Hiring this contractor was the biggest mistake. I did my due diligence and checked references and made sure his license was current. We hired ***** for a custom kitchen remodel and several home updates. It became very clear early on in our project that we were not a priority and that he was not making a good-faith effort to finish our project in a timely manner, despite regular assurances to the contrary. All the while, he continued to charge us a weekly project management fee of $1,062.50. Over the course of 10 weeks, he logged a miniscule TOTAL of ***** hours on our home remodel project, or barely more than 10 hours per week. We were off schedule from the first week, and were charged the weekly project management fee even on weeks when there was NO WORK being done on our project. We had purchased custom materials for our job and were assured that he had the ability to provide us with a custom kitchen remodel. However, when it came time for installation, there were a multitude of issues. These issues ranged from repeated improper installation to correcting his mis-measurements by trimming down our custom-made materials. These issues arose despite having detailed renderings and access to help from the clients interior designer and cabinet company. It was clear that he overestimated his abilities. We spent thousands more dollars and 21 additional weeks fixing his mistakes. There were multiple issues with poor installation and craftsmanship. On several occasions, ***** gave instructions to sub-contractors that were either in direct opposition to previous agreements with the homeowner, or that were completely inexplicable - and without homeowner consultation. Sadly, this has happened to two other homeowners and I am putting this here in hopes that others don't go through the same financial hardship, strain and stress that ***** Showalter put us through.

I give this contractor ZERO stars. After having nothing but issues with him from March to June/July 2022, I had to employ legal counsel to get my work going again. You can read my ****** review for additional details, but he rarely showed up to do the work, his subcontractors were calling me for payment even though I paid him every single dollar he asked for, sans $3,200 for surprise housing needs when he told me last minute I could not move in on the agreed upon date in June 2022. I write this now because after bringing on a new, professional contractor, so much was done wrong or left undone by ********************************* and his subs. To be fair, he likely didn't pay the subs, which is why they called me for payment and/or just walked off the job. But in addition to the shoddy drywall that took 8 days, two workers and $20,000 to repair, the plumbing was left unconnected - $3,800 additional dollars. The electrical was left undone -- $7,800. Cabinets I paid him in full for - $26,000 - I had to pay an additional $13k to get out of **** from the cabinet company because he pocketed the other half. He never provided invoices with detail, receipts or change orders. If you hire this contractor, have your legal counsel revise the contract with solid accounting procedures, dispute resolution, etc. I am one of three customers he scammed over the same time frame = ~$300,000 and all of us had substantial costs to repair, repurchase and finish our jobs. Feel free to reach out if you need additional information.

I would not recommend them.. We are the 3rd kitchen remodel this contractor has left during construction without finishing the job & continues to demand payment in the past 6 months! I have talked to the two other homeowners in length,we all had very similar experiences. We hired Showalter in January of 2022 to remodel our kitchen in the Spring. Demo started on June 13th and on September 9th, ***** Showalter walked off the job leaving us with cabinets partially installed, no appliances, no running water, no tile, trim & faulty wiring-a complete disaster. Our cabinets were set too high leaving us with a 1 inch gap from the base to the floor. We now have to order custom painted trim to hide his mistakes. We paid him over $100,000 for a remodel that is not complete & poorly crafted .He rarely showed up to work unless he was expecting a payment from us...he would then show up for a few hours to work, pick up his check and he wouldn't return for 4-5 days. Leaving his "Project Manager" to visit our site for a couple of hours a day throughout the week. Since Showalter had months to schedule our remodel, we thought it would be a smooth process. However, when we inquired about stages of completion, we were given vague generalities and no concrete or specific dates. Everything was done on the fly and by the seat of their pants. Needless to say, weeks were lost. Seeing this snail's pace of construction, on a daily basis, was very, very demoralizing. We paid heavily for the "project management" when none was in effect. We have been without a kitchen for over 4 months and are in the process of trying to find someone to finish it. Although finding trades and suppliers to finish our kitchen may be more expensive, we are relieved to be done with this company.
