I had an appointment on April 8th 2024 at 8:00 to have my car checked at Kidd Tires here. I told them to check several things one being my brakes. I have a receipt where I paid 54.20 for them inspecting and cleaning my breaks. They said they found nothing wrong with my car. On April 17 2024 which is today I went to ****** **** to replace 2 front tires. I was taken back to my car to the passenger side where my cv boot was leaking very badly. I informed the guy that I had replaced the axel in 2020 and I just took my car to get checked last Monday. He said that had been like that long before Monday due to the amount. I am not a mechanic and find it quite dangerous when you take it to a mechanic and they clearly see a dangerous issue and let you leave without you having knowledge is unbelievable. I have done many repairs on my car I drive very a good distance on highway to get to work and it's not right to not be told the truth about my vehicle which could result in a accident or death.

      Business Response

      Date: 04/17/2024

I spoke with the technician, who has many years of experience, and he said he didn't notice or see a leak in the CV boot upon his inspection of the vehicle. I have every reason to believe him because he has never lied to me before and because it would have been in his best interest to have found the CV Boot busted because the customer may have allowed us to replace the defective axle. It is entirely plausible that the CV boot failed, after he left here-as he mentioned he does drive a lot. My tech would have caught it had it been burst when it was here because that would have been an opportunity for him to be paid to replace the axle.As for what the mechanic at ****** **** said, how does he know that the axle boot had been busted for "a long time"? Does he have a scientific way to determine that the boot had been that way for "a long time". Define what a "long time" is? Is that a week? Is that a month? Define it. So, we will take his word that it was busted for a long time and immediately jump to conclusions that we missed it? What did the folks at ****** **** do to earn such unimpeachable trust? How do we know that mechanic didn't do some shady stuff to get an axle job out of this customer? Is he/she without question? To be fair, we could have missed it. We are human and we do make mistakes. In the spirit of full transparency-this report makes me angry. Our reputation for over 48 years of being in business is that if you have a problem-come back and talk to us. This is a small town, and we have to help our neighbors. We aren't in the business of "taking advantage" of people. If this customer had simply come back, with a cool calm demeanor and said "hey, I have this problem", we would have listened and helped. This situation never needed to rise to the level of reporting to the BBB. Please forward this to the customer and tell him to calmly come by to talk to us and I'll gladly refund his money that we charged.  We pride ourselves on excellent customer service. We live in this community; we do not take advantage of our neighbors. It is against our nature to rip off our customers, that type of dishonesty appalls me! It is a mandate from my father ***** **** and from me, ******* **** to ALL of our Employees that we treat our customers with the utmost care, honesty and respect that they deserve. Do we fall short at times, yes, we are human. We have emotions, we have good days and bad days like every other human in existence. We always strive to do better and be better and to always care for our fellow humans the best way possible. Respectfully, ******* ****General MangerKidd Tire Auto Parts

Prior to making my complaint  I did go to the business directly after leaving ****** **** and spoke with someone about the issue. A price was given to how much it be to fix it but nothing else so I decided to contact BBB. I do not plan to ever go back to that business and speak with anyone else I would just like for my money to be placed back on my card. I dont drive alot I drive a distance to work on Sat and return on Mondays. I dont run my car because I dont know whats wrong with it thats why I went to have it checked prior to getting tires.
