  • Blue Zeppelin Heating and Cooling was first brought to the attention of the Better Business Bureau on February 28, 2024. A Better Business Bureau investigation revealed the company did not have a 2024 business license according to the Commissioner of Revenue for Norfolk, Virginia, and according to the website for the Virginia State Corporation Commission the company is active with their agency. An Internet search of the company and principal revealed no adverse information. A viral search of the address on file with the BBB was revealed to be a commercial building.  The company has had no reports posted to the BBB’s ScamTracker page: https://www.bbb.org/scamtracker/us.

    According to the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) Blue Zeppelin Heating and Cooling does not have a contactors license as required by law. 

    According to the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) any contractor who contracts for work over $1,000 is required to obtain one of the following license classifications:

    Class C contractors are limited to contracts/projects of less than $10,000 with an aggregate total of all contracts/projects done in a twelve-month period of less than $150,000.

    Class B contractors are limited to contracts/projects of less than $120,000 with an aggregate total of all contracts/projects done in a twelve-month period of less than $750,000.

    Class A contractors have no limits to contract/project size based on dollar amounts.

    A contractor’s license is not required for work that is under $1,000, with the exception of landscape irrigation and water well systems, both of which require a contractor license regardless of the dollar amount.

    Trade-related work (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and gas-fitting) and elevator/escalator work, require that the individual performing be licensed for work that is under $1,000.  Once the work hits the $1,000 threshold, a contractor license is required for the company.

    On November 19, 2024, an investigation letter was sent to the company regarding their lack of contractor’s license.  On November 27, 2024, the company called and stated that they do not work on heating and air conditioning units they only repair appliances.  Informed them that they are advertising that they repair and install heating and air conditioning units and according to the Department of Occupational and Regulations they are required to have a tradesmen’s license for any repairs or installations that are done for heating and air conditioning units as long as the work does not exceed $1000.  Company stated ok.  On December 3, 2024, a second letter was sent to the company regarding this license.

    As of the date of this Business Profile, the company has not responded further to this Better Business Bureau’s regarding the company’s lack of a contractor’s license. Mail sent to the company has not been returned by the post office.
