I had to call several contractors to fix issues at my restaurant and for some of my friends and clients. Unfortunately, my regular plumber was on vacation when we had a small ceiling leak, so I had to contact S.J. Conner & Sons for the first time.

We have a surveillance camera to monitor activities on our premises. Recently, an elderly person spent two and a half hours at our restaurant, while a young man spent only 45 minutes. However, we received two invoices from S.J. Conner & Sons, charging us $920 for the small leak they fixed.

I was surprised by the bill adding the $100 for equipment charge that we have to pay. Additionally, they charged us for three and a half hours of labor for two workers. To make matters worse, they also claimed that we had canceled an appointment last March and charged us an additional $120. This was my first time contacting them and they gave me the bill for last year.

I contacted the company to clarify the charges and spoke with their receptionist, *******. Unfortunately, she was quite rude to me and informed me that regardless of whether customers like it or not, the company charges a certain fee. Upon hearing this, I felt overcharged and upset. I even asked if they had a record of my previous calls, but they were unable to provide any evidence. Nevertheless, they insisted that I pay the fee anyway."Avoid calling this company as their customer service is likely to cause significant stress and discomfort.

SJ CONNER received a call from property maintenance man of ********** ****. He asked if we could assist in a leak in dining area. He stated that he was helping tenant because he could not speak good English. Upon completion of work that was requested from *** ****** the invoice was to be paid which was stated to the customer before providing service. The owner agreed to pay and also asked if someone from SJ CONNER could come, and pick check up. Upon arrival to present invoice the owner was very argumentative about the price of the invoice. I then proceeded to give a breakdown of the bill and also expressed that the prices are set by S JACK CONNER. I then called Mr. Jack so that he could confirm that the information I provided was accurate. The owner spoke with Mr. Jack but still stated that he was not paying for the services.  The owner also stated that they had received service from other plumbers that day that were not able to fix the leak and was happy that we were.

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.1) We do not want to pay the bill from last year because we do not know of it. 2) Please remove the $100 equipment charge from the bill, as it was not supposed to be included. 3) The first person spent two and a half hours fixing the issue, while the second person only stayed in the restaurant for 45 minutes. Therefore, charging less than two and a half hours would be accurate. They have corrected the bill, and we will pay it soon.

S.J CONNER has set prices that are not negotiable however if there was work not completed then their would be an adjustment for coming back. In the case with *** ****** the work was completed after other plumbers were unable to fix the issue therefore no discounts needed to be applied. Equipment was mandatory for this job so S.J CONNER should receive full payment.

The company sent a technician who overcharged me for the hours he actually worked. He also charged me for his saw blades. He showed up around 10 AM and left for about an hour and a half supposedly to get parts. I was charged for the time he was gone. He ended up only working about 2.5-3 hours but charged me for 5 hours. I was shocked at the bill for the small amount of work he actually did. Over $700 to replace a washer box and cut a hole in the wall and run a water line which was already there.

We received your letter regarding the above complaint.  We made 3 (three) visits to the ****** home.  They were as follows: 1:  12/20/22   ******* ******** was there for 2 hours.  The bill for this visit was $215.00 but Ms. ****** was not charged. 2.  12/22/22  ****** *******  This is the bill that Ms. ****** has questioned.  We took off ¾ hour for ******** lunch break after reviewing his time.  That would bring the bill to $662.82 instead of $734.07. 3.  1/6/23   **** ****** picked up material and was there 2.5 hours.  Ms. ****** was not charged.  This bill would have been $187.50. The bill for the 3 (three) visits would have been $1,065.32.  Ms. ****** paid $734.07.  I do not feel any further adjustment is warranted. Regards, ** **** ******

******* ******** was at my house for about 1/2 hr. not 2 hours. ****** was gone for over 2 hours and I was charged for the time he was gone, not acceptable. I wasn't charged for **** ******* work because he was just fixing what ****** didn't fix when he was here. I was overcharged by at least $200. I was never told that I would be charged that much before the work was done. If I had known, I would not have hired this company. I was very upset with not only the work that was/wasn't done but also being charged for time that no one was even here. I feet that a refund of $200 would be fair.

As we stated before, we made several visits to the ****** residence.  Ms. ****** was only charged for the one visit.  We feel that she has received enough of a discount already and the invoice will remain as is.

I still feel that a refund of $200 is warranted as the business never gave me an estimate up front and then I was overcharged for hours that the tech didn't work. This business doesn't put the customer first and is fraudulent in my opinion.
