I signed up and paid a $500 down payment. 10 days later I lost my job and asked them to please cancel my membership because I could not pay for it. They withdrew 2 more payments of $143.61 before I stopped the auto-pay. I NEVER USED THE SERVICE. I did not attend any events. They refuse to cancel my membership because losing my job is not their responsibility. Now they are threatening collections. Since I never used the service and already paid $787.22 for something I didnt use, I would like the membership cancelled, collections efforts halted.Business Response

Ms. ***** signed up with our company and requested to cancel after the outlined cancellation period listed on the agreement signed by both parties. As she was past this period the balance remains legally owed. Our Resolutions Specialist did reach out to her and offered her different options regarding her remaining balance.
We have not received a payment from Ms. ***** since November of 2024. Her account is in danger of being sent to collections unless she is able to make a payment on her remaining balance. We will have our Resolutions Specialist reach out to her again to continue working on a resolution.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:It is an unethical business practice to charge someone who has already paid nearly $800 for a service that they did not ever use after circumstances beyond their control - the loss of employment and therefore income - makes it impossible to fulfill the agreement. The cancellation was submitted a few days after the short cancellation period ended, and I NEVER USED the service, so the company has not suffered a financial loss by any activity I may have participated in. A contract is a contract, but contracts should be allowed to be broken in certain circumstances, and my circumstances surely warrant a cancellation. The company received $786 from me for services never utilized.
Sincerely,

The business did not represent themselves accurately. Theyve been charging me over $100 a month. I simply wish to cancel without any additional fees. They want to charge me $2600 to cancel a membership that I do not use. Most of the event options were far away. I wasnt meeting people in my age group. And the Women outnumbered the men five to one. I would like to cancel with no additional charges moving forward. Im not asking for a refund. I simply dont wanna pay them for a service that is not what they described it would be. And is un useful for me.Business Response

Ms. ******** signed up with our services on 06/27/2024. She did not request to cancel her account with us until 03/06/2025, she would have needed to cancel by 07/02/2024 in order to be valid for a cancellation. As her account stands the balance remains owed to us.
We sell the club as exactly what it is. A singles activity club that brings together like minded individuals to get out and have fun while taking the stress out of scheduling a meet up. We do not market ourselves as a discount club, we take all the planning and worrying out of meeting people. We do not guarantee any demographics as far as age, gender or ethnicity as we constantly have members joining everyday. We offer a service, and much like a gym membership, if you choose not to participate that is your decision. Our services are ready and available for all members to use.
If Ms. ******** would like, we can have her Event Manager reach out to find more events tailored to her taste.Customer Answer

Events and Adventures is not even attempting to resolve the issue. The sales lady that explained the group did not explain anything regarding being locked into the group with no way out but buying yourself out. This is such a scam. Im completely dissatisfied with the entire experience. I have found hundreds of people complaining about the same thing and somehow these guys are still in business. What an awful way to run a business.

Events & Adventures engaged in unfair contract enforcement and deceptive billing practices. I attempted to cancel my membership, but they refused to process my request or any sort of communication and continued charging me for services I never used. Now they are threatening collections despite their failure to provide service or acknowledge my dispute. I am seeking immediate contract termination and an investigation into their business practices.Business Response

Mr. ***** did not submit a formal cancellation request for his account. Instead, he filed bank disputes on his owed membership payment. We pulled him off of automatic payments and sent him monthly statements to pay his remaining owed balance.
Our Resolutions Specialist has been in contact with Mr. ***** regarding his account since 2/5/2025. He is past his cancellation period, thus his balance remains owed. Much like a gym membership we provide a service. Even if he does not participate, our services have been rendered and payment remains owed.

Events and Adventures is a predatory company with false advertising. They lure customers with the premise that you will meet people via their events. THEY PREY ON peoples loneliness and lack of community. They lure you with the activities, then TRICK YOU INTO SIGNING A FINANCIAL CONTRACT, once you do this you are at their mercy. I paid them $2,975 and did not meet not even one person from the events I attended.Their advertised events do not take place or when you attend them there are no participants, or enough participants on them. On top of it, in all events you must pay out of pocket for whatever you consume. So, there is no benefit at all to be a member of Events & Adventures. THIS IS HANDS DOWN A RIP OFF and I want to bring to everyones attention to this fact. This company should not be allowed to operate in the ************************ as IT IS SIMPLY A SCAM where they take FINANCIAL ADVANTAGE OF YOU WITHOUT ANY BENEFIT IN RETURN.AGAIN, THIS IS HANDS DOWN A FINANCIAL RIP OFF, A COMPLETE SCAM, WITH NO BENEFIT IN RETURN.Business Response

