    I had my car taken to sounds on wheels and the didn't properly close my hood and it flew open while driving down the highway 30 minutes after leaving their facility. I called and reported the incident and they said they had the mechanic on video opening the hood, and they had me send in the photos I took, they said they would work with me on getting it figured out, then they told me to just have my insurance fix it. This is a clear negligence incident.

    On 09/04/2025 **** ******* and another female brought a 2012 ***** Civic and a 2017 ****** Impreza in to transfer ***** Gardners Lifesafer Interlock device from one vehicle to the other. Prior to any removal or installation, we do a thorough check-in and check-out procedure on each vehicle. We first removed the device from the 2012 ***** Civic and then proceeded to install the same device into the 2017 ****** Impreza. On the 2017 ****** Impreza my technician documented and took photos of the front bumper being loose at both fenders.The technician did a load test on the battery as we do on every vehicle which requires opening and closing the hood. Video footage obtained from our camera shows the hood being opened and closed in a safe and secure manner. On the 2017 ****** Impreza there are at least two safety features one is the secondary latch position when the hood is closed but not closed in the primary latch position the secondary latch will not allow the hood to open without pressing open the secondary hood latch. There is also a dash indicator light that would illuminate if the hood was not closed all the way. The vehicle was inspected for proper operation of the interlock and vehicle functions prior to delivering the vehicle to **** *******. **** ******* also signed the check in sheet indicating the damage to the front of the vehicle prior to install in the 2017 ****** Impreza. My understanding was that **** ******* drove somewhere around 40 miles from the store with half of those miles which included highway speeds when she experienced an issue with the hood opening. After reviewing the title and finding out that it is a salvage title and that the safety features of the vehicle were either disabled or never repaired is an indication of problems outside of our control. We offered ***** ******* to utilize his insurance company, and we would help with the deductible, but he declined. Furthermore, Washington State law: WAC **********: (3) Hoodlatches: A front opening hood must be equipped with a primary and a secondary latching system to hold the hood in a closed position. This is in line with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 113, Hood Latch System: This Standard applies to MPVs, trucks and buses. It establishes the requirement that all hoods must have a primary latch system. Front opening hoods, which, in any open position, partially or completely obstruct a drivers forward view through the windshield must also have either a secondary latch position or a second hood latch system.
