  I SURRENDERED A LIFE INSURANCE POLICY THAT I HAVE BEEN PAYING INTO SINCE 1978. THE AMOUNT I PAID IN PREMIUMS FAR EXCEEDED THE CASH VALUE AND THE AMOUNT I WAS GIVEN BY THRIVENT. THEY FILLED OUT A 1099 R SAYING I HAD TO PAY TAXES ON $16,907.00. IF YOUR PREMIUM PAYMENT EXCEEDS THE AMOUNT YOU ARE PAID WHEN YOU SURRENDER A POLICY , THE AMOUNT YOU RECEIVE WHEN YOU SURRENDER YOUR POLICY IS NOT TAXABLE. I DID THIS DURING THE YEAR 2024 AND WHEN I CALLED TO QUESTION IT THEY SAID THEY DO NOT KEEP THOSE RECORDS. I AM VERY UPSET AS MY FATHER WAS AN *** INSURANCE SALESMAN.

  Thrivent LTC has been paying out monthly coverage for my parents aged 90 for my mother and 95 for my father. Both in various states of decline physically, mentally, etc. Thrivent has now withheld monthly payment for my mother a second time. No warning, no communication what so ever. Just an abrupt halt in payment. When calling their Appleton Wisconson headquarters, the person taking calls is kind, looks up our contract number, asks various questions regarding my qualifications to communicate on behalf of parents, puts me on hold for an extended time and finally get an answer. The monthly claim has been sent to Thrivent Examiners for evaluation do to phone calls appearing on the *** care provider invoice. Phone calls are listed separately and always has been. Thrivent is still withholding payment. Monthly care cost approaching $11k/month of which Thrivent pays on average $6700/month. So, at the mercy of Thrivent once again for contractual payment. Affiliated I believe with ******** ***********.... don't be fooled, nothing humanitarian at all regarding this organization. Lack of response, pull payment without notice, no forewarning, just in limbo with "Examiners." 1 Star rating is too generous for these unscrupulous dip ********...

  My parents paid into long term care insurance with Thrivent for 25 years. What a waste. Their money would have gone farther in a simple investment. My dad died before seeing any of it. The last year of my mom’s life with caregivers at home followed by caregiving in a facility was a NIGHTMARE dealing with Thrivent. Terrible customer service, no communication- not by phone, email or mail. I had to call repeatedly, put on hold, waiting for someone who knew the status of her claim. Thrivent always blamed the agency for delay but never contacted me to explain or expedite the process. She would only receive a payment, months later, because I pitched a fit at them. And the daily benefit isnt even half of actual care costs. Would NEVER recommend Thrivent for any reason. In the end, Im sure Thrivent is happy to have made a nice profit off my parents.

  I have had them as a secondary medical insurance ( ******** primary) for 6 years.. & I’m lucky if they pay for anything. Compared to the premium I pay for them, I get less than .05 % back in coverage payments in return. Sad. You think a church affiliated organization would look out more for their clients!!! Buyer beware!!

  I would give this so called company a 0 if it was on the ratings. 0 communications, don't return calls and are 0 help also. They have been delaying my mother's beneficiary payment for over 6 months with excuses that had left our family frustrated since my mother's passing. I would not recommend this company and I am going to file a complaint with the Attorney General of MN and maybe that will get some results from this so called *****************

  Since November I have been unable to log into their online portal. This is unacceptable, do not hold your funds with this company.

  Thrivent has been extremely difficult to work with!! My elderly mother who resides in a nursing facility bought the Thrivent spiel and had signed up with them years ago. She had purchased nursing home insurance. When it came time for her to use it, they fought it tooth and nail. I had to get numerous, numerous affidavits and legal declarations and sent them a two-inch thick folder of documentation in order for them to finally cover her. Since that time, they treat me, the POA, like a criminal and will not discuss her policy; are rude and dismissive when simply trying to update addresses and phone numbers, and overall are cruel and harsh in their demeanor. No one expected my mother to live as long as she is, so at 95 years of age, they continue to deny and fight back against her increasing nursing home charges. I would never in my life work with this company in any manner!

  Terrible company to deal with. Settling and estate that had policies with Thrivent. They make you supply documents that are not needed by other insurance companies. Will not send or receive emails. There higher purpose is to make it difficult for their clients.

  They absolutely stone wall you legally and do nothing that is indicative or care or concern. The moment you need them, they're gone hiding behind their legal team via voicemail!Absolutely horrible, ethically disgusting behaviour.
