On May 15, 2025 I was advised of a brake problem. It is a known defect, and was formerly covered by Toyota. I do not understand why if it is a know defect, why it is not covered. I was told because the car is dangerous to drive, I needed to leave it there. They had trouble getting the part, and it is now July 3, 2025 and I have not heard from them! I asked about getting a loaner car for part of the delay, but did not get a response. All in all, a very poor experience! I think that Toyota should stand behind their product in the case of a known defect.Initial Complaint

I had my sunroof repaired here in August/September. They left my interior permanently smudged and the sunroof is not the same. I went back and had them take a look as I was not satisfied. They say it was sealed properly - but things have puckered and I can no longer drive with the sunroof cover back without excessive road noise. Of course they determined there was no problem and to investigate it, they would have to start taking things apart. They said, "We really don't like doing that," which means they didn't want to actually address what they did - and offered to do so at *MY* expense. In short - they did not return the car to me in the state in which it should have been. The airflow and noise is infinitely worse than when I took in the sunroof for repair. They took no serious responsibility. The service department manager, **** ********, failed me at every turn despite the best efforts of **** and *****. I had to advocate fiercely to receive a subpar rental vehicle with subpar wheels (one of which popped on a standard Bellingham area road). They charged top dollar and then refused to fix or clean anything to the standard it should have been done ******* I am almost 9 months later and I still have no recourse to repair or fix what they failed to do.Initial Complaint

**Subject: Serious Safety Concern: Defective Toyota Vehicle Sold at Bellingham Toyota**Dear Better Business Bureau of Washington,I am writing to express my deep concern regarding a recent purchase attempt at Bellingham Toyota. On 9/10/24, I visited the dealership with the intention of purchasing a Toyota. Unfortunately, I discovered a severe safety defect that was not disclosed to me prior to the sale.Upon inspection, I noticed that the front tires were dangerously restricted by the control arm. The clearance was so minimal that the paint was visibly worn off, indicating excessive friction and heat buildup. This condition posed a significant risk of tire blowout, potentially leading to a serious accident. Furthermore, the extreme heat generated by this constant rubbing could have caused the vehicle to catch fire and cause fatality.I am extremely disappointed that Bellingham Toyota failed to address this critical issue. The dealership's negligence and fraudulence in disclosing such a serious safety hazard is unacceptable. It is imperative that this matter be investigated to prevent other unsuspecting buyers from being put at risk.I kindly request that the Better Business Bureau of Washington conduct a thorough investigation into this incident and take appropriate action to ensure that Bellingham Toyota is held accountable for its actions.Thank you for your prompt attention to this urgent matter.Sincerely,******** ***** ************Initial Complaint

We took our Toyota Matrix, which was operating perfectly fine, to Toyota of Bellingham for routine service (oil change) on 8/4/23 (invoice TOCQ511138). After service, the car performed very badly, in fact became virtually undrivable. We took it back to the dealership on 8/30/23, dealership identified catalytic convertor and exhaust issues and brake issues not identified on 8/4/23. We authorized the recommended repairs (invoice TOCS513005) and the car continued to operate poorly. We took the car to Toyota of Bellingham one final time on 1/27/24, to complete the recommended brake repairs. Following the service (invoice TOCS526695), the vehicle ran extraordinarily loud and rough, and the brakes made noise. On 1/30/24, we informed Toyota of Bellingham service department of our dissatisfaction, but our feedback received no response.Ultimately we took our vehicle for evaluation and service from another service provider, 4/10/24 and 4/19/24. The other service provider found and documented significant shoddy workmanship and repairs not performed, including loose and ***** exhaust clamp, stripped off bolt, brake pad backing plate bent and wedged between the caliper and bracket, dust shield cover rubbing on rotor, brake hardware rusted and falling apart, caliper slide pin was not cleaned and lubed, did not grease brake shoes, oil change shorted by one quart, and other issues. We informed Toyota of Bellingham of the service failures in late April 2024, with documentation. Toyota of Bellingham acknowledged the customer service failure, but declined warranty of their service or restitution of accommodation. We entrusted a car that had been operating very well to Toyota of Bellingham for routine service, and instead experienced successively poorer operations, at high cost.Toyota of Bellingham charged us $3,186.94 for services that saw the car operate worse and worse. We paid another service provider $1,287.15 to evaluate and repair Toyota's service malpractice.Initial Complaint

I bought a used 2018 Chevrolet Truck from Toyota of Bellingham on 01/14/24. The total amount including financing is $33,544.76. I had the truck a week and noticed when I drove it and pressed on the gas pedal it would not go. I went back to Toyota of Bellingham and they told me I had to take it to the Chevrolet dealership for them to look at. I said no because I bought this off your lot. I told the salesman that I did not want the vehicle at all now because there was obviously something wrong with it. The salesman told me no I could not do that because it depreciated when I drove it off the lot and I would have to pay the depreciation value. They did send it to the Chevrolet dealership on January 19, 2024. On February 16 the Chevrolet dealership called me and said the truck needed a new transmission put in. They ordered the transmission, but they are telling me now it is on back order and they do not know when it will come in.In the meantime, I have a monthly truck payment and auto insurance payment to make. I called my finance company to see if they can delay the payments but they said I need to contact the people I bought the truck from. I did call them and they are telling me to contact my finance company. So it has been 2 1/2 months with no vehicle and no timeframe as to when I might get one. I am frustrated because I went to buy a vehicle which I did and put a down payment on but I do not have one.Business Response
