On 9/5/23 I reached out to FDC Construction about a kitchen renovation project that I accepted and signed a contract on 10/4/23. The project did not officially begin until 1/29/24 with the demolition of my kitchen walls and removal of cabinetry. The contract states that the completion of the scope of work would be less than 3 months. As of 4/22/24, the project has yet to be completed and has been filled with numerous instances of negligence and/or lack of quality control. I'm filing this complaint based on the failure to finish the project as written in the contract and based on the number of issues I've experienced. On 3/5/24, I received a notification from my HOA that my neighbor had reported water leaking from their ceiling. It was then discovered that there has been a leak where my sink had once been that caused water damage to my neighbors ceiling. It also damaged the newly installed floorboards which needed to be replaced. Im uncertain of how long that **** had been thereit was not communicated to me.Then on 3/21/24, the incorrect quartz counter-top was installed, but the error was not spotted by FDC Construction and was reported by me. I provided a photo of the quartz counter-top including the *** I wanted on 12/20/23. The incorrect counter-top has henceforth been replaced with the correct one, however it has not been cut to the same specifications as the one previously installed. There is now a gap between where the stove meets the counter-top that did not exist previously.A total amount of $27,267.12 has been paid to FDC Construction with $23,613.70 being a 60% deposit of the estimated cost of the project. I have spent an additional estimated $4,000 on the project for appliances and materials independent from what FDC Construction has purchased. An email was sent to the Sales Manager ***** on 4/17/24 but no resolution has been made.

    Business Response

In the contract it states that it is an approximate completion time, delays in construction happen and they are out of our control, inspected projects take longer than normal jobs, that comes with the territory. We try our best to make things run smoothly as that is our customers best interest and ours as well. We apologized for the inconvenience of the water leak, and acted quickly to mend the problem. We were in contact with your neighbor and agreed to a solution that would be satisfactory to both them and you. Understandably it is an uncomfortable situation that nobody wants to be in, us included. Free of charge we fixed the damages and leak. Similarly the quartz countertop mixup, we had Statuary Classique in the estimate as your last slab you picked which is where the confusion came in. As at that time we placed the order with a 3rd party subcontractor and that's the slab that he had in his system and installed. Mistake was on us, no problem, we asked you what solution would be satisfactory to you, you wanted the new slab, So we purchased the new slab out of pocket and paid for fabrication out of our pockets as well. There was a big delay when the cabinets first came in due to the cabinets being damaged from shipping coming from ******. The cabinets were supplied by a 3rd Party supplier, and we did not handle the shipping of the cabinets personally. Thus putting it out of our control, we would love for everything to come in perfectly but that does not always happen. The new boxes were ordered free of charge of course and installed. We took responsibility and acted professionally on our end.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I am still awaiting them to actually finish the project but after additional communications made outside of this complaint, I feel like I can accept this resolution.

    Sincerely,
