And then we also added a used phone to help with our bills with the barter agreement, which we would like to receive back as well as the ring.

Rebuttal to Complaint from ****** *****

Re: Response to Contract Dispute Complaint ****** *****

    To Whom It May Concern,

This statement is in response to the complaint submitted by ****** ***** regarding a barter agreement between herself and **** *., a former artist at Hieroglyphic Ink.

    1. Nature of the Agreement

Ms. ***** entered into a barter agreement in which **** agreed to provide professional tattoo services in exchange for a ******* ring and, later, a used cell phone. A signed agreement was in place and clearly outlined the terms of this exchange. The contract explicitly states:

I agree to trade services as mentioned above in exchange for ___________________. Once services have reached 50% of completion, I agree to forfeit any and all ownership of said item listed in agreement above. If the recipient of services chooses not to fulfill the agreement, a remaining balance for said services will require payment.

(Which was filled out and signed by Ms. ******************** the time services were paused, more than 50% of the tattoo work had been completed, triggering the contractual clause that grants full ownership of the bartered items to ****.

    2. Value Comparison and Additional Barter Attempts

The value of tattoo work completed by **** far exceeds the total estimated value of the ring and phone combined. Four tattoo sessions total were provided to both Ms. ***** and another individual, and no issues were raised about quality or delivery at the time of service.
Its important to note that during the initial agreement, Ms. ***** attempted to include numerous other used items including old phones, Fitbits, and miscellaneous electronics in an effort to increase her barter offering. These items were respectfully declined by me [Kalani] as they held little to no value. Despite this, **** generously accepted one used phone as part of the agreement, showing flexibility and good faith.

    3. Scheduling and Communication

Ms. ***** claims she was unable to reach us for scheduling after April. However, she was well aware that we were in the middle of closing our shop, relocating our home, starting new jobs, and launching a new business. During this time, our availability was understandably limited, and we communicated that we needed patience and time to resettle.
We maintain that there was no refusal to communicate or attempt to avoid completing the agreement. Any delays were circumstantial and not a breach of contract.

    4. Defamation and Harm to Our Business

Ms. ***** accusations including claims of unfinished work and refusal to return property are false, harmful, and defamatory. They misrepresent the situation and unfairly damage the reputation of our temporarily closed business. These public statements, especially in the absence of full context and signed agreement terms, are misleading and inappropriate.
We respectfully request that Ms. ***** refrain from making any further defamatory remarks, and instead direct any future concerns through proper legal channels.

    5. Willingness to Resolve

While we are under no legal or ethical obligation to offer refunds or return items, we are willing to return the used phone as a gesture of goodwill provided the matter is resolved civilly and without further misrepresentation. However, we retain full ownership of the ring, per the signed and binding contract.

    Conclusion

The agreement was honored in good faith, and the work performed was more than fair in value. We firmly deny any wrongdoing and reject the request for a refund. We remain open to resolving this respectfully but will defend ourselves against defamation or baseless legal claims if necessary.

    Sincerely,

    ****** ********
    Owner, Hieroglyphic Ink LLC