Mr. ******* signed up with our club on Sept 21st, 2023. He interviewed with a Membership Representative that went over exactly what our club has to offer. There is no tricking anyone into signing up with our services. Our Membership Representatives learn more about each potential member, they go over our services and the current event calendar in their city so that they can see first hand what is offered in their area. If they feel they are a good fit the interviewee is shown the pricing for the different lengths of memberships we have to offer. We do not force anyone into signing a contract with us, it is entirely their decision if they choose to sign up with us. We sell the club as exactly what it is. This business approached me and coerced me into signing up for a membership with misleading information. They Would not allow me to cancel my membership and still will not. I have paid in total about $700 but I cancelled my debit card and they are now harassing me and taking me to collections for about $3,500. I was mislead about the cancellation policy, explicitly told that it was 30 business days and I was rushed through signing it. I believe the contract that I signed was manipulated and I also believe that contract doesnt even conform to California or federal law, although I am not a lawyer. I have a record of all emails back and forth with this company in which most of my emails were completely ignored and dismissed. As well as the date in which I originally tried to cancel but was rudely dismissed and told no. I also have record of this business deleting bad reviews and blocking people on social media when they express complaints. There are a number of other people out there being negatively affected and harassed by this business as well and several ****** reviews expressing bad business practices. I have reason to believe they incentivize others to leave good reviews to further mislead people into signing up.Customer Answer

This company keeps telling me they will send me to collections even though I have expressed repeatedly that I wanted to cancel my membership a long time ago (with records that I have tried and tried over and over again) and I dont believe their policies comply with the law.
I would like this company to either leave me alone or take me to court over it. I am NOT paying.
im happy to see that this company does not like to work with the BBB. Says a lot about them.

Mr. ****** signed up with our company on 06/03/2024 for a 24 month membership term. We are unsure why Mr. ****** says we approached him and coerced him into signing up. We do not reach out to people to sign up for our program. They have to go to our website, input their information, and then schedule a time to meet with one of our Membership Representatives. We in no way do any cold calling or ************* the end of the interview the interviewee is given the option to sign up with us, everyone has free will to make decisions on their own.The agreement that is signed by both parties outsides all expectations of being a member and obligations on both parties. He chose to sign up for our program and did not cancel within the cancellation time frame listed in his legally binding contract.
Mr. ******, has not made a payment since July of 2024. We have held up our end of the agreement as outlined. We have gone out of our way to help prevent Mr. ****** from being sent to a third party collections agency. It has been well over 90 days without a payment on his membership. We are warning him of this so that he can get his account handled with us before it goes to them.
As Mr. ****** is past the cancellation period on his contract, the balance remains legally owed to us. As any company in business that handles contracts, we are trying to collect on what he has agreed to pay to us for our services rendered. Our service has been ready and available for him to use, he has made the decision not to participate. We suggest Mr. ****** continues to work with our Resolutions Specialist moving forward regarding his account.Initial Complaint

In October of 2021, I joined E&A with a two-year membership. In December of 2021, I paused my membership. The contract stipulates that membership can be paused as long as you would like, and ***************************************** told me that I could freeze my membership as long as I'd like, While researching for a refund request, I saw that my membership expired in October of 2023. This is in violation of the contract, and since I was extremely underwhelmed with the service even while my membership was active, I want no further relationship with E&A and just want a refund.Business Response

Mr. **** is able to freeze his account for as long as hed like to. When hes ready to utilize the club he just needs to give our corporate office a call at ************** and request to unfreeze. We will then adjust his expiration date out the number of months the freeze request was active. On March 5th 2024 I purchased a yearly membership for events and adventures for $2475. I was only able to see an example of what type of events were offered and thought it was great. After signing up the last 12 months I havent attended one event. The events were too far away and Im only a few miles from ******. They hold a lot of the events outside the ****** area. It would have been extremely expensive to pay for transportation to these events. They are events at mostly at bars or drinking events and I dont drink and drive so it made it difficult to attend. I let the company know of my concerns but they said no returns after 3 days. I feel like I was convinced this was going to be great for me, but it wasnt at all. Im a single mom and I thought this was going to be a nice way to get myself back out there but I feel like it was really a scam unless people dont drink or dont mind drinking and driving. Im hoping you can help with a refund. Thank youBusiness Response

We show that Ms. ********** attended our New Member Icebreaker event as well as the shuffleboard event immediately after the Icebreaker. These are great first events to attend. We currently have events all over the ****** area. We have a variety of events available for our members as we understand not everyone enjoys the same pass times. Just next week we have an Aquarium event, Board Games, the Celtic Game, and many more non drinking events. As well as many more throughout the rest of the month and into next month. We will have ******************** Manager reach out to work on getting more events around her area. We have plenty of events that do not include alcohol that she can participate in.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
I did not attend any ice beaker or shuffle board event. I have never attended anything from this group. Never once. I believe this group should allow people to get out of it and give their money back if it doesnt reach the expectations that were given. Ive reached out to the coordinators and disappointed with this. I would never recommend based on that you are contracted to something you are not aware of what the yearly events will be. This is an unacceptable response and this organization should be known for falsely making attendees think there are more events in their area than there is. And to have made up attendance as well.Sincerely,

