get this done have fallen on deaf ears. Its very frustrating as we expedited the removal of our old garage and prep work for the site since they indicated it would be completed during the summer. The materials are sitting in the driveway obstructing complete use of such and exposed to wind, rain and other outdoor factors. We ask the BBB step in to get this company to comply with our signed contract immediately.

      Northland Buildings, Inc. Response

      04/09/2024

First of all, let me introduce myself as the Owner/CEO of Northland Buildings. After reading this complaint about the customer’s experience with Northland Buildings, I did some digging on my own. A wise man once told me there are usually two versions to the same event. Here is ours: After pulling the file on this project, I discovered a signed contract with a desired delivery and build date of “Fall 2023”. We completed this project during the last week of November, 2023. We had hoped to start this project sooner, but there were two things that were beyond our control. 1) The weather in the Upper Midwest, 2) Back-ordered material that was necessary to complete this project from our vendors, which inhibited us from doing so. In ending my response, the customer got their building within the time frame of the contract. I might point out as well, we build for 600-700 customers every year with very few complaints like yours. But, on behalf of Northland Buildings, I apologize for the building experience you had.
