As a small business owner, I try to support small businesses. In fact, that is why we chose to buy our carpet from Nielson **** Flooring, in ******, **. In early December 2021, we visited the showroom to look at carpet and brought home samples. A few days later, we called and asked for measurements to be done. *** quickly made his way to our house, took the measurements and called the following day with a quote. *** stated that he could arrange for the carpet to be put in, no later than the week between Christmas and New Years. Being very pleased with the timing of the installation, we called *** and we paid for half of the amount over the phone. *** indicated that he would be in touch within the next week, with a firm date and time for the installation. After a week had passed, I called *** and asked about the scheduling of the installation. *** told me that the carpet was in, but he had not had time to secure someone to install our carpeting. I told *** that I was disappointed, however he told me that someone should be there to install the carpet the following Monday, December 27. About an hour after that, *** called and said that someone will be here at 9:00am the following day, which was December 23. So, we moved all of our furniture into one of the rooms that was not going to be carpeted that day and waited.and, waited. The carpet installer did not arrive at the agreed upon time and I made several calls to Nielson **** to find out what the problem was. *** seemed very unorganized and made several excuses, as to why his installer was not on time. Finally at noon, the installer arrived. However, the installer sat in his van for two (2) hours waiting for his assistant to arrive. This forced us into having to schedule someone to work, as one of us needed to stay home instead of working our small business, costing us almost $100 in labor. If the installer would have arrived as scheduled, we would not have incurred labor cost. Due to the Christmas holiday, the installer indicated that he would return on Monday, December 27 at 9:00am to complete the third bedroom and stairwell. Again, 9:00am came and went, we heard nothing from Nielson **** or the carpet installer. In fact I called Nielson **** and they were unable to get a hold of the installer and told me that they are assuming that he cannot make it due to the snow. Which, is fine, just wanted a bit of communication instead of us, the customers, having to call and find out what was going on. On Wednesday, December ******************************************************************************************************************* Monday, January 2. We replied that we would like to have the room and stairs completed the following day and the installed asked if 9:00am worked for us. Again, 9:00am came and went..no installer, no text and no call from Nielson ****. Again, we have to schedule someone to work our small business, costing us almost $150 in labor. I followed up with a text to the installer and a call to Nielson ****, I did not hear back from either of them. I finally heard back from the installer on Saturday, January 1 after I texted asking if he would be there on Monday, January 3at 9:00am. I told him that he needed to be there as close to 9:00am, as we were having family over for a late holiday dinner. The installer responded yes, I will be there. I know I sound like a broken record, but 9:00am came and no installer. Around 11:00am, I called Nielson **** and asked to speak to ***. The person on the other line stated that *** was out doing a measurement and that he would call me back upon his return. I asked the man what the status on my carpet installer was and he was very rude, told me that he has no idea what Im talking about and needed to talk with ***. Finally, I receive a call from *** about 11:15am and the installer had still not arrived. I preceded to explain to *** about experience with his company and the unprofessional carpet installer. *** began to make excuses and told me that he did not have to deal with this. And, hung up on me! To make matter worse, the installer showed up around 12:30pm and was not done with the installation until after 9:00pm.In conclusion, we took off collectively 24 hours of leave (3 days) from our 9 to 5 job and paid out almost $300 in labor costs for our small business operations, waiting for the installer to show up. All we wanted was our carpet installed, as agreed upon and be treated with respect. Instead, Nielson **** chose not to deal with us.for that, it would be hard for us to recommend Nielson ****, as they are totally unreliable and extremely unprofessional. In addition, they cost of time away from our jobs and money out of our pockets.
