This place needs to be investigated. A friend of mine had a horrible experience with this business years ago. The bird died a few days after purchase and on top of that, *** did NOT offer any receipt upon purchase of the bird and met at a hospital parking lot (sketchy). If you read other negative reviews, you can see that the owner does not take any accountability at all, not even a little bit, and would accuse the customers of killing their birds or making them sick. *** should not allowed to be near or own any birds; she is an animal abuser and a scam artist.

Meg is a great breeder and person. She clearly loves her babies and tries to do what's right for them. I've purchased several large and small birds from her through the years, all of which have come to me healthy, happy, and full of love to share with me. If something seems off about any of my babies, even if I didn't get it from her, I know I can call her at any time and she'll tell me what to do. It's clear that all the babies that she sends to homes are still considered hers in her heart. Whenever we speak on the phone, "everyone" wants to come say hi to Mama Meg because they know her voice. She puts so much love and energy into her babies that she sometimes pushes her physical and emotional needs to the side so that she can ensure that they get the best care possible.

Buyer Beware, do NOT give this mill your money. She sells unweaned infected birds she runs a puppy mill. Bird died less than 36 hours after I received it. After digging apparently this has been happening for years with many victims. She will remove negative posts/reviews. She will also want the dead bird back. Zero refunds given. *Red flags - 1. Always meets places other than her house. 2. Talks all sorts about those that post negative reviews, blames victim. 3. Wants the bird back so you cannot send for necropsy testing. 4. Pics with filthy house hoarding conditions. 5. Sells multiple types of birds along with dogs. 6. Doesn't even know how old the bird is. Tells you 12 weeks when baby is 4 weeks Do not buy from Meg Hilkey. Turn her and shut her down. Inhumane conditions

Bought a Quaker parrot from her. It died within 16 hours. She blamed me every which way for it, but mostly used the fact that I bathed it (it was fully feathered), that my cat sat next to it and that's what killed it, that I let the bird perch when it wasn't old enough (....then how was it....perching?), that I fed it the wrong food even though it was food from her own supply list. She stated she sent a new supply list with Tropican Bird Food instead of Kaytee Exact because Kaytee kills birds. She says she sent that email with the updated food on 4-21-21 yet I received the supply list with Kaytee formula from her on 4-25-21. There is no way you can dispute that type of lie. She says her birds are all tested and vet checked yet does not and will not provide documentation. She doesn't even have a hatch date....and when I asked, she stated "That would be impossible to know." Which means she isn't breeding the birds, she is getting baby birds from elsewhere and selling them therefore not knowing the health or anything! My bird died within 16 hours. She offered a replacement once I stated I saw all the other reviews of people having similar issues, but that was with constant manipulation and blame towards me. Wonders upon wonders that the second bird she gave me is healthy and thriving and I've had him now for 2.5 month's - yet she states I was so horrible to the first one I killed him. Lies lies and more lies. She also has you pay through Friends and Family on PayPal which as a business who sells A TON of birds....is not legitimate. It should be sent through as a business payment. So that's sketchy as well. Check out Whidbey Birds Chit Chat on Facebook if you want real people who have gone through this with this "business" . Meg will try to dispute and lay blame and manipulate away any negative comment. She even posted me on her Facebook page and let people bash me, while the information she provided in regards to the post was 10000% lies, yet when I posted screenshots from our texts showing PROOF she was blatantly lying and manipulating future customers - she deleted all of those and blocked me. She also doesn't let you meet at her house, refuses to show pictures of parent birds. She says she won't meet at her house because of Covid issues....yet when I met with her she never wore a mask, not once, and stood right next to me. They also breed German Shep dogs, the puppy her daughter showed me had apparently been bitten by a spider ..... Massive goop coming from his eye, and the car she came in was literally covered in at least an inch of dirt inside - I am not even almost exaggerating. Also if you look at some of the photos she posts of the baby birds on her Whidbey Birds FB page, look at the backgrounds- they live in filth. So how can you breed over 100 species of birds, plus dogs....when it's just you and your daughter? Don't buy from her!!!!