Our company offers a service, much like a gym membership. Even if you choose not to participate, our services are still ready and available to use at any time. Our events change monthly due to vendor availability, and we also take suggestions on events from members so those will vary as well. Our Event Coordinators do their best to get a good variety of events to appeal to all of our members. We can get Ms. ********** in contact with her Event Coordinator to help find more events tailored to her taste if she is interested. I am rejecting this response because:
The business only gives three days to cancel on a yearly contract. I never attended any events. At least just charge me for a month of trying it and credit back the rest. Its a lot of money to charge someone with no real expectations of location and activity for an entire year.

In August 2024, I "interviewed" with Events & Adventures. The mere fact that they refer to this as an "interview" is incredibly misleading, as they want you to think (and directly tell you) the interview serves as a screening process to ensure members are single and "emotionally and financially stable." This screening process is why I willing to pay for the service. Yet, I soon learned the "interview" was just a sales call where the person is trained to tell you whatever you want to hear. Every single thing I relied on before signing the membership contract was a material misrepresentation. Despite what I was promised, E&A does not screen for financial stability (in fact I later learned they give greatly discounted rates to those who claim they can't afford a membership, even though I was told the price of membership is a key way they screen for financial stability) nor emotional stability/readiness to date (many members I met said they were enticed to join by the "interviewer" who assured them this was a club for those not ready to date/just looking to make friends, while I was told anyone not serious about dating were not be allowed to join). I was also told there were thousands of Denver members, but as the events I attended and the ******************* photos regularly show, it's the same handful of people attending, many of whom are the exact profile of people I was assured would be "screened out". I signed a one year membership contract for $2475 the day of my "interview." I put $1000 down and have been making monthly payments since even though I will never attend another event. I have made the case numerous times to the nameless, faceless, rude staff behind **************************************** that this "contract" is void under ** Consumer Protection laws. I have generously asked them to consider my account paid in full, waiving the $1,070.40 remaining balance (as of today), so I can just move on, even though I am entitled to a full refund. They refused.Business Response

Ms. ***** signed up for our services on 08/13/2024 for a 12 month membership. Our Membership Representatives are trained to screen all potential members. This gives them the chance to see who they are as a person and whether they would be a good fit for our club. We do ask about their income, as this is a service and we wouldnt sign up a person who could not afford it. We expect all potential members to be open and honest with us, as there is no reason to falsify this information.
Anyone that is single and passes our screening process with our Membership Representatives is invited to join our club. We have a ton of members who are not interested in dating, or meeting a special someone. They enjoy hanging around like minded individuals and having new experiences with our club.
Our contracts abide by each state's laws, we ensure this by having lawyers licensed in those states read over and approve our agreement regularly At this time Ms. ***** is past her cancellation window and needs to resolve her account with our Resolution Specialist.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: it in no way resolves the issue that every material fact I relied on to sign the contract was a misrepresentation. Under Colorado law, this contract should be void. Let it be known that E&A is unwilling to do the legal or ethical thing here. In regards to *** **** *********** ******* ***** and regarding the improper handling of his membership cancellation and refund request. This has caused *** Grams considerable financial and emotional distress during a vulnerable time.Background:1. Membership Details: entered into agreement with Events & Adventures (E&A) on July 20, 2024, with the understandingexplicitly communicated during the initial meetingthat he could cancel during the initial freeze period if relocation was available. This was important because *** ***** made it very clear he was intending to move ASAP which would put him out of the 60-mile service radius zone.2. Cancellation Request: requested on July 28, 2024 (well within the stated freeze period) citing his relocation to ********, *** fact disclosed during initial discussions with E&A's representative, Ms. ********* ******.3. Eligibility Mismanagement: The signed Divorce Pending Form (dated July 20, 2024) erroneously listed his divorce finalization date as June 26, 2025, rendering him ineligible for attendance per the clubs policy and could not legally utilize membership services due to an oversight on E&As behalf.4. Proof of Relocation: *** Grams submitted ample proof of relocation, incl. his childrens Victoria-based school registrations, proof of child custody and his subsequent rental agreement.5. Unacceptable Excuse: Dec. 23, 2024, E&A stated that refunds are not available to Canadian citizensa fact never disclosed during the sign-up process, despite knowledge of *** Grams Canadian residency at signup.Refusal to honor the cancellation policy and issue a refund constitutes a breach of contract. The agreement provided for a freeze period and clearly implied that relocation outside the 60-mile radius would justify ***************. Grams expects an immediate refund of the $1,875 paid for a membership he was unable to utilize due to both mismanagement of the divorce verification process and relocation that occurred.Business Response

