    I hired Perez Enterprises, a subcontractor for **** *****, to install my hot water heater. The woman who answered the phone was very nice while setting up the appointment, but things went downhill from there.
    I wasn’t home during the installation because I’m a firefighter and was on duty and wanted hot water for my family (I'm also a Class A contractor). I trusted **** ***** and their subcontractor; they pulled the necessary permits, and the installation was supposed to be inspected. Despite the reviews, I went ahead and booked the service.
    My wife informed me that the installation went fine, but it needed a few updates to meet code, which I understood. A few hours later, she called to say that she smelled gas. The gas company came out and found two leaks—one at the HVAC unit and another at the hot water tank. The HVAC is located next to the hot water tank in a small closet, and the HVAC unit had been installed three years ago without any issues. I suspect the installer may have jarred the fitting while putting in the new tank.
    The gas company fixed the leaks and moved on. My wife was understandably upset and called Perez Enterprises, prompting a call back from the owner (to me) He claimed his installer checked for leaks and insisted it wasn’t his fault. I disagreed, and the conversation didn’t improve from there.
    In summary, if you want cheap service, this company can provide that—but you’ll likely end up with cheap results.
