      I purchased a GE washing machine on January 10, 2023 and paid cash $839.74. The machine did not operate from day one but I thought it was "modern" equipment and I needed to get use to it. I then called and spoke to someone at the business and told them it did not to seem to have enough water in it and when it would spin the machine would rock all over the floor. I would try to lay and hold the machine to keep it from going all over my floor. My clothes would be in a knot and all on one side. The clothes also did not spin out enough that I could put them in the dryer. I have to wring water out of them. They did say they would come and check the machine and when they came Monday, April 10, 2023 the repair said there was only 6" of water coming in the machine and that was the problem. He said he had another service call but would talk with John Rife and someone would call me on Tuesday. No one called Tuesday, April 11th so I went there and they told me it would have to have a part and they did not know when the part would be in and how long it would be before it could be fixed. I was very upset that i paid this much money-cash for a washing machine and did not know if and when it would be fixed. My daughter called the store because I was so upset and ask to speak with John Rife, he is the owner, and she was told he was not there. she did tell them for him to call because if he did not resolve the problem we would contact BBB. Mr. Rife did call back and we told him I needed my machine fixed or a new one because it should not be torn up being new and I could not wait a long time. Mr. Rife said give me until Thursday, April 13th and I will check with a repair person but that GE would not replace the machine. I said ok I will give you until Thursday. On Wednesday I did go into the business to see if they had checked on anything and Mr. Rife was not there. I spoke with Mr. ***** that works there and ask about my washing machine being fixed and he walked away from me and told me he had a customer. So today is Thursday and I have not heard anything from John Rife of Rife's TV. I am an elderly lady and I live by myself. My husband is dead and I recently lost a daughter so things do upset me easily and I have a hard time doing things on my own. I think I paid a lot of money for this washing machine and I should not have to put up with this kind of service. I purchased this washing machine locally to give the business to our community and I cannot travel out of town by myself. I can not drive the distance anywhere but locally. I am very disappointed in the service I have received and the rudeness of the owner and workers in the store. I want new washing machine or immediate repair for the brand new one I have. I can not do without a washing machine for a period of time as everyone knows that but they don't care and their rude attitude has really upset me. Please help. I don't have a way to upload the receipt.

      I ‘m sorry that Mrs. ********** is having an issue with her GE
      Washer and equally sorry she felt the need for a formal complaint.   The
      first three months of her dissatisfaction being mute as it was never brought to
      the attention of GE, our retail store or any certified appliance servicer.Mrs. ******** (her daughter) called me with a complaint
      about not enough water coming into her mother’s washer.    Water
      level questions are the number one complaint industry wide with new washers.  On page 8 of this model GE owner’s manual, it
      states:  NOTE: This is a high-efficiency
      washing machine.  This system requires
      less water while providing effective cleaning action.  You may notice that the water level is lower
      than on your previous washer.  This is
      normal.   As a courtesy, (at no charge), we agreed to send our experienced
      staff person (although not a GE certified technician) to her home to see if see
      if perhaps a setting or water pressure may be the problem.  This happened on our 4th attempt
      to schedule with this customer.  (The
      first three attempts did not work with her schedule). 
      As settings and water pressure were good, we obtained an authorization
      from GE for a warranty service call dispatched to ********* **** ###-###-####, who
      is a GE certified appliance repairman. 
      GE warranty covers repair, not replacement.  It was made very clear by Mrs. ******** that they wanted us
      to replace her washer!  That is not an
      option.  GE will always repair units and any
      possible replacement would only be when GE deems it is appropriate and
      authorizes such.Jon Rife

      I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

      Mr. Rife said I had had the machine for three months and had not complained but I had called once questioning the operation of the machine.  So, is Mr. Rife indicating that the machine had worked for three months and that is good?  He stated that the machine is high-efficiency and does not require much water, well his repairman said the machine was only filling up with 6" of water at the most and he said something was wrong.  Maybe Mr. Rife should try washing his clothes in 6" of water. He said he sent a repairman out "as a courtesy' " no charge" to check the machine??? oh my it should be under warranty and not cost me anything after I paid $839.74 for the washing machine. Also he indicated that it was the 4th attempt- well I was out with appointments a couple times but he did not tell you that he only has someone on certain days so his schedule was very flexible too and I had to arrange around the times that a repairman was available. It is now during this complaint that I find out that a GE repairman has been notified. I will close to inform Mr. Rife if he had only contacted me himself and tried to get a repairman none of this would have happened.  Myself and my daughter have called to see why his business- himself or his manager had not contacted me and told me a repairman was coming. Mr. Rife told my daughter on Tuesday to give him until Thursday and he would call but he didn't and I went into the store and the manager told me he had a customer and walked off and left me standing.  Also, no one from this business has contacted me. I tried to keep my business locally but not anymore. I am expecting a repairman this week and I will also contact GE.

      ********* ****, a GE
      certified servicer, checked her washer yesterday under warranty.  He concluded the
      machine was working properly and took the time to explain to Mrs. ********** how high efficiency washers are designed to work and what to expect and even
      ran through a cycle as he preceded by telling her each step of what would
      happen and showed that it did what he said it would.The PRECISE water level
      selection allows the machine to determine the proper amount of water per weight
      of clothes in the washer...ONLY TO A MAX POINT.   When the MAX level
      is selected, the water level was exactly where the manufacturer said it was to
      be.  The complaint of "dancing" of the machine was sometimes
      only and together, Mrs. ********** and ********* **** determined it to be when
      washing heavier top of bed clothes only.  He suggested those should be
      laundered in a commercial machine. We sincerely hope this clears up any concerns with your GE washer.  Jon Rife

Mr. Rife is correct in what he is saying that the mechanic said but I am still very dissatisfied with this washing machine. For one thing Mr. Rife should have explained to me the kind of machine I was buying and helped me as a customer to make the right purchase - that is what a business should do. Second, the service and treatment I received from his business I will never forget.  Mr. Rife has never contacted me himself and I will never purchase nor enter his business again.  I was trying to shop local and purchase from what I considered a friend, and I am very disappointed. I would have purchased a different machine if someone would have explained to me but now I am stuck with a $800. washing machine and the GE mechanic's answer is if I have a "large" load take them to a laundry mat! Ha Ha! so each week I am supposed to take my bed sheets to a commercial laundry business because my new over $800 washing machine cannot wash them! no I am not happy.  Regards,
