On June 15, 2022, I signed a contract to book Prime Salon for myself and 4 people's hair and makeup for my wedding day on 9/10/22. On June 22, 2022, I sent a venmo of $728.00 to Prime Salon as my 50% deposit, required to hold my wedding date on their busy calendar. No other fees were discussed with me in email or contract. On July 22, 2022, I went to Prime Salon for a hair and makeup trial. I did not realize how much this would cost me because nothing was communicated. I ended up paying $225 for my trial. I was taken aback by the price since I was not prepared to pay for this service, but nonetheless, I paid it. Later that evening I reflected on the services I received and I realized it was not a good fit for me personally. I did not feel the styling of the makeup was personalized to my complexion and features. I also did not like the lack of communication. That same night I emailed the owner of Prime Salon to let her know I did not want to continue and that I would like my deposit back. The owner did try to remedy the situation by crediting me $100 if I continued with them. I politely declined and again asked to be taken off their calendar and reimbursed my full deposit of $728. Instead of doing this, the owner seemed to take things as a personal attack. She told me it would take 30 days to reimburse me. When I asked why it would take so long she said she needed to report the refund to her accountant. I found this to be odd however I expressed my understanding. A few weeks later I sent her a gentle reminder of my refund. The owner then decided to tell me I am not getting my full refund instead I am getting half or $364. She failed to provide a legitimate reason for doing this. I read her contract myself and with an attorney. Regarding cancelations, it says "14 days prior, 50% of down payment will be refunded". I gave the owner 51 days of notice NOT 14 days. I tried to reason with her, but it went nowhere. She did reimburse me $364 and not the full $728.
