I contacted Baxter Construction about a bill I received for over 900 dollars for "mitigation." I have the chain of emails with the owner **** Baxter available. I asked the 2 ************************* workers that came for a "free estimate." They lied and misrepresented themselves, estimated costs, and the fact that a test did not need to be done. I repeatedly expressed to the workers that I did not want to do anything yet as my home owner's insurance deductible is $2500. They lied about a test needing to be done on the drywall. The test is only required if demolition is to be done. The workers lied about the amount of damage from the cabinet where the sink had leaked. They claimed the cabinet was "soaked" and that I would need to replace the cabinets, the under floor, the flooring, the side insulation on the house, have the granite counters remove with the possibility they would crack and need stone would need to be installed, I repeatedly informed **** that the workers were very pushy, they were constantly asking me to contact my home owners insurance. I also informed ********** felt they were trying to take advantage of me as a woman. I had 2 other licensed handypersons come out to look at the cabinet for a free estimate. They told me I was fine as long as it was fully dried. They also asked me not to share their names with Baxter construction because they would harass them. The workers asked me to give them the names and phone numbers of the persons who told me this. The workers did not go into the crawl space, they did not do any mitigation, and then I was sent a bill for almost 900 dollars. After many emails back and forth with **** he "reduced it" and stated no further changes would be made. When talking to several other women without naming the business name about the frustration I felt every single one asked me "is it Baxter construction?" **** has also threated to send my bill to collection if I do not pay by the end of today.

Subject: Response to Your BBB Complaint Baxter Construction

Dear Ms. ********************** you for reaching out through the Better Business Bureau regarding your concerns about the billing for mitigation services provided by Baxter Construction. We take all customer feedback seriously and appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns.

Our records indicate that you signed a Work Authorization on October 26, allowing us to proceed with the necessary mitigation services. That same day, our IICRC-certified technicians began work by performing the required testing and setting up our drying equipment. The hazardous materials testing was conducted in accordance with ************************** regulations to ensure proper safety and compliance.

On October 27, you requested that we pull our equipment and stop our services before the drying process was completed. Per your request, we promptly removed the equipment, concluded our work, and you signed a release acknowledging the completion of services.

The original invoice for the services and testing was $798.04, not $900.After you contacted our office, we applied a courtesy credit, reducing the balance to $546.39. After several months passed without further contact or payment, the account was turned over to collections in accordance with our standard billing practices.

Regarding concerns about workmanship, we can confidently attest to the qualifications of our IICRC-certified technicians who performed the mitigation services. However, we cannot speak to the credentials of any other individuals you may have hired outside of Baxter Construction.

Baxter Construction is committed to providing transparent and high-quality service.
We appreciate your time and hope we have addressed your concerns.

    Best regards,
