My engine temperature light came on, I found their site online and looked up reviews, the site I found had good reviews so I thought to trust them. I paid for someone to check my car, they said everything was good, they came back and said that my coolant needed to be flushed. I mentioned the engine temperature light and they said that was normal. They did the flush and the light still appeared. I had to get a new car because of them and when I tried to get a refund, they said that everything was done properly and any maintenance before getting looked at was not on them. I asked how there could be any maintenance needed when I was told everything checked out. There was no real response.

      Hello,

YourMechanic has reviewed ************** complaint. ************************* scheduled YourMechanic to diagnose why the thermostat light was on. YourMechanic arrived on March 6, 2024 and completed the requested service.

YourMechanic left the vehicle running for 30 minutes during the inspection and found no issues. The coolant level and temperature did not change. However, the mechanic recommended a coolant system flush because the coolant was brown and *****. YourMechanic returned on March 7, 2024 and performed a coolant system flush successfully on their vehicle. During the appointment on March 7, 2024, YourMechanic did not find any new issues with the cooling system.

************************* informed YourMechanic on March 20, 2024 that their car was overheating. The vehicle was diagnosed by another shop who determined the issue was related to a blown head gasket. During YourMechanics original inspection on March 6, 2024, there were no indications that the head gasket or cooling system had any issues despite the lengthy and detailed diagnostic that was performed. YourMechanic is declining to provide a refund since the diagnosis and coolant system flush did not cause the blown head gasket. If ************************* has any questions regarding the services for their vehicle, they can contact YourMechanic by email at ******************************************.

      Thank you,
      YourMechanic

I am rejecting this response because: the coolant flush is the source of the problem. After service was performed I asked if there was anything I needed to look out for. I was told that the engine temperature light would go away (it never did) and was told that I might hear gurgling as the coolant was filled too high. I had to take it in because the engine was overheating, the diagnosis report reported that the tech found coolant around the engine bay, the tech also performed a head gasket diagnosis where they found that coolant was entering cylinder 4. Due to the coolant being overfilled, the diagnosis report stated a new head gasket, water pump and spark plugs.

      Sincerely,

      *************************

I used a "locked-in booking discount price" of $152.75 versus the regular booking price ($172.75), because my car wasn't starting. On the website, it does not imediatly tell you that, if I cancel, I will not get my money back and the $152.75 will go to a "future credit" (which I don't want, nor will I ever use this service again). A matter of a fact when I hit the pay button for the $172.75, a window prompt came up to ask me if I wanted "the locked in booking discount"; and this prompted window did NOT tell me the legal terms and conditions. Naturally, wanting to save $20, I clicked yes for "the locked in booking discount". An hour later I got my car started and called to cancel the appointment. I cancelled the appointment on April 24th. I have email confirmation. The appointment was for April 30th. I called twice to ask for my $152.75 back. They will not give it to me. This is a scam. And as I said, the fine print (that I cannot have my money back and that it goes towards a future credit--that I don't want) was hidden on the prompt pop-up window. On the website, right before purchasing there is a statement that says "Your Card will NOT be billed until the work is done". the statement is made right above where you put your credit card information in. This is a LIE. Not only was my credit card billed imediatly, but they will not give me my money back.

      Hello,

YourMechanic has reviewed ******************* complaint. ************************* placed an order online for YourMechanic to diagnose why their vehicle wasnt starting for April 30, 2024. The order was originally placed on April 24, 2024 and canceled the same day.

When placing the order, ************************* accepted the terms for YourMehanics locked-in booking discount. The terms and conditions are provided when placing an order online at YourMechanic.com. The terms and conditions can also be found at: ******************************************************. YourMechanics locked-in booking discount provides a discount when agreeing to pre-pay for an appointment. As a courtesy, YourMechanic is providing ************************* a refund for the full amount that was pre-paid. The refund will appear in their account within 7 to 10 business days. If ************************* has any questions regarding the refund, they can contact YourMechanic by email at ******************************************.

      Hello,

YourMechanic has reviewed ********* Streets complaint. ********* Street was scheduled for April 23, 2024 to replace the oil pan on their vehicle. No diagnostic was scheduled prior to scheduling the repair.

