I ordered from Fear not Tarantulas. And I read lots of negative comments that just don’t add up. I won’t get in to it as far as there procedures it’s all in black and white highlighted messages in caps to read people complain about shipping and pricing they clearly tell you what’s best and it’s up to you to choose I choose the safest method and pay the extra 40-50 bucks for shipping directly to a fed store. So far I’m still waiting on my Ts but I’m super patient and on time with all there requirements.

There is simply no better place to purchase your tarantulas. The policies and customer service are unmatched. The only time I’ve ever seen people upset is when the customer has failed to follow ordering instructions or read emails carefully—which they always stress to do. With a little reading, the ordering process is very easy to understand and they’ve always got a wonderful selection of freebies. I have ordered from this business several times and have interacted with the owner and a few employees—great people! Keep up the great work FNT, you make it hard to want to order from anywhere else! ????

The customer service is lacking greatly. I had an issue with one of my vials being empty and they kept insisting they double check and this could not happen, like humans don’t make errors everyday. I got one of the Tarantulas that I ordered, and was told to kee checking the moss for the missing one. I sent them a clear video of the moss, zoomed in, to show that the vial is, in fact, missing a spood.
Customer service still hasn’t admitted wrongdoing and instead of offering to reship or send a refund at the very least, they said they may be able to send another with my next order, IF they still have them. The second T was considered a “freebie” so I guess they aren’t required to do anything, which is very unprofessional. I would have not ordered otherwise and I feel this company is being very shady with all of their outlandish disclaimers and expectations. They make their customers pay for their mistakes. I won’t be getting that lovely T Albo, bc I will not be purchasing a second time. I will definitely be passing on my personal experience with every person that I know in this hobby and I will be disputing the charges with my bank if no resolution is found, other than “you can pay for shipping all over again and then get what you ordered and already paid for”. Get real.

Just to clarify, the quote the customer has included was not something that we said.  If we could include the communication here, we certainly would so others could see that we went above and beyond for this customer.  Please keep in mind that this was a free gift that is being complained about, and we did offer to replace it with her next order, which we did not have to do.

We deal with living things here at Fear Not and take it very seriously.  The process we have for packing up animals ensures we do not ship an empty vial.  There are rare times when a customer cannot find a spiderling and we have clear instructions to follow in those cases.  When following those instructions, 95% of the time the customer finds the spiderling.  Constantly poking through a few sprigs of moss, as was in the video, is not how to find a spiderling, and could have caused harm to it.  If the customer could not find a spider and it had been paid for, then we would have shipped her a replacement, but this was a free gift.

There is nothing to refund because this was a FREE gift. I'm not sure how the customer is going to "dispute" a charge for something that was not even paid for and was a free gift.   Free things that we include are not covered the same as things that are paid for.  This is clearly stated in our terms of service which the customer agreed to and even acknowledged she knew about in an email.  All retailers of spiders have this in their terms of service. Those in the tarantula community know very well how "freebies" work and that they are not guaranteed.

We went above and beyond with this customer by offering to replace the FREE spiderling that she could not find with her next order.  Not all retailers would have offered that.

I added items to my cart hit check out and paid for my order. Then I get an email saying that I didn't pay for shipping. But when I went to check out it had my total then it said free shipping and then my total again so placed my order. They said I had to choose an option but no time when I was shopping or placing my order did it ask me to make an option to pay for shipping . And since they excepted my payment before charging me for shipping then I shouldn't have to pay it.. Like any store you go into even if they have priced the item wrong they have to sale it to you for the price that was that was posted this is no different.. When you check out at fear not tarantulas it should state your subtotal and then shipping cost and then final total it did not there for they are in the wrong and because of this I'm not only filling a compliant here but also with consumer commission and the fraud division because it is fraudulent to except a payment and then later ask for more money

I'm glad to explain our shipping options.  Fear Not tarantulas ships living creatures and we have several shipping options available.  We have a drop down menu on mobile devices, but the default option has this message " DO NOT CHOOSE THIS! ??Choose a shipping method from the drop down menu. ?? If shipping is not paid, it will be refunded."

Our default shipping method is what you see in that message to prompt folks to choose an appropriate shipping method from the drop down menu.  We have had to do that because Shopify does not allow us to put our shipping methods in an order other than the cost of the shipping method.  We have lots of folks add to their shipments before their orders ship on our shipping days, so it is necessary for us to have a free shipping method available.  This is explained at checkout and several other places on our site.

After Mr. Morton complained about this, we checked his order and saw that he chose the shipping method with the message above.  We also have several pop-up messages on our site alerting our customers to be sure to pay shipping for their order.  There is also a message about this on our website banner and in our terms of service.   Due to all the alerts we have, it is very rare that customers do not understand that shipping is required.

We had Shopify check to see if anything out of the ordinary happened during his ordering process and they found that nothing happened.  I also had 10 of my staff check to make sure the shipping methods were showing up on their mobile devices.

We do the best we can to avoid misunderstandings like this by having so many warnings and information on our site and are sorry that Mr. Morton has been disappointed.

I had an issue with my order and their customer service was rude so I left a review saying I wouldn't recommend them to anyone so then they posted all my personal information from the invoice onto their website
