19 year old daughter is in the Navy and purchased a used car here. She is very inexperienced with buying cars and this was her first car purchase. With in 14 days exactly, she was stuck on the side of the highway with a blown motor. No help from dealership or offer of any assistance to make this repair. Now she is making payments on a vehicle she cant drive and cant afford a new motor that it requires. She was told that it was the original motor but it doesnt appear to be the case. Due to her age and inexperience, unfortunately she did not understand how a warranty works and that she only had the 2 weeks to purchase a warranty. She only learned about that when she called the salesman on day 14 to get his help to only be told he was not going to be able to help because that same day was the deadline for her to get the warranty. She also over paid for the car to begin with. I feel like she was taken advantage of because of her lack of knowledge.

    518 AUTO SALES SCAM
I brought a vehicle from 518 auto sales my sales representative was Tj. As soon as I got on the interstate 5 mins after leaving the dealership the engine like came on I called them back and tj told me to bring the car in. Then he called back and told me to bring it in Monday. Monday came and I brought them the vehicle back they told me that it’s my responsibility for getting the car fixed. Which buying a car as is means I’m responsible. 518 knew that this car had problems and didn’t say anything. I would say over half of their cars had something wrong with it. I would never refer anyone here. It’s like they are a scam, that’s how I see it.
People come to establishment such as 518 Auto sales with their last dime with the intentions to purchase a used vehicle just to find out they were scammed. Now have to come out of pocket to fix the vehicle. For you and your best interest please bring a mechanic with you and take the car you interested in on the highway because Tj told me where to go so I wouldn’t go on the highway to discover the issues. I feel robbed and not valued as a customer looking to purchase a vehicle.

    *BUYER BEWARE*
Don't waste your time! We bought a truck at 518 in May 2023. We were aware that it had over 200k miles on it, so we were told we could purchase an extended warranty for an additional ***. It took almost a month for us to get the warranty paperwork, at which time our truck started having issues. When we submitted a claim that the warranty should have covered, we were told that the warranty was voided due to the mileage being incorrect (*****, the salesman who wrote up the paperwork put down that the truck had 19k miles, not over 200k). Additionally, our purchase of the warranty was never even placed on the Buyers Agreement, the dealership "couldn't find" record of the warranty, and the total we paid conveniently reflected nothing more than the price of the truck plus taxes, etc. After MONTHS of trying to have the dealership rectify the warranty, while our truck sat on their lot "waiting for parts," we finally had it towed home. We were set up with a new warranty. When we learned the truck needed a new transmission, our second warranty was voided without our knowledge once again because the mileage was not documented correctly. We spent weeks trying to figure out how to fix this or get the dealership to write up a new warranty with the correct mileage, as they should have done in the first place, however, they never did. When we went in again, the owner refused to speak with us at all and started yelling at him about who was going to pay for the repairs since the warranty purchase was never documented and he "didn't know" how that could happen. Literally, whatever you do, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. These guys are crooked as you can get and they don't care to take your money and run. There's a lot of paperwork that goes into buying a car and all you deserve as a buyer is for the person selling to know how to do their job and do it effectively without mistakes (especially when you're paying cash like we did).

ZERO STARS! On 12/09/2023 518 Auto sold me a car that I gave them a check from Navy Federal Credit Union in the amount of 25,000 and an additional $1*** to make a total of $******* At the time of purchase there was not an inspection sticker on the care, nor was it detailed or maintained as they had just got the vehicle on the lot (so they told me). They stated that they would need a few days to get it inspected, do an oil change, and get it detailed. I waited about 3 days and then called them to get an estimated time of when I would be able to pick up my vehicle. The sales manager called me back saying that the vehicles transmission was slipping and he didn’t feel comfortable selling the car that he already sold me. I told him I still wanted it and we could either work something out if he felt uncomfortable selling me a car with a suspect transmission or, I would still take it as they had sold it to me “as is” and when I test drove it, it ran just fine. I had a sneaking suspicion that later that day someone must of offered them more money for the vehicle because it was still on the lot. Later that afternoon I decided to go up there and see what was going on. After being ignored, I finally asserted myself and requested that I drive the vehicle that I had already purchased to see if I could tell if it indeed had transmission issues. I was then informed that the vehicle was at Prices Transmission in Virginia Beach and that it would be back the next day and I could drive it again. I proceeded to drive to prices transmission as I was slowly loosing trust in what the dealership was telling me. The people at Prices told me that that vehicle had never been up there and they looked in their database in the last 5 days. After that I went straight to the dealership. The vehicle was still no where on the lot and when I went inside, the sales manager already had my check and hand to give back to me. They are liers, avoid this dealership at all cost!

What a wonderful experience. Over the past 5 years, i have purchased 3 vehicles. Each time they were hassle free. The sales people are very professional and knowledgeable. If you are in the market, they have a wide variety of vehicles and the inventory changes all the time. This is the place to go!

We recently just purchased a 2020 Nissan Versa from 518. The sales experience was absolutely phenomenal and hassle free. The knowledge and professionalism from the staff made the process stress free. Over the years, my family has purchased 7 vehicle and all have been stress free. We are definitely a 518 fan!

Bought a 2013 ******* ****** for my daughter last week, and was told they give a 90 day warranty by the salesman, however, at paying and doing the final paper work the finance manager told us not such thing and it was "as is". That said, the "buyer beware", is an old adage, however, one would expect some basic and better honesty in business. They would not negotiate on the price and we should have left at that point. They told us it was inspected, so we figured that was some degree of comfort and thought the car was in compliance with the State of Virginia laws. After we left later in the week driving at night we discovered the low beam headlights didn't work, the AC unit didn't cool the next day when it was warmer than the day we bought it and needs a new a compressor. And the drivers side passenger tail light was broken and the passenger door couldn't be opened from the outside. Therefore, when an independent mechanic found all these we were told this car should never have been allowed off the dealership's lot because it would pass inspection, a clear violation of the law. I am not pleased and believe them to be dishonest business and would not recommend buying from them.

In my lifetime I've bought over a dozen cars. Every transaction was drawn out and complicated. Recently, following an accident, we needed to find another vehicle. Connecting through our neighborhood's Civic League, I talked to Mike, who listened to what we needed, and we set an appointment. I went in and test-drove a vehicle he recommended that matched our needs. Of all the vehicles I've owned, I've never bought the first one I drove at the first place I shopped before. But now I have. I'm impressed with the sales staff, and the financing was simple and straightforward. No shady, back-office deals. No haggling. No high pressure tactics. Have already recommended 518 to a friend who also bought a vehicle from them. Highly satisfied customer here!