*** ***** signed up for a 6 month membership with our company on 07/20/2024. He requested to cancel with us on 08/06/2024 which is outside of the cancellation policy that was signed by *** Gram. Our Sales Team understands and abides by our contract, they would not tell a potential member they could cancel at any time when that is not true. We require a signature directly below our cancellation policy to draw the signers eye to this section. The agreement is sent to the member for signature giving them time to read through and understand exactly what they are agreeing to. We sincerely hope that new members are reading through their contract before signing their agreement.
In the interview process we confirm with the interviewee that they will be remaining in the area for a minimum of a year. The agreement signed by *** Gram does not have a relocation clause. We are happy to give *** Gram unlimited freeze time so that he can utilize his membership in the future as a courtesy.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because the company has not thoroughly reviewed the details of my interview process.
During my video interview, ********* ****** (a former employee) stated that I would likely relocate to ******** once I was granted permission to move with my children, whom I have full custody of.
The companys response assured me that if I relocated to ********, I would be fully compensated as long as I made a one-time lump sum payment during the freeze period. I canceled my membership on July 28, 2024, just eight days after it began on July 20, 2024 and am requesting a full refund of the annual lump sum payment.
Additionally, I was ineligible to use the service because my divorce pending form, dated June 26, 2025, rendered me still legally married. Now that I permanently reside in ********, the service is entirely unusable to me.
Finally, when I applied for cancellation on July 28, I was told via email that I qualified for a refund due to being outside the 60-mile radius. The company continued requesting personal documents until December, continuing to lead me to believe a refund would be provided if I proved my permanent move to *********Sincerely,

I made it very clear during my interview process that I was looking to meet likeminded people and make great memories. Soon after joining it became obvious that the ************** primarily attracts people that are pushing themselves out of their comfort zone because of mental health issues, physical disabilities, social disorders, etc. And the adventure part of the club is very much a stretch. There have been very few adventures and the events are not overly creative and are for sure not well attended. In fact it is mostly the same group of 20 or so people that attend all of the events. Occasionally new members will pop up but any that are of a similar understanding as me about what they had actually wanted to sign up for are quickly disappointed and do not attend any more events.I attended numerous events over a 6 month period to try and make the most of my membership only to have every event be more disappointing than the last. I was also recruited to be a host at the very first event that I attended because of how much I stood out as being very different from the typical members. I realize now that was not as much of a compliment as I had thought it to be at the ******* my decision to not honor my contract is extremely valid and is based on very in-depth knowledge and experience both as a member and as a host. All of the issues I have outlined are very well known amongst the club members, host and leaders. In fact a lot of the conversation at events is about how unhappy members and hosts are because of all these issues. If the club proceeds to take my account to collections it will be very much adding insult to injury and be unbelievably tone deaf of the them to know that these issues exist and then not acknowledge very legitimate complaints from a trustworthy, active and upstanding member/host. The only course of action that would make sense is for the company to grant me release from the financial contract that was sold to me under very false pretenses.Business Response

Ms ******* signed up for a 24 month membership with our company. Our club is welcome to all types of people to help them get out and meet new people. Ms. ******* is welcome to recommend any events she finds more tailored to her taste. We do take recommendations on future events from members quite frequently. We have plenty of trips and excursions for our members to partake in offering more Adventure. Each month varies in events and member attendance, no one can judge our events by attending one or two events sporadically. There is always fluctuation, what you put into your membership you get out of the club. We are making changes in ********* with our Event staff. This will adjust which events we plan and schedule for future months to come. We are always willing to make changes, grow, and plan new exciting events.
Ms. ******* is past her cancellation period per her legally binding agreement. We are happy to work with her on future events that she would be interested in attending. However, her balance remains legally owed to our company. If she does not make a payment on her balance she will be sent to our third party collections agency.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:The company's response continues to not address my situation directly nor adequately. They are referring to members having to put effort into their memberships which I have put extensive effort into my membership over a 6 month period as both a member and a host. I am not making this complaint lightly. I have substantial knowledge and experience of issues that the club has been having for years and that continue to persist and I am very disappointed in their generic responses that do not speak to my actual knowledge and experience. The complaints I am bringing forward are very well known issues amongst new and long term members and hosts. I will not be honoring a contract for services that were sold to me in not good faith. The ************** has been struggling for years and I was not made aware of that nor was it something that I can fix by suggesting more events. The **** to make the club run successfully should not be on me or any of its members. The club charges its members substantial fees based on a promise of value and therefore they need to analyze and solution how to ensure the services they provide meet the expectations of the fees being charged.
Sincerely,
**** ******