When preparing the appointment, YourMechanic was unable to obtain the oil pan originally planned for the repair. YourMechanic reached out to ************************* regarding the price increase a day prior to the repair. ************************* did not agree with the price increase.

************************* requested to cancel the appointment. YourMechanic canceled the repair without a cancellation fee. Hello,

YourMechanic has reviewed ****************** complaint. *********************** placed an order online for YourMechanic to replace a control arm on their vehicle for April 13, 2024. No diagnostic was scheduled with YourMechanic prior to the repair.

YourMechanic arrived as scheduled on April 13, 2024. After inspecting the suspension, the technician determined that the repair could not be completed due to excessive rust. YourMechanic could not complete the repair and charged a cancellation fee of $150.00.

YourMechanic came out in good faith to complete the repair as ordered. YourMechanic could not perform the repair as ordered due to a pre-existing condition on the vehicle that YourMechanic was not informed of prior to arriving. Full description and dates are provided in attached Word doc. We have attempted to have the business resolve the issue and they have declined. We have been without our car for over 1 month. The new shop will have it repaired by 4/22/24 and we are forced to pay an additional $750.00 due to YourMechanic's misdiagnosis. A rental car for 1 month was quoted at a starting rate of $1700. We never asked for this, but were forced to rent for 3 days for a business trip (receipt attached). We want a full refund for misdiagnosis ($194.00)+faulty repair that caused additional damage to car ($1373.80)+correct repair ($750)+3 day rental ($141.53) paid to us. We also want confirmation that all debts YM agreed to pay QualTech were paid and we owe nothing further. Total to us: $2459.33.

      Business Response

      Date: 04/30/2024

      Hello,

YourMechanic has reviewed ********************* complaint. YourMechanic was scheduled for March 17, 2024 to inspect ********************* vehicle and why the vehicle would turn off. YourMechanic provided recommendations to repair the issue which were scheduled for March 23, 2024. YourMechanic arrived as scheduled and completed the recommended repairs. Later, after the repairs were completed, ***************************** reported that the vehicles engine was making a noise. A pre-warranty inspection was scheduled for March 25, 2024 to determine the cause of the noise.

      YourMechanic did not charge ***************************** for the pre-warranty inspection. During the pre-warranty inspection, YourMechanic was able to determine the vehicles issue was related to oil pressure. YourMechanic can perform most repairs in a mobile setting, but some repairs require equipment found in a shop. YourMechanic was unable to provide the repairs the vehicle needed. So YourMechanic provided permission to ***************************** to take their car to a local shop to inspect and provide an estimate for repairs. If the shop found that YourMechanic was responsible for repairs, then the repairs would be covered by YourMechanics ****** mile and/or 12-month limited warranty which can be found at *************************************************;

YourMechanic was reassured by the shop who inspected ********************* vehicle that the repairs they quoted would repair the vehicles issue. After receiving the service report that detailed the vehicles problem and the estimate for repairs, YourMechanic did approve the camshaft repairs to be performed by the shop. YourMechanic provided payment directly to the shop for the approved repairs and gave permission to start the repairs immediately. After completing the repairs, the shop claimed the *** valve would also be needed. However, this part was not affected by YourMechanics original repair, so YourMechanic declined to cover the cost to replace it.

***************************** has not indicated any issue with the other repairs YourMechanic completed on their vehicle. Since those repairs were successful and the parts are installed on their car, YourMechanic is declining to provide a refund for them. ***************************** did not request reimbursement for a rental car prior to renting a vehicle. So ********************* car rental reimbursement request is also being declined. If ***************************** has any questions regarding the services they received from YourMechanic, they are welcome to email ******************************************.

      Thank you,

      Date: 05/01/2024

      Complaint: 21605118

I am rejecting this response because:

YM made repairs over a 2 day period based on the recommendation of a mechanic that misdiagnosed the problem and, 1.  YM exacerbated the issue by improperly replacing bolts that created damage to the car when it was driven after the mechanic left.  2.  ***************************** did not just report the engine noise, she stated the concern while the mechanic was still with her and he left making multiple excuses (old car, does not want to work for YM, not worth his time).  3.  We have no way of knowing how many parts were unnecessary and costly to begin with.

