Hired H&C tree service/ Howard Ewing on Monday, March 1, 2025 to cut down a tree and remove debris, at that time he said it would be completed by Friday March 4. I paid him in full on Thursday, March 3, 2025, $3500.00 by check. On the promise that he would finish cutting my tree down and remove all brush. He showed up the following day for 2 hours and 3 hours the day after that. Then when we complained that he was supposed to done, worried that we had promised the business beside us that it would be gone on Friday, he stated he wasn’t coming back. He placed all the tree brush and limbs, a pile 8 foot high and 40 foot long on a neighboring business property. He told us we could pay someone to come clean it up and finish. Basically he took our money and ran. I have a gentleman coming out and we will have to pay him an additional 1000.00 to remove the debris and finish this job.

    Business Response

Customer wanted it all done in 2 - 3 days and that's just wasn't possible.  We offered a contract and customer did want a contract.  We've removed every bit of the brush.

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.Does the company’s response even sound realistic? I didn’t want a contract? I was never offered one, I never asked for one. It was a verbal agreement that he would be done in 5 days. Which I extended to 8 days, then extended to 16 days. Howard quit twice, he only removed the brush pile after the ********** ***** ***** threatened to sue him. He promised repeatedly (Through text) to come finish cutting down our tree, on April 16, 2025, he quit again. Never finishing the tree, and only later after reviewing our security cameras we saw that he dropped a limb on our fence, knocking the concrete up from the ground and damaging the fence. He never told us he did this, and when I text him the video, his response was..”whatever”. I have every text message, I have videos that I took and even his own videos that he posted on Facebook where he narrates where he was supposed to cut the tree down to and even his own admission on there that states he “was done, and she can find someone else to finish.” At this point, since Howard continues to lie, pathologically about this situation, since he keeps posting and harassing us on social media, he’s leaving me little choice. I had intended to forget about this entire situation, chalk this up to a loss, and move on without pursuing any legal action. However, I see no other recourse but to file a suit to stop these lies and harassment. And I have been assured by our attorney, given all of our evidence, texts, videos and his own statements that is on social media, we will win. Here’s what we would like to happen here at this point. I want EVERY post, every video, every picture about us, dating all the way back to day 1 removed from his private and business page. I want absolutely zero of anything pertaining to us or our tree removed and if I ever see anything else about it on his or any of friends or family, I will head straight to the courthouse. This man has stolen from us, he has lied consistently and repeatedly about us and I don’t want to be associated with him or his business. As far as I am concerned he’s no better than a telemarketer scammer. And as much as I want to teach this man a lesson in ethics by a court of law, I simply want to be rid of him and his lies from my life Regards, ******* *****
