I ordered some product from ****** and a very minor mistake was made on their end which was fine and happens. I was sent the wrong color of the product I ordered so I politely contacted their customer service to remedy the issue however after doing so I was charged again for the products that I had already paid for but were incorrect. I was not told that this was going to happen and did not authorize the ***resentative to charge my account. When I contacted the ***resentative I was told they would refund me back once they received the incorrect product they had sent me. I told them if that is the case they need to send *** to my location to pick the product I didn't order and they issued me a call tag. I then told them to please have *** contact me to let me know when I can expect them to pick up and they appeared to have complied however *** has not contacted me and the ***resentative is now not responding to me. It has now been 2 weeks that I have been trying to this ***resentative to communicate with me and simply let me know when I can expect the pick up so that I can be p***ared for it. I believe this ***resentative to be avoiding helping me on purpose as I am only getting short vague ***lies and 1 to 2 responses a day if any and this has gone on long enough. If this unauthorized transaction was in the thousands was withdrawn from my account and actively being held by the non compliant *** it could put me out of business. I simply want them to fix the mistake they made and release the funds that they are now illegally withholding from me.

I have been doing business with SanMar since 2013. Yesterday (8/22/2024) I was unable to get the final button to place my order to work, so I called my order in. When comparing the total on my screen to the total the lady on the phone taking my order had, they did not match. She said I was charged Sales Tax. I explained I am tax exempt and I buy through SanMar at wholesale prices. She then informed me that the state of Iowa changed in 2020 and they needed a different form filled out which they emailed me in 2020. In August of 2020 I was not doing much if any business due to COVID. I was not aware of any changes and as I have been placing all of my order with them since then, they have been giving me an order confirmation that states Sales Tax $0 (document example attached), so I have no reason to assume they were charging me Sales Tax. She said that the document doesn't show it, but my credit card has been charged for the sales tax. I trusted that what I was being shown was being charged and I did not compare all of my credit card statements with ******'s actual charges. I feel they are not being forthcoming in what they have been charging. They had my tax exemption form and number on file and nothing had changed. When reading through the document she sent me stating I had to fill it out because it is a state requirement, **** isn't even one of the listed states. I would love a refund of the money, but understand that is probably not possible so I would also be okay with a store credit with a total of the incorrect charges since 2020. They incorrectly charged me sales tax as I am exempt and did not correctly inform me that they were doing so. I have not totaled the amount yet as it is going to be a tedious process, but I will be totaling what they have incorrectly charged since August of 2020.

      Dear Better Business Bureau representative,

This is a response from San Mar Corporation regarding a customer complaint from *********************************** (complaint #********). As a preliminary matter, we want to assure you that we take concerns and feedback seriously and we strive for customer satisfaction.

Ms. ********** complaint centers around sales tax being charged on certain orders placed with San Mar.Because San Mar is a supplier and sells to businesses with reseller certificates, typical sales transactions are exempt from sales tax. Due to an error related to the reseller certificate status in Ms. ********** account, sales tax was added to a number of transactions.

San Mar communicated with ********************** about this matter and the matter was promptly resolved with ********************* receiving full credit for the sales tax charges. Please note that San Mar settled this matter to Ms. ********** satisfaction prior to us becoming aware of this BBB complaint.

While we believe the matter is resolved, we will discuss this complaint with her to determine whether she has any further concerns she would like to discuss.

      Thank you,

      *******
