We have paid True North Construction LLC $10,084 to date and only our basement floor is finished and trim is partially complete. $7,500 upfront, and another check for $2,584. On December 27th I hesitantly wrote him a check for $3,600 because he asked and I did not want to seem like a bad customer (even though nothing was finished) and told him to please wait to deposit two days as I will transfer money over from my Schwabb account.He put the floating floor down without following manufacturer's guidelines (later we realized this voided the warranty) causing an unlevel and really unsatisfactory floor to walk on. Before he put down the floor we asked if we should level the floor first and he told us with this product it will not be noticeable. When it was really noticeable, he told us he would fix it and told us we could tell him if we were not satisfied. He took the floor up and we leveled the floor and put down an underlayment on our own as he told us later that was not part of the estimate. After completion he tried to double charge us for the floor install. We disagree with this as he did not follow the manufacturers guidelines and we did notice the floor was unlevel and it was definitely not to satisfaction. The kitchenette is partially done and not to satisfaction (broken cabinet causing kitchen to be un-level after he told us its an easy fix with putting a board on the back, door hardware put on without asking us where we wanted them and they are in the wrong place). The butcher board was also stained a color without asking me, and there is a large defect on the top that was never pointed out to me. The butcher block is still not set. After I pointed these things out that I wanted fixed he told me it would be more money to have it right. I disagreed with this as the kitchenette should be right and a finished product for him to be paid in the first place.