After the first 'non-repair' and the second on site assessment, and after the second mechanic did not show up and we had to follow up over a few days....** told us that they were sending the car to another shop because it would ***********-8 hours for repair and it was not effective for them to send another mechanic.

YM approved the shop to repair the warrantied items they had improperly installed and to find the source of the noise (the loose parts/cam shaft damages caused due to their negligence).  However, due the YM's original MISDIAGNOSIS, the original problem persisted.  We were without a car for a full month due to YM's mistakes.  The new shop mechanic did their own diagnosis and quickly found the only need was EGR sensor and modulator to correct the problem at $714.  ** has refused to pay to correct the problem and after quoting us $1373 (+$194) for the misdiagnosis and damaging misrepair, we have now paid $2300 to finally get our car back and running correctly, plus the cost of having to rent a car for work. No, I didn't ask in advance for coverage.  They should be thankful I only required a car for 3 days out of close to 30 since I have the benefit of a predominately remote office.

The reassurance YM states they received from the new shop was to fix what YM broke and they did.  The new mechanic was limited and bound to the warranty items, not the true issue that was never resolved due to YM's lack of care and misdiagnosis.

We most certainly did indicate the repairs YM completed on our vehicle.  ***** told them in person on the first day they claimed completion, the following 2 days, and when the second YM mechanic came for review.  ***** and ************************* both made calls to YM and to the second mechanic (that did not answer or return calls) stating the problem.  The first mechanic sent an unprofessional text saying "Man. I thought you were cool." After the new shop repair *** reached out to YM and expressed his frustration of the additional cost (which should have been the ONLY original cost), he sent emails on 4/25 and 4/29.  ***** and *** both completed poor reviews due to all of the issues.  YM does not appear to have read all of the documentation that came with the reviews and our original complaint or they would not have us repeating all of this.

I have already reported the issues to my credit card company to dispute YM charges for their waste of time due to misdiagnosis and damaging my car to where it needed additional repair.  I will 100% take the issue to small claims court if not resolved within 14 days.

      Sincerely,

      *****************************

Mechanic first cancelled / rescheduled then two days later came out to do the oil change that I had completely paid for in full. He claimed my car had a major oil leak and it was the policy of your mechanic to not do the work for liability issues. First of all, of course the car is leaking oil. It's got 150,00 miles and it needs an oil change. Second, my vehicle registration is due in April and needed a smog check done. I had just had it tested and passed. A car would not pass if it had a major oil leak. No work was ever done and they refuse to return my money. Saying it's now for a diagnostic fee. There was nothing to diagnose. I wasn't having problems or needed something fixed. Just wanted an oil change. I just want my money back

      Hello,

YourMechanic has reviewed *************** complaint. ******************* scheduled YourMechanic to change the oil in their vehicle. Due to unforeseen circumstances, YourMechanic was not able to perform the service on the originally scheduled day. However, YourMechanic promptly rescheduled the appointment to the following morning. After arriving at the vehicle, YourMechanic determined that the oil change service couldnt be performed since the vehicle was leaking oil. YourMechanic recommended diagnosing and repairing the leak before performing the oil change service.

YourMechanic arrived on site prepared to complete the requested service, but due to the pre-existing condition that YourMechanic was not informed of before the appointment, it could not be completed. Per YourMechanics terms and conditions, a cancellation fee was charged. A credit for $150.00 was provided to ******************* which could be used towards a future appointment with YourMechanic. A copy of YourMechanics cancellation policy can be located at ******************************************************.

YourMechanic is declining to provide ******************* a refund since they disputed the charge with their financial institution and the dispute is still pending. If ******************* has any questions, they can reach YourMechanic at ******************************************.

      Hello,

YourMechanic has reviewed Qurahn Washingtons complaint. Qurahn Washington scheduled YourMechanic to replace the front brake pads and rotors without requesting a diagnostic. YourMechanic allows customers to skip a diagnostic if they know which repairs their vehicle needs. YourMechanic arrived at the vehicle on January 31, 2024 and replaced the parts as ordered.

