      I had JC Landscaping install a fence in the back and side of my yard in November 2020 at a cost of $7,000, and I would remove the old fencing and haul it away. After a few months, I noticed the gate was not closing properly. Come to find out, they used drywall and interior screws to hang it, which had rusted and broken off. I tried to reach *** several times, NO response so I had to spend $20 on quality exterior wood screws and fix it myself. The lumber that was used was of very poor quality. Splits, warping, large broken off pieces were used and it was obvious that it wasnt a professional job. The workmanship was very poor. Sections that should have been attached to the chain link fence were only fastened on the bottom. They used two nails per board and drove them in way too deep. There were many boards that I could pull off, as the nail should have been only driven to the surface. A number of boards were ripped unevenly. Because only two nails were used per board, the fence shrunk and the boards warped. I called and texted the owner (***) two months after the installation to address these issues. When I stained the fence in *** 2021, I found so many problems with the installation that I could not simply ignore and live with it I called, texted, emailed, and sent videos. Finally I was able to reach *** after several weeks and he told me Id waited to long to contact him, that me staining the fence in *** rather than August was the cause of these problems. I emailed him screenshots of the texts Id sent, showing no response, as well as phone calls. He agreed to come out and look at the fence. I could tell he was embarrassed over the poor job that his crew did on the fence. He said hed see what he could do and would get back to me soon. A week or so later, he agreed to replace all of the panels, the warped posts and to fasten the boards with external wood screws, four per board. He said it would take three days to do the work. It ended up being five. My yard was wide open for many of those days, despite asking to have only a few sections open at a time, as I have a dog. The second fence install was better in terms of materials and workmanship. However, the panels were installed unevenly in most places, leaving huge gaps gaps at the bottom from 2 to 8. When the first fence was done, the gap was only an inch or two. Friends and neighbors were very quick to point this out, as the fence looked like an amateur installed it. Again, I texted and sent pictures, letting *** know I needed a solution to this issue as I was worried my dog would get out (and I was about to adopt another dog). After NO response for three weeks, I installed wire fencing along the bottom. A few days after I installed it, my dog injured his eye by walking into some of the wire, which I attribute to me not knowing to secure this so no wires poke out. I finally reached *** after 21 days. I was on vacation and dont answer my phone. To me, this is not acceptable. How about a voice recording, auto text response or a notice on your site stating you are on vacation. Or, have an employee answer the phone?!? *** said he would look at the pictures and see what he could do. Aside from removing the incorrectly installed panels and reinstalling them using new lumber, Im not sure what else can be done. In addition to all of this, Im going to have to buy and re-stain the fence again next year. The first time I stained it, I ended up going thru 17 gallons of stain due to having to put two heavy coats on each board to try to hide the damaged wood and poor installation. The cost of the stain was well over $500, not to mention the week it took me to do this.
