On 10 Sept. 2021 we hired Top Hat Chimney Sweep and Repair because we had spalding bricks on two chimneys (1 large and 1 small) that needed to be fixed per our insurance company. The repairs were completed on 21 Sept. 2021 and we paid $3671.80. Within a few weeks their work was cracking and pieces were falling off of the chimney. We had our neighbor who is a home inspector climb up and inspect. He informed us that the work was cracking and he took pictures. I had tried contacting Top Hat several times but we had to leave messages and calls were never returned. Once they actually did answer a call, which I am sure was by accident, I let them know what was happening and they said they would call me back. They never called back. I then repeatedly tried to call but there was never an answer or a returned call. We are now getting estimates to have our chimney rebuilt as there are more and more pieces falling off and every contractor has informed us what a terrible repair job this was. The last contractor, **** from RT General Construction **************/************** a BBB member, stated he would give you a detailed description of what the chimney looks like if you need that. We are seeking to be refunded the $3671.80 as we now have to pay to have the chimney rebuilt.