Qurahn Washington contacted YourMechanic on March 28, 2024 to report an issue with their vehicles brakes. YourMechanic requested to inspect their vehicle since no inspection was ordered prior to installing the parts. YourMechanic provides a ****** mile and/or 12-month limited warranty on parts and labor. To provide a pre-warranty inspection and repairs, their vehicle would need to be within YourMechanics service area. Information about YourMechanics limited warranty can be found at ********************************************.

Qurahn Washington indicated that their vehicle is at a Chevrolet dealership which is located in a different state and almost 300 miles away from the original service location. YourMechanic did not have a technician nearby. Since their vehicle was already inspected and parked at a dealership, YourMechanic requested an inspection report detailing the issues with the vehicles brakes. YourMechanic has not received an inspection report yet. The only documentation YourMechanic received was an estimate for installing brakes and tires.

YourMechanic is refusing to provide any repairs until a proper inspection has been completed and a report has been provided to YourMechanic. If Qurahn Washington does not provide YourMechanic with the inspection report from the dealership it is located at, then the vehicle will need to be safely moved to within YourMechanics service area so the inspection can be completed. If Qurahn Washington has a copy of the inspection report, it can be emailed to ******************************************.

      Thank you,

I thought I would try our their service as I needed a new starter for my car (a fifteen year old ****** with the original starter). Its a very convenient service, but buyer beware. They came out with some remanufactured part and they worked fast. I was grateful as I depend on my car to get to work and I cannnot be late. They gave me 12 month or 12k mile warranty. Well guess what?In the 10th month the car didnt start, but since it happened once, I figured I didnt turn the key fully. Well, at exactly 11 months as ****** miles, the starter failed again. Talk about frustrating. 300 miles over their warranty and because I gave them the benefit of the doubt a month earlier by thinking it was my mistake versus their defective part, I get to get someone else to work on my car and pay them another fee. Such a scam. DO NOT USE these people. They will rip you off and wont even bother to email you back when you reach out to them. Stay far away. If you need a mobile mechanics, try Repair *****. They are backed by Auto Nation and wont hide from you when you encounter a problem.Shame on Your Mechanic.

      Hello,

YourMechanic has reviewed ****************** response. *********************** requested a starter replacement on their vehicle which was scheduled for May 5, 2023. No diagnostic was scheduled prior to the starter repair. YourMechanic arrived as scheduled and completed the repair.

YourMechanic was contacted by *********************** in April 2024 concerning the starter repair that was completed on May 5, 2023. YourMechanic contacted *********************** by phone and email regarding the warranty status of the repair to inform them that the warranty had exceeded the mileage limitation.

YourMechanic is declining a refund request since the original repair was completed as ordered. YourMechanic understands the starter repair is just outside of its warranty and would be happy to assist with the repair if its still needed. If *********************** has any questions for YourMechanic, they can email ****************************************** for assistance.

      Thank you,
      YourMechanic

Its been a week and just being told they have to investigate and they will contact us but nobody is calling us back and they are avoiding return the money that was paid.

      Hello,

YourMechanic has reviewed *************************** complaint. YourMechanic was scheduled for repairs on *************************** vehicle for March 27, 2024.

YourMechanic offers customers the ability to schedule specific repairs online. ************************* pre-paid and scheduled their appointment online before providing a ***. YourMechanic recommends providing a *** to ensure an accurate quote for repair costs is provided. An email was sent requesting the *** for their vehicle which ************************* replied to by calling into YourMechanic with the information.

After updating the ***, adjustments were made to the quote to reflect the vehicles specifications. This caused an increase in the cost of the repair. Since ************************* did not approve the cost increase, the appointment was canceled without a cancellation fee and a refund was approved the same day, March 27, 2024

************************* was fully refunded. Refunds can take up to 7-10 business days to process. If ************************* has any questions regarding the refund, they can contact YourMechanic at ***************************.

      Thank you,
      YourMechanic
