    We've used Encompass for three tax seasons now. The first year we sought service during the thick of tax season. No upfront pricing. Required second payment before seeing our taxes. Second year we submitted all our tax information mid March. She forgot us and then had to file an extension so we wouldn't be penalized. Reason given, daughter crashed car. No change in tax filing, rates were the same. Pay before seeing return. This year, tax documents documents uploaded mid February. Website changed stating that more money required upfront (the same amount we paid two years ago), if at any point after paying we wish to no longer use services we lose 100% of upfront payment. Website stated that through February turn around time is 5-7 days. Later, turn around time is two weeks. Two weeks later we haven't heard anything about our filing, no communication. We request a call and are immediately told about family member's medical emergency. Expectations were set that in 1-2 days we would be taken care of. We were forgotten for another week until we reached out again. Instead of commenting on concerns and making things right, we were gaslit and accused of not being understanding. Rates went up $125 from previous years, no explanation, no change in tax filings, no additional requests or services added.Rate Reasoning: no communication, not standing by their own publicly stated expectations, no rate transparency, extremely poor customer service, inability to provide services in timely manner (both according to their own written and verbal expectation), unprofessional communication (no proactive communication, customer must initiate, customer blamed for late turn around, no pricing transparency, no notice of pricing increase), and completely unwilling to work with customer. For three years we paid a premium rate no professionalism, next to no communication, and our taxes held hostage to preparers unexplainable situations, who also can't keep self stated turn around expectation.
